Re: jonescg's eCRX pre-build thread!

Will be following this one close. The CRX in that condition (unmodified... riced out...spoiled) is getting very hard to find so the car alone is a great thing to have in 2018. Once it's fully electric it will be a treasure. Im missing my old hoist...shed. So know how you feel about not wanting to st...

Re: I-miev electric car

Are you sure about that ? I know there are two kinds of cells used in the Imiev. One is only available in Japan and is a smaller capacity only ( 10kwh) vs (16kwh) the smaller capacity bank is built with a chemistry that can handle lots of DC fast charging. Over there they do a lot of public DC fast ...

Re: I-miev electric car

Nice one :D It's a under rated forgotten little car. Typicaly my consumption from the battery (avarage) is around 100whr/km when just going with the flow of traffic around my area and up to 110 - 120whr /km if I have more freeway driving or driving up in the hills. Taking in all recharge efficiency ...

Re: I-miev electric car

Range is a funny thing as most people would know in a EV it's the same as a ebike. The range depends a lot on conditions terrain and speed. That said I have a good handle on the expected range in different directions all places are accessible within a 100km radius. To add to this I have set a self im...

Re: I-miev electric car

I have had the imiev for 1 year now  11,000km of driving and haven't touched the thing....there is nothing to do to it other than fill the water in the windscreen washer  I have settled into a long term average consumption from the battery of 100whr - km Thankfully some smart people have ...

Re: crystalyte 4065 build blog

Yes the sleeve isn't a bad idea though a well soldered connection isn't going to go anywhere. This is just an idea though you would have to start from scratch with all your plugs. I'm redoing all my connections controller, battery's and charger. What I want in a plug is a tight fit, low resistance, ...

Re: crystalyte 4065 build blog

Get yourself some nice thick solder 3.2mm and use a big hot 80w minimum iron and you could solder that is 10 seconds.

If you cant find any 3.2 come over and I can give you some.

Perhaps HK don't make them for the 5.5mm bullets. All the lipo packs I have use the 4mm? or so bullets and they have a plastic plug over them to both the male and the female bullet are protected. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg171/earlwbollinger/HXTConnectorPin07.jpg If your controllers capaci...

Re: crystalyte 4065 build blog

The last one is my favorite good old deans plugs. Hobbykings knock off are called (XT nylon T plugs) I have used both and They seems to work as good as the genuine deans plug. Compact, tight fitting and good power handling not to mention inexpensive and quick to put together. I got a few bags of 20 ...

I have go at the trike with 2500w into a little geared hub in a 20" wheel (this friday if you want again) See how that climbs. If thats not enough for you the same style hub motor mid mounted on a BMX or small hardtail with 20 or 24"fat tyres and run the motor through the rear gearset. I'm thinking ...

He will have peddle strike on that bike with small wheels. The bike, motor combo just isn't a good package for that kind of riding. The area he is riding Its not Your typical hills they are very steep. We are talking grany gear and all that happens is your back wheel spins and you don't move. He has...

Re: crystalyte 4065 build blog

It was a nice quick ride around the local area with Lots of variety. Your new bike has some top end and climbs ok for a DD when you keep the speed up and a quiet motor. Was good to blow the spider webs out of the 80/100 outrunner motor. The BMX track with the jumps was fun. shame it sounds like a F1...

Re: crystalyte 4065 build blog

When you ran 6 batteries were you running them as 18s / 2p ? "Over the top speed " Is this on 18s ? What speed do you you get on 12s? Just a thought 2p / 12s could be a compromise if the speed is acceptable. A DD hub is always hard to pedal against. That motor cogging is like riding a bike through s...

I was taking a break from the sphere this past year or so. Though I drop in now and then to see whats going on. It was nice to see another person from The Gap having some fun with E bikes. I have a similar trike though arguably lower Quality terratrike brand. Anyhow it's essentially the same layout though it uses 20" wheels not 16. At first I fitted a Shumaker drive though its the one with a gates carbon fiber toothed belt drive to the rear hub. I'm was using the larger 80/100 out run...

I have now traveled over 1000km now in the Imiev . Typically I charge after traveling 100km distance. or 2/3 of a tank/battery. Ok, I was thinking there would be some minimum time frame to have the car and get the rebate. I wish the AU government would offer rebates. We have zero help or insensitive to purchase EV. The RRP for the I-miev (going off Mitsubishi AU web page) in Australia is about $52,000 drive away. In 2010 whe...

Re: What's the most efficient way to turn wood into electric

It was kind of a Joke but the sad part is its true. In Australia most of out timber stock is hardwood and has a value of $120 - $200 m2 as fire wood. so 1m2 of fire wood sold for say $150 will purchase 1500kwh of electricity . It would be very hard to build a device at home that could extract and st...
