Re: BBSHD Voltage Problem Firmware Update & Instructions
Not exactly the thread topic, but there have been multiple comments regarding low-voltage cutoff and/or current restriction for various firmware versions discussed here, hence my post. If it would be better served as a standalone thread, I'm happy to revise. I've got two BBSHD bikes, each with a fa...

Re: TSDZ2 or BBSxx?- Touring eBike Build
I've toured a bit and the reason I would go with a BBSHD is because you get days with strong headwinds which make cycling a nightmare. It's like you're on a treadmill going nowhere and a lot of times you have to get to your destination regardless of the obstacles. PAS is adjustable and once you hit ...

Re: BMS Bypass
I can't find anything definitive on bypassing a common port BMS. I know the B- from the BMS has to go to the battery negative. But do I have to run a seperate charge circuit to the C- and battery positive or not? Per this diagram, if it's common port, then it seems like P+ and B- is all you need ht...

Re: BMS Bypass
My common port BMS only have P- and B- . No C-. Isn't that the point of a common port? They charge thru the discharge connector. I still put a charge connector in parallel with the discharge port. MAybe I don't follow your question, I recently had to bypass a new BMS that I had installed on a used ...

Re: Another BBSHD Off Road Build
You'll know if it starts dropping the chain. Off hand I'd say you might have some trouble, it looks like you could use a few more mm of offset. The HD is pretty powerful and unless you have a lot of hills near you you won't need the lower gears. If you do you might want to consider getting a chain g...

Re: How do you size the right Mid Drive?
Dude, that's a sick build. If you've got a good chain line you're golden. When you do the mod and start pulling 45A you'll get the full potential out of this drive you'll realize it isn't bad for the price. Good bones on that one.

Re: Best place to buy a BBHSD
Maybe but theres still all that bs on the outside that uglies up a build . ^this I ride a lot of trails and I just don't want more things to get hooked on branches and banged up. That's in addition to the aesthetics. The stock controller is good up to 45A and 52V, which pushes my fat butt 30 mph an...

Re: Best place to buy a BBHSD
All bafang mid drive internal controllers are known to fail. Too much heat being next to the motor. I'm not convinced it's heat, not with the way they seal the controller. You won't find a thin silicone gasket held on by crazy glue on a car or motorcycle. Controllers should work with heat, they don...

Re: Best place to buy a BBHSD
So I started installing the kit today. Bafang is still up to their old tricks. The silicone gasket between the controller and case is STILL glued to the case side with what appears to be a cyanoacrylate (ie. Crazy glue) This isn't even a design flaw, this is bad engineering. You don't use a hard set...

Re: Mid Drive Off Road Only BBSHD or TSDZ2
Looks like a good purchase, you will have to be careful with the packaging and items inside, wear gloves and a mask when unpacking the items. Its coming from ground zero. lol, mine shipped on the 17th and was scheduled for delivery yesterday. Not a single journal has any info on how long the virus ...

Re: BBSHD - Not using set speed limits
Alright I think I figured it out. I was testing the speed limit with the back wheel off the ground spinning freely, instead of actually riding it. I guess without some resistance the motor controller isn't able to keep up with the momentum of the free-spinning wheel. I tested my electric scooter th...

Re: Which BMS is better: ANT or JBD?
Does anybody know can this bms be used to track the bike in case of theft? There is, but as far as I can tell it's only available in China. They offer GPS tracking and remote shutdown in new Smart BMS. Is SP30S005 this new Smart BMS? The only one I saw was the Daly Smart BMS on ali. https://www.ali...

Re: Best place to buy a BBHSD
I have the controller off . I never saw any screws other than the three hex screws around the perimeter . I'm waiting on my new controller so I'm dead in the water now . Those just hold the housing to the motor case. You can kind of see the screws holding the controller in at 3 and 9 o'clock, but t...

Re: BBSHD - Not using set speed limits
Throttle and PAS are different modes, with throttle given priority to override PAS.
I think you can tweak your PAS 0 settings to get what you want. If you set limit current% to 1 and then speed limit% to whatever the math works out to you can have a mode that gives you your throttled cruise control.

****** 2screws ******
I edited my previous post to reflect this. There's actually 2 phillips head bolts with square washers that hold the controller to the housing. One by the wires and one opposite to it.
Sometimes the potting covers them, sometimes it doesn't.

Re: Best place to buy a BBHSD
Okay , I'll give that a go , thanks . I assume 1/16 or so for the gasket or same as a water thermostat on a car ? I'll yank my cruiser bikes controller out and do that one too . I'm pretty sure it's 1/16 that I used. Fel-Pro rubberized cork. It's a poor design. The housing is thin and so is the gas...

Re: Best place to buy a BBHSD
It came with a rubber gasket . Silicone. It's garbage. Pop the electronics out of the dead one. There's 2 screws in the corner and by the wires you have to take out. Pull up on the wires and wiggle the controller out. Then you can trace the housing on gasket paper. I prefer cork. A leather punch he...

I'm surprised, I never had an issue with the controller once I started putting a proper gasket on it.
Did you use cork or just regular gasket paper?

It's not a fair comparison. BBSHD is a throttle monster and the TSDZ2 is a PAS poon hound.

Re: Which BMS is better?
Interesting that the first link provides a gps tracking device for your ebike(though you have to buy it separately). I only used smart bms with Xiaoxiang app and they work pretty well. Don't forget to buy a Bluetooth module as the first link does not provide one(based on the description). BBS02 doe...

Yes I just now pulled the trigger at Luna . The problem with them is shipping is pretty slow . I dont think anyone will sell it w/o a controller but you may get lucky .
