Re: Ebikes ca proportional regen controller
So I bought GrinTech's total top line components; gmac, phaserunner, CA3, PAS, 14s6p custom batt. The Regen works like this: the throttle is the proportional activator. When braking, the CA3 senses the brake, any 'throttle' applied whilst the brake is ON, is interpreted as Proportional Regen. Applyi...

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?
My CA3 doesn't seem to repeat the motor temperature from the Phaserunner. The Temp reads -39C, LoL. Does yours? No but I don’t have the temperature cable. Anyways given my use (high speed and flat terrain), the motor is not the limitation. I’ve never found it to be even a bit warm after use. YEP! G...

Jil - Nice Ebike!
I too went the the "top line" components of "GMAC 8T (on 29" wheel) + Phaserunner + 14S6P battery + PAS ".

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?
Ahicks, I 'feel ya Man'! I'm pushing 60 myself. Its great that these ebikes can be configured for so many uses and personal styles. Even with full PAS, I still get exercise, contrary to what people guessing what its like might say. For myself, 20mins of cardio on the same bike wasn't much fun. Now, ...

AHicks, "Mostly just to get the bike moving from a dead stop. ". That's an opportunity to increase Range. We humans are good at low speed, high torque, like when starting from a dead start. The MTB as great low gears. My CA3 is programmed NOT to add battery current until I get the Mass Mov...

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?
"Motorcycle background" - YES! Very important. Ride like you're invisible! With the 9 level PAS sensor as the "master", the "throttle" lever (i didn't want the twist) is almost always just for Regen braking, so its more natural than one may think. The Regen on the rear ...

The Motor simulator at Grin Tach was accurate. But around here 28mph is the limit and easily reached.

Ebike_BDrew_Nov2019small.jpg My 14S6P pack: split into two 7S6P on either side of the wheel well. Built it integral to the rack in otherwise wasted space. Its all aluminium,so the air flow of the wheel cools the batteries and two BMS(es). The batteries are Gap Welded as 1S6P packs, then interconnec...

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?
Ebike_BDrew_Nov2019small.jpg I just completed my GMAC8T / Phaserunner / Cycle Analyst 3 / PAS 14S6P system on a 21" MTB Motobecane Elite Trail. In Cruise, applying the Regen requires an Ebrake signal to switch the throttle into Proportional Regen mode. That pull on the brake lever stops the cr...

Looks like the "System" from this thread (my view only) is: 29er Motebecane Elite Trail hard-tail w/Mech Disk brakes (about 286lbs total per Simulator) 9C RH212 Fst DD Hub Motor 52V 13Ah (option to 72v if needed later) (my DIY 18650 cells) Then the Feature Rich control system: Phaserunner/...

Re: Ebikes ca proportional regen controller
Update: Grin has the Phaserunner controller.
Separate the throttle green & blue wires per the manual and program the 0.8V to 0.0v throttle range to proportional braking in their software suite.
The manual (pdf) and sofeware suite are both free so you can see how this works before you buy.

Re: 1 kW motor : MXUS, 9C RH212, or GMAC ?
sleepy_tired, thanks for the quick reply and insights. The CA-3 looks like it IS required to get this setup running. Its fun too. The 9c RH212 Fst simulates close to the GMAC 8t (if I read the graphs correctly) and save about $200usd. looks like about just under 28mph is a max speed, which will prob...

Re: 1 kW motor : MXUS, 9C RH212, or GMAC ?
29er; I'm close to buying the GMAC 8T with Phaserunner from Grin. With the 12pole sensor and crank torque sensor for Ped-assist mode. Also, an analog brake sensor to enable Proportional Regen braking to save brakes (and have that Tesla feel). The rides are flat lands at 35-40mph for about 5 miles, t...
