On the bright side, it doesn't look typical for a dead lifepo4. None of the pouches have swelled to twice normal size.

Re: Step Through Conversion
The way a townie is built, a rear rack battery is no problem, till it gets to monster size, over 15 pounds weight.
Townies are the near ideal cruiser for conversion, part because they are decent quality, comfortable bikes, but also have a robust rear dropout ideal for motor mounting and torque arms.

Re: Looking for best value DD motor kit on ali express
These kits are pretty generic in that price range. The best would likely be the one you can get, meaning the kit is located in a place not in covid lock down, or war related shipping issues. Price would be secondary, at least in the prototype stages. Re #4, the larger the wheel, the less weight it c...

Re: seatpost rack for battery
Good strong looking rack. Make sure your post is up to it as well. I had one break right off once. After that, I started shoving a broomstick up the seatposts, to give them a bit of time if it cracked, before it breaks off. Do something if the post looks thin and weak. It might be thick and very str...

Re: Idea for front forks torque arms.
Solve the problem with a different fork. But not because it will make the axle longer. Some of those old 250w motors were never designed to be used with a TA. And they were never designed to be used with a fat alloy fork, if that is the case here. Good solid steel fork, grind off the lawyer lips so ...

Re: Idea for front forks torque arms.
Sorry for the confusion, some days I get really stupid. Read too fast, next thing I know I'm thinking gorrillas, vs guerrillas, or whatever. Check the bike with a wrench before every ride would work as good as putting a wrench on the nut permanently. It's not the trike vs the bike that matters with ...

Re: Idea for front forks torque arms.
Delta trike? Don't ride it faster than 15 mph then. That will eliminate crashes that hurt, and the motor spin will just ruin the motor and kill the controller. Once you do ruin that motors wires, killing the controller, the motor you need is sold by E-bikekit. Axle will be long enough for any standa...

Re: Saw many fat tire ebikes this weekend
In my neighborhood, still near where they are building houses, a fat tire can pick up 50% more staples and sheetrock nails. :thumb: Lots of deep dry sand around though, so when I go dirt riding on the mesa with the gas 250, I see guys with big wheel fat tire bikes, some electric, most not. Young str...

Re: Understanding a 1200w Chinese buggy
Well, no way they'd ever lie about the performance. They did not lie really, just did their testing downhill with an 80 pound rider, and batteries that way outperform what they install in it. But if your lead is not new, its sagging enough for about a 25% loss from what they claim. Perk it up by run...

Re: 1Kw GEARED hubs finally here: New Bafang g0hs.1000.dc
Do you know what 48v rpm its wound for? In a slower wind, not crazy slow but just not fast, this could be what pedicabs and longtails have been waiting for.
No point in wound for go fast, it would just be noisy. But crazy torque has its uses!

Re: Idea for front forks torque arms.
Crank it till it strips then, like so many of us have. Some axles strip at way less torque than that. Still curious what you have, that the axle is too short to fit a torque arm on it. The solution is to ride it till the wheel falls off, then buy your new teeth. Or, get a different motor, or d...

Re: Understanding a 1200w Chinese buggy
Looks like a motor that drives both back wheels to me. Not a typical bike setup, but it does not appear to have a differential like a typical golf cart. Lead can charge to as much as 14v, but anything over 13.5v is as full as it will get. You can run it on a 52v battery, meaning a 14s that charges t...

Re: Idea for front forks torque arms.
Hard to say what his real problem is. I wonder why the axle is not long enough to put a good TA on one side at least. Two TA's are best for alloy suspension forks. And nobody said a shitty, loose TA works, it doesn't. You want a tight TA, or its just decoration. If loose, it rocks back in forth in t...

Re: Idea for front forks torque arms.
At least your idea would tend to keep the wheel in the fork. But if its going to spin, its still going to break an aluminum fork. Wrong fork for that motor, or wrong motor for that fork, no solution to that. Change one or the other, so a thin torque arm can fit. Or you can weld an improvement onto a...

Eh, send em the money if you would be fine to take it and set it on fire. If your are shopping that site because its your last money, don't. But my bet is they are a scam. I did the same thing about a year ago, for two hepa air filters. The other guys are right, the price is just about the max you'd...

Re: Do 100mph bikes exist??
Wheelbase length is a definite factor with a normal MTB wheelbase. One reason I bought the xt 250 yamaha last year was to have the shorter, lower frame. Easier to turn around in a tight spot, handles short radius turns on singletrack better than slightly longer dirt bikes. But on the highway, that t...

Re: Running 1000W Controller on 350W Hub
definitely the 350w rated motor type. 40 mph up the hill will take quite a bit more than 1000w of course. I would not consider a fat tire bike for a commute anyway, unless it was a fun shortcut commute in the dirt. However, a fat frame like that will fit a much larger moped or even motorcycle rim an...

Re: Do 100mph bikes exist??
And if you are doing a lot of hard cornering. That's what melted all the cord off my bike tires, while the outside looked fine. Changing the tire after the races, I had an inner tube, a rubber shell, and a hand full of string. I was quite amazed it did not blow on the track. Melted the 9c type hub m...

Re: Running 1000W Controller on 350W Hub
Its going to depend on the actual size of the motor. Wattage of the original set up could be a 500w rated motor running on 350w or a 250 w rated motor running on 350w controller. The tiny motor will look tiny, it won't be 7 inches in diameter, more like 5, maybe 6 inches. If its the small motor, I'v...

Re: Do 100mph bikes exist??
Ya'all got some balls, you bet. I got scared enough at 100 mph on a big bmw. Mostly scared of the road surface itself though, in some spots 120 was not scary at all. Tires are definitely a problem. You want something sturdier than a bicycle tire. This was the primary reason I went f it, and bought t...

Re: Idea for removable "security" build.
If you end up doing this, in the more primitive scooter versions, the controller and throttle can be fairly cheap. And they might leave half a bike alone.
But a smaller bike might be the best answer. So you can make it up stairs easier.

Re: Idea for removable "security" build.
Not practical to remove the wheels. The bolts must be tight, torque arms typically require one or two hose clamps, or a bolt to secure them. And then there is some stuff to secure the wire, but that plug could be located closer to the motor. Bottom line, if its that bad, you cant shop much, and must...

Preaching to the choir but I suppose this spam is tolerated. Maybe the first post can be deleted and it still becomes a good thread.

My guess, the language they were shouting in was Ukranian. I like to take nice expensive helmets, and spray them with cheap spray paint. Then they have zero resale value and can be left hanging on the mirror while I'm in stores. My climate, white or yellow is good, last thing I need in summer is a b...

Re: torque arm picture thread
Seriously nice work dog.
I keep wondering though, when will the motor companies change the axle design. The heinzman motors from 20 years ago had it right. This allowed regular 10mm round axles in the dropouts, but the torque arm had about 20 mm to grab on.
