Re: building a electric enclosed 3 wheeler and need input

A few thoughts; Rear wheel steering is not good for high speed. Drive something with it and you will see what i'm talking about. Need to learn the difference between Amp Hours (ah) and amps (a) don't mix the two. ah is a capacity rating of the battery and Amps is the discharging current. You have Co...

Re: LCD screen backlight flickering

Short answer is I don't know. Some controllers are wired for the CA, if you have one of these then yes. I would not think, the CA is not the same thing as a regular display. LCD's are built for specific controllers to to send signals to the controller to modify it's behavior. The CA only modifies th...

Re: Just more than a bike (low power / low consumption)

You may have misstated your meaning. Larger wheels do not speed up the motor, unless i'm not understanding. Maybe your talking about a Inrunner or Middrive of some type then wheel size does not mater. With the desire to run lower wattage motors and if there isn't the need or desire to max out the to...

Re: Hydrogen storage.....Solid State ??

Hillhater have you played with any fuel cells?

Have been wanting to but the price does not seem to be moving. $3k-$4k for 100w seems high. Was thinking that a person should play with hydrogen storage first. A 300w/h fuel cell would be great for a bike if the storage was not to big/heavy.

Re: Hydrogen storage.....Solid State ??

If we get some type of Solid State Hydrogen Storage looks like the car makers have other plans than going to electric motors. I am now thinking that they will just adapt the fuel systems to use hydrogen. Ford have both hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and H2ICE (hydrogen internal combustion engine) Hydro...

Grin's newest version has a bit more drag than the last version. That was the trade off for more torque. Don't think you could feel the difference.

Re: 1 month off-road trip in Chile : which ebike ?

You get more out of regen than any drag. I could see it on flat ground and would agree with you then. Not on hills or mountains.
A person will fly down letting the wind hold them back and that is a total waste.

Re: 1 month off-road trip in Chile : which ebike ?

Would want regen on a ride like that. would recover part of the effort up hill. Power that low would only use it for climbing the rest of the time you would be carrying it.

Re: LCD screen backlight flickering

Would not focus on the watts. The controller is rated for amps. The watts or amps do not go thru the LCD. The LCD would be match to the controller and they would have a voltage range. With motors it's the heat. The amps can melt wires if using to many. Hoping some would chime in on your display. The...

There is a battery section. Guessing the batteries are the same, volts and amps! You can connect them, it's call "in parallel". The batteries need to be same voltage or within 0.01v. May need to charge one up more or run down the other. You can connect as many as you want. If they are lith...

If I average just below 24 kph and peddle all the time but not hard. I'm using my PAS at 75w -150w end up with a average of 9w/km. This would count hitting the throttle a few times not very much. I have had averages as low as 4w/km but that is turning off pas when going below 16 kph on flat ground. ...

The only way your phases are changed if you did when you fixed the connector. Would check your wiring real good and the connectors for any issues. If your hall sensors are still good it's most likely the controller. But would not assume that until you know the wiring and connectors are good. Battery...

Re: LCD screen backlight flickering

The short answer is buy the same LCD and make sure the pinouts/cables are the same. Guessing and trying out wires are bad. Power to data cable could end the life of the LCD. I'm no help with these. I know they are setup for specific controller. Helped my brother with his. Don't run them myself, Like...

Most would like to option of adjusting the gearing so your ahead of them. There are calculators to figure out the gearing. You need to find out where you are at right now. Then figure out where you want to be. Setting up motors seems simple and it is until you dig in deeper and want to optimize for ...

Always wonder about spindles. Mine have taken some hard hits and no issues yet. I forget about your trike being covered. I just use an old bike here to true my wheels. Have a roll of cardboard 5" tall with a hole in the middle and set my motor on that and start lacing my spokes then move to the...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Just remember gearing it down gives you more torque. It's much better to have the motor to run out of RPM at top speed, easer to drive. If it can go 40 and you drive around at 15 mph then your dogging your motor and harder to control speed. Should jack up the back and see how fast your wheels turn. ...

I run 72v and always on the look out for higher voltage switches with out selling the house. Not sure volts is the problem, it's when you get into high amps DC equipment get's big and expensive. Will let you know if I find anything. People always point me to home solar storage but most only go to 48v.
