Re: No future for charging networks ?

Not sure what FUD is... whatever. When I travel from here to Florida I can get in my car in the morning and drive the 1050 miles straight through in about 14 hours, including 2 fuel stops. With a Tesla that would simply be impossible. You'd need at least 4 extra hours to charge which pretty much mea...

Re: No future for charging networks ?

LOL... I was comparing apples to apples, the practicality of traveling in fuel cars vs. electric cars carrying a couple of people and their stuff, not pickups pulling trailers?? What does that have to do with anything? Yes, I know. But that means you just have to stop again sooner than you should. S...

Re: No future for charging networks ?

Yes, I know. But that means you just have to stop again sooner than you should. Sorry, these cars make no sense on road trips and will only get worse when there are more of them out there to clog the chargers. OK, 75 minutes to full charge on a supercharger... If one is available... vs 5 minutes to ...

Re: No future for charging networks ?

OK, 75 minutes to full charge on a supercharger... If one is available... vs 5 minutes to fuel a petrol car. Good luck with that. But I do like the Teslas for commuting. I believe the OP was talking about leaps in battery technology that might increase energy density to get 1000km out of a reasonabl...

Re: No future for charging networks ?

Except then you need several hours to "fill up" instead of 5 minutes... that is IF you can find an unoccupied charger. If you aren't first in line for the charger might as well get a room for the night. And I'll believe 1000+ KM range batteries in a meaningful sized vehicle when I see them. At the m...

I didn't think it was new. Just wondered what it was and how it works. I'll google it and have a look. Thanks.

What kind of drive is this?

I saw this today in front of my local Lowes. Rear mounted drive motor turning a cog on the left end of the rear axle. I don't recall seeing anything like it whilst shopping for my TSDZ2 last year. Seems by and large just hub motors and mid-drives. Just curious what the community thinks of this arran...

Re: Tesla Model 3

These cars are great for local/commuting duty... there are MANY in my area... but road trips? Not so much. I just got back from a vacation to Maine and we stopped at some service plazas along the way. Some had Supercharger installations... that were always occupied, with other cars waiting. I can't ...

Re: Luna Cycle X-1 Enduro FS (Bafang M600 / Dengfu M09)

So what is the vertical difference (drop I assume) between the top of the saddle and the top of the bars? I set up all my bikes with the top of the saddle 32.5" from the center of the BB. Usually the top of the saddle is much higher than the bars and I have to get riser stems and such... and that of...

Re: Luna Cycle X-1 Enduro FS (Bafang M600 / Dengfu M09)

Curious as to sizing. A medium seems to be a small selection for a 6 footer. What is your inseam? Surely in the pics the seat is not yet set to your actual riding position. I'd like to see the relative vertical difference between the seat and the handlebars once dialed in. That along with your insea...

Tesla vs Porsche

Gotta love the advances competition brings. Plaid mode? Perhaps Tesla should name the modes Warp 1, Warp 2, etc.

Re: TSDZ2 vs Bafang BBSO2

I have been waiting for Bafang to offer a torque sensor on the BBS series motors so this is a welcome development. Do you know what brand name they will be sold under? Or is not so far along that they have decided on that? There is also another motor being manufactured by ex bafang engineers with a ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Yes, you do have a problem, that isn't normal. You need to disassemble it and see what is failing before it strands you somewhere. Hi guys, sorry, maybe the topic has already been treated but now there are hundreds of pages and it's not easy to find what you need. I have a strong mecanical play on t...

Re: under down tube battery mount

No I didn't. Seems like of you mounted the battery that way there'd be a lot of stress on the locking pin whereas the plastic frame takes it all when mounted nose up. Looks good. Did you try the battery in the opposite direction in the triangle. The profile of the battery looks similar to the angle ...

Re: under down tube battery mount

Just test fitted the super shark case and there is plenty of clearance. This pic with fork uncompressed but there is still plenty of room when I compress it fully. I also test fitted it inside the triangle and it doesn't work. It *might* fit if I ground down the ridges on the nose of the battery cas...

Re: under down tube battery mount

It's a 2003 but upgraded with XT disks and tubeless. I will probably get a new MTB for hitting the trails so this FSR rig would be for general purpose street and gravel ebike duty. I have looked at it briefly and seems to be OK for clearance, but I will test before going forward. I have a spare empt...

Re: under down tube battery mount

Well, this is a big d'oh on my part. My bike does indeed already have water bottle bosses under the down tube. Looks like I have plenty of clearance to the front wheel and not really worried about water. I don't ride in the rain and won't be single tracking this rig through streams. There is still a...

under down tube battery mount

Thinking about electrifying my old Specialized Stumpjumper FSR that probably doesn't have room in the triangle for my 52V super shark pack. I see Luna sells a bike with a similar battery mounted beneath the down tube. Does anyone know if and where such an adapter can be sourced? See the product belo...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I got an answer from Electrify, the original levers and throttle have different connectors. I am kind of surprised that they don't supply pigtails with that convert the Tongsheng connectors to the types needed by the 850C in the "plug and play" kit. So I ordered the matching brake levers and throttl...

I already have the ST Link programmer and cable that I used to update the OEM firmware once. So I Just need to know about the brake and throttle connections before ordering. Question for OSF plug and play setup

I am going to order one of the OSF plug and play controller and display setups from Electrify Bike, probably with 850C display, but have one question: will my original LCD5 cutoff brake levers and throttle plug into this new setup? Or do I need to order those parts (or connectors to splice) that are...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I think I am finally going to jump on the Open Source bandwagon. I found the wiki... Only thing that gives me pause is cutting and splicing the wires. i wish there was a plug and play set of connectors. Also, is there a wiki on the differences in install and function for the LCD3 and 850C besides th...

Re: Tesla Model 3

Sure, lets consider Toyota. They have just a "few" other profitable models for customers to move up to bigger/more luxe, or over to trucks, or eco like hybrids and fuel cell vehicles. They don't rely on Camry folks always upgrading to new Camrys every few years. Do you honestly believe that these gu...

Re: Tesla Model 3

The question is how will Tesla sustain demand once the initial M3 rush is over? Are they expecting M3 customers to trade up to MS? Will there be incremental M3 upgrades... or some new mid level M4 or such... that will get folks to trade? And how will they make a profit long term in the cutthroat aut...
