Re: Mid-mount Hubmonster Madass

Has anyone tried using statorade and custom hubsinks? At higher RPMs the G-force might prevent a good thermal bridge between the stator and the magnets, especially if used in a mid drive setup. But if used in any sort of start stop traffic, the low RPMs could allow for a bridge. Maybe the rim flange...

Re: Kawasaki Z125 build

I'm working on a Honda Grom build, which is pretty much the same bike. I'm planning to get a 5kw QS hub motor, but I'm worried about heat issues and choosing the right kv. What phase current are you running? Have you noticed any issues with heat dissapation given that the motor is directly in contac...

That looks like shorted mosfets on the green phase. Replacing those should bring it back to life.

The capacitor isn't shorted so I have no idea what the problem is
I haven't been able to find any info on the magnachip mosfets in the controller. What could I use to replace them?

Ok, so I was going over some small bumps in the pavement and all of a sudden the motor cogs really hard and the throttle does nothing. The motors spun freely when not connected to the controller, so I checked to see if the controller connections had any shorts between them and I found one between th...

On the BT module, we use dual Bluetooth chip that supports older standard 2.0 and newer BLE 4.0. Hence, under phone BT settings, you can see "PowerVeloCity-A" (older, supposed to be backward compatible with Android) and "PowerVeloCity-i" (compatible with all iOS and Android 4.4 and above). The curr...

I use an HM-10 bluetooth module to connect to my electric longboard, and that hasn't been working either. I think the Android 8.0.0 Oreo update is the cause of the issue, and after looking it up on the electric-skateboard.builders forum, I found several threads confirming this. Apparently the blueto...

Hmm, that's very strange that you need to connect each time. Once it's connected it should stay there and auto connect when you just start the app. I've mentioned this a few times but haven't heard anything back as to whether you have tried to clear the Bluetooth cache. This is how to do it on S7/8...

What brand and model of phone are you using? Have you tried to go to Bluetooth Cache and clear it then reboot? That usually helps on some wonky Androids. iOS is normally trouble free. Yeah that will hopefully its not bad Blue Tooth Module. Yes, I've done that several times, hasn't changed anything....

I think there might be an issue with my bluetooth module. It won't connect from the app unless I connect through my phone settings first (I only tried that because it wasn't connecting). Half the time the app doesn't even see the module, but when it does and I try to connect, it turns yellow and sli...

The motor is a QS260, between a 205 and 273 in size. I think they are really only found in rim-integrated wheels for the most part. The combo is the same as the other qs hub motors, for both hall and phase wires: Y-Y, G-B, B-G

Thanks, makes more sense now. Would the 13" motor I mentioned above make a difference in cooling? At least the heat wouldn't all go directly into the rim.

So the saturation point is the point at which more amps does not give you more torque, but instead just starts creating more heat in the motor?

Re: Statorade in a 12" rim-integrated hub motor

Not sure about how well ferrofluid does at such high RPM. You might wanna search the forum and look into justin's ferrofluid tests. But those motors have a lot of copper on them. It should take some abuse nicely, but 15kw is probably walking into beyond the saturation point where you get something ...

Re: Statorade in a 12" rim-integrated hub motor

2kW isn't going to be enough for me, so greater cooling might be needed when I push the motor to 10kW or so. You can reduce the temperature of the windings through the use of Statorade, or you can get some more power (say 60% more) out at the same winding temperature. You are not going to get 5x th...
