Re: 50cc auto scooter conversion to electric (with video)

Looking at the pictures, the only part I'm really confused about is how you spliced the output shaft of the motor onto the output of the brushless motor. Do you know if the motor you used had a 10mm output shaft? Trying to find a motor that would match up well, but I've never bought a large out runn...

Do you still have the converted scooter, or did you decide to scrap it?

What to do with old NEXcell NIMH Chargers

Are these useful for anything? I have three laying around. Any way to mod them to charge lithium through a bms with them?

If you want to order online from china, I've had really good support from http://www.em3ev.com/store/ . Great prices also, but shipping will be a bunch, but such is life.

Re: Hobbyking wire trouble?

I've used the 10gauge Turnigy wire before. As far as I can tell it is thin aluminium, or something of that sort. I think the only plus to this style of wire is that it is very flexible. To solder you need to use a fat 100W iron and dip the wire in flux before putting it in the connector. Also, don't...

Re: How can you measure battery's capacity: 15ah vs 25 ah

Do you have a cycle analyst, or even a ebike watt meter?

Charge the battery full, run the bike until battery BMS cuts off. Read the number on the meter when the power cuts off.

Crazy Person. Why would you want to keep freezing ice packs all day long? It's not going to be cheaper than buying a small air conditioner.

I don't know, but looks like the bottom cog is just a sprocket mounted to a standard disc brake mount like so http://www.bikeberry.com/engine-kit-par ... ocket.html

You are best to keep the controller exposed to the air, they are very water resistant. The connectors on the hand are not very water resistant.

FYI, 15Ah Lithium pack will probably get you as far as a 20Ah Sla pack.

Re: New Battery - E-bike - 36v - Newbie

You can not just swap your battery for hobby king lipo. Setup is complex for a newbie, you will need new charger, and a way to monitor the battery etc. If you only have a very basic understanding, and you want to use hobbyking batteries, you have a lot of reading to do. You either need to buy more S...

Re: New Battery - E-bike - 36v - Newbie

You can add 3 more 12v batteries in parallel, you will then have a 36v 24Ah battery instead of a 36V 12Ah battery.

You can use your original 36v charger.

Re: 33cc Gas/Electric hybrid bicycle project

- Arkmundi I like idea of having a smaller battery and a constantly running motor more. Then i wouldn't have to deal with power loss over time as the battery drains, or the problem with starting the engine often. A solution to starting the engine on the fly could perhaps be to use the dynamo as a s...

Re: 14g spokes popping out of Crystalyte rim

I've had countless problems with cheap ebike rims for rear motors. Larger hub motors seem to have more problems than smaller geared hubs. Both mac motors I got from em3ev are in ALEX DM24 Rims. These rims / spokes are awesome, and have not had any problems.

Re: 33cc Gas/Electric hybrid bicycle project

I don't know much about the generator configuration, but most 250w systems will run 24-36v. You should start by ordering yourself the ebike kit. If you are going to charge all the time maybe get a small cheap battery as a buffer, maybe two or three 12v 7ah SLA bricks? Have you ridden a 250watt hub m...

Re: 33cc Gas/Electric hybrid bicycle project

OK, maybe I'm being too negative. Why are you planning on not using the original spokes? I'd think they would be more reliable than drilling the motor like that. You can't thread pipes into the motor shell, it is not thick enough. I think you should build the 250Watt ebike portion first, see how tha...

Re: 33cc Gas/Electric hybrid bicycle project

I just don't think you will be happy with the end result.

How much does the 33cc generator plus gas weigh, I'd invest that weight in more batteries if you need more range.

Is that first sketch supposed to be the hub motor? That also will not work, you have drilled where there are magnets.

Re: 33cc Gas/Electric hybrid bicycle project

This is a very bad idea, 250W motor is not nearly enough power. The bike will weigh too much.

You will get much better efficiency by running the bike directly from the 33cc motor, instead of trying to change a battery.

I saw this scooter come up for sale in my city, I've never head of Vectrix before, i guess the company went defunct.
