Re: Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

"First fully rechargeable carbon dioxide battery with carbon neutrality" Lithium-carbon dioxide batteries are attractive energy storage systems because they have a specific energy density that is more than seven times greater than commonly used lithium-ion batteries. However, until now, scientists h...

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

And where is the software/firmware controlling the motor going to run then? In the Cloud??? You can still have an equivalent of an ECU with an OTA update capability... *sigh Hyundai has an app that will allow owners to change their car programming with their phone. For 2 decades this was basically ...

"design is design", well thanks for clarifying that... I'm not sure what you're on about any more. I tell you a sample piece of lifting equipment is destructively tested with failure point at 50 tonnes and you reply telling me metal parts fail at the yield point. You're still on about this? Re: Where do I get special spokes for my hub motor?

A half dozen reputable traditional bike shops where I am, no one has a spoke threader. Only a single ebike store has one. That's sad. I guess it's a sign of the times. With the garbage big box bikes it's easier and cheaper to buy a new wheel, and for the more expensive stuff you order it made. Is t...

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

That isn't my point, my point is why is the base car de-tuned? It isn't. The plus model is tuned to match the $10K in performance parts. Again, it's not just with supercars. VW does this with a lot of their cars (base Golf vs GTI), Volvo did this with their old 2.4 I5, newer BMWs, and rumor has it ...

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

So you admit that the only difference is a tune? No, there's high performance parts on the plus that aren't on the base model. THAT'S WHY IT COSTS MORE MONEY. This is insane, you're talking super cars, limited production and 2% more hp. It's pure fantasy, this is not how the real world works. Don't...

Re: Where do I get special spokes for my hub motor?

Most reputable bicycle shops have a spoke threader. I think good ones run about $100. My guess would be they don't have the gauge of spoke and are too lazy and too stupid to source them.

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

No, it isn't. I have no idea why you continue to argue me about this specific point when it has very little to do with the main post. The engines of both the Base and Plus models are IDENTICAL save for software. I think I went over your head here. You say the base model is de-tuned, I say the plus ...

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

You said it was because they cost the same to produce, but they don't. It costs a lot more to produce carbon fibre than it does plastic. And a lot more to change the gearing. Probably not $10K for VAG, but it would cost you more in resale and parts. Engine wise, yes they do cost the same to produce...

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

Is that your theory or do you have evidence to support this? There are many manufactures who do this, but here's an example. The newer Audi R8s use the same powerplant between the V10 and the V10 plus, the only difference being a tune. Want more power? Buy the Plus model for an extra $10k, or get i...

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

No, I mean there are cars that are exactly the same drivetrain wise, with the only difference between base and premium trims being a more powerful tune. This isn't about regulations, car companies have done this for a while to make premium models seem more appealing but not actually costing more to...

when I go uphill and stop pedaling for a moment (0.5s) and then continue pedaling, the engine stops supporting. it's hard to drive uphill before the engine starts.
I think you might be close to achieving that by reducing the start degree.

Re: Bafang bbs02 programing pedal stop

I'm not aware of a way to extend that longer. Use a throttle? +1 It's actually a really bad idea to change this. You run the risk of engaging the PAS at a stop sign and then having the bike run away on you. I mean a few tenths of a second isn't a big deal, but a bike can go pretty far in 3 seconds....

Given the context of the discussion which was about the breaking strength of components (and because you didn't specify) I took "designed to hold 1000lbs" as being failure point = ~1001lbs. I actually said the nominal failure point of a lifting component rated for 10 tonnes with a factor of safety ...

This. Manufactures of ICE cars have been de-tuning their base model cars and selling "premium" models where the only difference performance wise is an ECU flash. Because of restrictions imposed by the government. None of this has to do with drive train components or durability. It is 100% a result ...

I upped one of my controllers to 45A using the shunt mod and I've been running it for a month now with no issues.
