Re: Damn Spam posts!

Damn! Third time in a row. I have no idea what ip it was since it's automatic on my iPad. I'll see if I can find out what it is when it happens again.

Re: Damn Spam posts!

Blast! Just happened again. My VPN service sometimes stops responding, so I have to re-establish a link fairly often over here in Turkey.

Re: Damn Spam posts!

Man! I thought I had just gotten banned. Just got a message now when I logged in that said I'd been permanently banned for spamming. Turns out it was the IP address my VPN assigned me and not my actual account. Just refreshed the VPN and got in fine.

Whew!

Re: new generation BMS

Those look pretty sweet! If they're of similar size as what you've shown, the 72V 100 amp BMS they have is much more compact than those I've seen before. Plus, having an lcd readout screen would be awesome!

Re: I HATE training wheels

I clearly remember how I learned to ride a bike - all on my own. I took my mother's adult-sized, step through bike, and I sat myself down right in the "V" over the cranks. I would just coast down the sidewalk that had a slight slope to it. One I got used to balancing, I worked my way up to actually ...

Re: Our government at work...

Not to voice a dissenting position here - I abhor these actions. However, we need to keep this in perspective. These pepper spraying incidents were the actions of State/city police officers. Not the federal government. So throwing blame on the "government" needs to be more focused on those individua...

Re: DIY Aptera knockoff?

For my "dream build," I really like these cells - even though they are a bit pricey. These would fit nicely in the sub-frame of a trike. 48 of them for 144V 200AH for a total of 28,800 WH! Of course, with these prices it would be almost $18,000 for just the cells, but you'd have great range and with...

Re: Precharge delay circuit

Well, that's certainly good news about the laynard. For your pre-charge problem: Couldn't you use something like a multi-position On-On-Off switch? Position three, all off. Position two, activates the pre-charge circuit, then position one activates the main contactor. It would be purely manual, and ...

Re: DIY Aptera knockoff?

. Interesting. this is the first trike build I've seen where they've used McPherson struts instead of either double wishbone or VW axles for their front suspension. In a way, this is a good move, as they generally take up less real-estate than the other two styles, allowing more room for a side-by-s...

Re: Precharge delay circuit

Ahh... I see. So your cutoff dosen't actually cut the power from the main battery, it's cutting of the 12V charge used to activate the contactor?

Wouldn't it make better sense to put to cutoff directly off the main battery - I would have thought that's where it's supposed to go?

Re: Precharge delay circuit

I believe the intent of this rule is for participants to use a manual switch/punch button as an emergency cutoff. This emergency cutoff should be in addition to your regular power switch (such as a contactor) http://www.cloudelectric.com/category_s/513.htm I think you may be spending a lot of time o...

Some of these posts a terrific - many trikes I've never found on the net before. This is turning out to be a great resource for trike designs! Re: DIY Aptera knockoff?

With a thought towards simplifying body construction: I know that I'm intimidated by the thought of trying to make a mould for a fiberglass body - and I can only assume that many others would be as well. With that in mind, and since we're considering a true DIY project, setting up something like wha...

I'm a bit weird when it comes to gadgets. Although I am a confirmed geek and early adopter, I'm not a huge fan of multi function devices. If I want a phone, I want just a phone.
