The point is, two in series to act as a 70V source feeding the OP PSU.

Adjust from 36V to 72V ,not so small

Re: 70V-ish PSU advice

Yes, for LI chemistries the distinction between a PSU and charger is the auto-termination of the charge cycle based on a "smart" judgment of the target battery being Full. Without that there is greater risk of harm, reduced longevity from overcharging and even fire. A great charger example...

WOW excellent resources, thanks so much for contributing this! 48V is a sweet spot for "backbone" distribution, minimizes distribution losses using cables with lower currents bussed throughout the system using smaller, less expensive conductors then using quality DC-DC chargers & conve...

Re: Common pack design mistakes, how to avoid?

Again, not have to

but certainly is the better way to go.

If only paralleled at the power pair, imbalanced flows creates extra monitoring / balancing headaches

and lower overall lifespan.

Cycle Analyst v3, aka CA3, CAv3 can add PAS to any system that has a throttle input.

100A is the nominal peak phase amps, 50A is the max battery draw rating.

I think no testing to destruction yet, many members are skeptical.

Re: BBSHD FOC controller -Stock Housing- Open Source

OTP for cells should IMO be part of a BMS base functionality.

But thermostatic control of active heating I would implement standalone, maybe as part of a well insulated case.

to swap out in warm seasons save space weight and complexity

Re: APL's Pressure Contact Battery box

Since I have an 11p pack at roughly 29ah,1C would be 29A? That sounds a bit high,.. I thought that 5A was pushing it! Yes as you say half that is much healthier but sometimes we are in a rush. 2C is even OK so long as only once in a while, with healthy well balanced cells, and OTP. > All of the 60v...

Re: "Copper/nickel sandwich" buses for series connections

I started at 0, because the BMS is actually labeled like this (and I do a lot programming 8)). Starting at zero is a very common convention in many fields, and especially with BMS where the total count of balance wires is +1 the cell/group count. Not a mistake, and just ignore statements from anyon...

Re: APL's Pressure Contact Battery box

Make sure your charger auto terminates, try to find out how it measures pack is Full. 60V is just a nominal label You want 66V termination in normal cycling for longevity, ideally stopping right at hitting voltage not holding a long CV/absorb stage. Certainly stay under 67V, unless benchmarking capa...

Re: Common pack design mistakes, how to avoid?

If I did spilt up the 20S6P pack into 20S2P sub packs and put them in parallel; would I also have to paralell all the balance leads for the BMS? No "have to" your call. But yes that approach lets all the sub-packs to be protected and balanced by just one BMS simpler is usually better. Plu...
