Re: What tool do I need for this?

My thoughts exactly. For $4 it's good to have either way. Especially since I will eventually be trying out various freewheels to see which configuration I like best for this application. Well, you don't have to guess about the gears. If you know your cadence (I am a spinner, not a masher, and mine ...

Re: What tool do I need for this?

I ordered one thinking it would but it hasn't been delivered yet. After looking at the dimensions on the listing yesterday I began to think it was going to be too small. Now that I put a tape measure to the bike a few moments ago it may just be the correct size after all. We shall see. The tool is ...

It does look like a freewheel tool might work. Have you tried one to see if it would fit?

Re: Help deciding gears / brakes - Bafang 750 Cargo

While IGHs are great, a regular derailleur with a cassette is easier to service than an IGH. You just need a couple of inexpensive tools and a few minutes to replace the cassette. Also, Shimano makes an ebike specific IGH. It is expensive, but might hold up better to the stress of a Bafang motor on ...

The Grin G31X kits have a thermister in the motor. It is listed as a new feature for 2021. https://ebikes.ca/product-info/grin-kits/geared.html 2021 Product Update After some long drawn-out efforts with Bafang we've managed to have two significant updates made to our current supply of G310/G311 moto...

So maybe the torque sensor has a short. Check that it is not in the wire or connector.

Yes it's true but: on 3 September 2018 I bought a 2018 turbo levo after 13 months the engine belt broke, no warranty for use with blevo app in March 2021, the battery broke, a few months after the end of the warranty, 800 € for a battery of only 500wh I didn't buy it back and I sold the bicycle. a ...

Re: tsdz2 lasted less than an hour ...

Well, you probably did void the warranty when you opened the case and modified it. I understand it is frustrating, but I wouldn't blame PSWPower for that. You may have knocked a wire loose or shorted something while you were doing that. It seems more likely to be a problem with the motor controller ...

Re: My 1st ebike, Pls Help Verify Kit/Info Before I Buy

Oh? Maybe the horror stories I've heard were a bit exaggerated... I can't say that I haven't been ripped off by someone on eBay before. It is pretty rare if you look at feedback scores and are careful, but it happens. However, all of my transactions with Chinese sellers have been pretty good. Most ...

Re: My 1st ebike, Pls Help Verify Kit/Info Before I Buy

Actually, I prefer ebay since feedback actually matters and sellers want to protect their ratings. Not many other businesses can be impacted as much by buyer feedback. I'd buy from ebay before ordering from China, or from a lot of US sellers, where feedback doesn't matter or gets lost among other f...

I see... I think there's a multimeter or something like that sitting around here somewhere... However, truing the wheel is like...? If I have to do that shouldn't I save 100$ and just spoke a motor onto my current wheel lol Truing the wheel can be done on the bike with just an inexpensive spoke wre...

Re: My 1st ebike, Pls Help Verify Kit/Info Before I Buy

I recently bought my wife a Brompton Electric. It is a folding bike to go with a non-electric Brompton that I have and will allow us to stow the bikes in the back of a small SUV for trips. The Brompton is designed for the UK ebike regulations of 250w and the motor cuts out at exactly 15.8mph. I hav...

Re: Help decide between All-Axle and GMAC

Just to confirm, the faster 8T will give me more torque which translates to a quicker acceleration to my max speed. I am open to relaxing my spec of no more than 32km/h but I am having trouble understanding why the 8T wouldn't work if I kept the speed limit in place. No, it is the opposite of that ...

Re: Help decide between All-Axle and GMAC

The GMAC is not that hard to install. It has 10mm axles, so there is no filing of the dropouts. Attaching the torque arm to the stay is done with a couple of hose clamps. You will need a cassette removal tool and a chain whip to transfer the cassette from your old wheel to the GMAC wheel or you can ...

Re: Why do I now ride my ebike with light motorcycle gear?

Your argument is like claiming the lack of effectiveness of a handgun for either personal defense or police work when stats might make it look like there's very little numerical support for such. It's that "one time" when it's the only thing that works to save yourself or someone else tha...

Re: Why do I now ride my ebike with light motorcycle gear?

I wear a helmet, but I have to agree with Chalo on this one. If you are riding at normal bicycle speeds <20mph falling off the bike will not usually result in serious head injuries unless you hit a sharp object with your head. However, this is the same risk as falling while running or walking. If yo...

Thanks for the reply! I think i'm leaning now towards the https://ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/motors/rh212-std.html motor instead of the GMAC. I will probably also go with a big 52V 20aH battery so i have as much capacity as I can get. If I don't like the motor down the line I can always ...

Re: My 1st ebike, Pls Help Verify Kit/Info Before I Buy

You are correct that I don't know much about what kind of motor I should be getting. The most common thing I have found for cheap is a "gearless brushless hub motor." I know starting with gears is maybe a bad idea because I have no frame of reference for shifting gears. And I know brushle...

Re: My 1st ebike, Pls Help Verify Kit/Info Before I Buy

I think that maybe getting the cheapest kit I can find and then spending every penny I have left of the budget on the battery is probably the right call? Or, at least, that is definitely the impression I have gotten so far. Thanks again! I don't want to waste my money but, at the same time, I also ...
