Has anyone measured the power output of the USB-plug from th Sur Ron? It says 5V 2,4A on it.
If so it would be enough to power an additional 10W LED on the handlebar without mounting the associated 1S3P batterybox.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I'm guessing I can just bump to 110 and see if it starts cutting out but my tiny garden isn't safe to push it that high  Pulling temporarily more than the "not tripping" 90A is possible. I tested my stock battery with short bursts up to 120A. If this load is within 5-6 seconds and th...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
@Offroader Is this how you drive around every day or was it just a picture after installation of the nucular (not nuclear :D ) controller? I know it's a matter of taste but having the cables sticking out like this ruins the whole (closed) look of the bike in my opinion. And of course the protection ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I wonder if maybe thermal pasting the Nuc 24f case to the plate inside the stock housing would help? The FETs in the Nuc are sitting on the two sidewalls so I guess this wouldn't help much. With the stock battery I had no problems at all with heat. But with peaks of nearly 21kw the 24F starts sweat...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I saw someone who mounted their 24f inside the stock sur ron controller heatsink. I might have to buy a dud controller to try that, I love the look of the stock controller. I have done that too because of the looks. The "donator"-Controller had all his connectors cut directly after exitin...

No, both of the nucular controllers 12F and 24F came without any extra payment whatsoever to my adress in Germany.Did you have to pay extra taxes when importing the Nucular 12F controller?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
you can pull slightly more than 120A from the stock battery Sadly thats not the case anymore. I got a late 2019 model and get BMS cuts if the battery amps get higher than 95A constant. Pulling that less than 5 seconds and you're good but I don't want to risk a forced restart of the system. You woul...

Re: Rohloff: torque limit issues
I think you are mixing two things here: 1. Torque 2. Radial force The thing you feel when accelerating is radial force transfered from the wheel to the ground. Torque on the other hand is the force acting in the middle of the wheel. And as you know Torque is the product of Force times lever length ....

I'm not good at expressing myself with pictures so I will try to explain the tensioner I propose better. It would sit between the swingarm pivot and the motor sprocket and be mounted on the swingarm so that as the suspension is compressed it comes into contact with the lower chain to take up the sl...

Re: Need help with my big wheel scooter project
Do you think 3V 500W hub motor on 16 inch wheel can go 30km/h or more on flat, and 15km/h on medium climb? Of course if paired with the right controller. If i were in your place I would either buy a hub kit with controller (cheap) OR the hub seperate and a VESC (full programmable controller for abo...

Re: Need help with my big wheel scooter project
The 6384 is definitely capable of delivering you desired speed BUT you will have to watch the motor temperatur on longer uphill climbs. I built a scooter with a 6374 170kv and a longboard with a 6384 170kv and both were geared to around 45-50km/h with good acceleration. They are small but very power...

If you got some longer bolts that attach the frame to the battery case, you should be able to get some chinese pit bike foot pegs from ebay or amazon. May have to be a little creative on the mount to the frame but they would be way grippier especially when it gets muddy or wet. You are right I defi...

@MorbidlyObeseKoala (what a name  ) Are you nervous those aluminum channels will bend under the stress from your weight during impacts? Yes I am nervous. Time will tell how well they hold up. Thank you! New footpegs and some ideas for a chain tensioner One of the few things that survived from the first test ride till now are the "footpegs". And even with quotation marks they doens't deserve this description. They cut in your leg if you loose traction and put your foot down for ...

New rear tire and front splash-guard The knobby tire came in the mail and it was time to install it. As it gets more and more wet outside the michelin street tire gets pretty much useless. Re: Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo
Adding a temp-sensor to the LMX 60mm motor Together with the nucular 12f controller I ordered a NTC10k temperature sensor to mount it inside the motor, as the stock one doesn't come with this feature. It was my first time to open up an inrunner so it took a bit longer than I thought. First step was...

Installing a front break So I ordered this brake which I thought could fit: 121300412677.png Turned out: it doesn't fit at all  The brake has two pistons but only on one side and was therefore floating mounted on a bracket. As I don't want to entrust my life to this chinese rubber I decided to...

@technotony007 Thank you! It definitely is! And to make it even more fun I preordered the bigger 24F nucular controller that has double the phase amps (500A) :D Runtime is heavily dependant from your driving style and enviroment. I live in a hilly area so if you always go WOT you get near 50 Wh/ km....

So let's begin with solving the problem of a moveable motormount. The chain jumped of around 4 times now and the last time it snapped the 219 chain master link which lead to the walk of shame with an oily chain in my hand  Instead of modeling a new mount in CAD for the CNC I chose a faster...

@ZERONEST Oh, I read your motor designation wrong  I thought you meant the 138 70h 3000w QS motor, thats why I wrote it is too powerful for such a small bike. The motor you got I think is pretty good compareable to the one I have. It's perfect in size and weight for a pit-bike! Hope you'll have...

@Madyicstik Thanks for your comment and sorry for my late answer. I was concerned about the strength of these T-nuts too but believe me before they break the allen key will damage the head of the bolt. Looking back from now I would choose bigger aluminium profiles (like in my Pit-Bike build). The on...

Re: Chinese Pit Bike Conversion | Nucular 12F | LMX-Motor 60mm | 18s 16Ah LiPo
As you saw in the last video the nucular controller finally arrived. Initially I wanted to place it in front of the batteries and behind the front wheel for cooling, but after reading a bit in the nucular controller thread on ES, it seems that it's very hard to heat this thing up. So I decided to mo...

@SlowCo Thank you! Exactly, the front rim is 14" and the back rim is 12". I intend to use it mostly offroad so the plan is to change the back tire to a cross-profile. 200 meters from my apartment there is a big forest with lots of trails and paths. So choosing between road and dirt was not...

Don't worry, that's not the first time I heard that sentence  The size is right between a normal bike and a pocket bike. It has a seat height of about 780mm which actually makes it quite comfortable to sit on. As I'm about 1,90m tall I look a bit like a grasshopper while riding this thing but t...
