Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Here's my limited knowledge on it. 60V and below is safe to handle with your hands if not wet. above that you need to be careful not to cook your fingers. as you get higher voltage's it get's worse as production EV's are. The motor should do ok at 96V as long as the wire insulation is good, no nicks...

San Antonio TX we have not reached .3" this year. We are in the rainy season and the ground is cracked open. The houses that do not water, the grass is dead.

Re: Chevy Bolt first drive

When looking at EV's need to look at the battery data. How much the battery is charging up to. They don't publish this only miles. Don't go by miles. You want a used car that is charging up to 80-90%. 70% they claim you need to change the battery. Life of a battery we all know is how it was treated ...

You don't trust the frame to handle it. Use 2 torque arms and your worries are over.

Re: gas price thread

This has formed in the back of my mind. Starting to believe that the oil companies are price fixing for a price/distance traveled. Guess I could start a chart. It is known that where fuel prices are high ICE gets better fuel mileage. diesel fuel in the USA was always cheaper then everyone starting u...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

The front leaf is made to do 100mm, so you lose the cassette mount but the Iron ring with magnets are the same if my memory servers me correct. You don't lose any power as far as the motor it's physically the same size. The wiring is old style leafmotor bit smaller and out the end of the axel. That ...

Re: My first ebike build: custom-built KMX-based electric velomobile

Problem with work is, it's never enough then they work you into the ground. You seem to be getting a handle on these trikes. Always wanted a KMX, now they seem hard to get and i'm not into wanting as much power of late. Will stick with my Performer it seems to handle my body mass ok. Would like a Ve...

Bikes don't like sitting, like mine has this winter. I will need to re-lube the bike and wax the chain again. Happy that you are getting it back on the road.

Have always been on the fence about nuclear power. Have moved away from it. Radioactive pollution can not be cleaned up, used fuel can not be disposed of. It's the most expensive power. So why? Don't see the plus side anymore. Fear this thread has wondered a bit. I'm still a Gas user, Natural Gas (M...

Re: gas price thread

We adopted ICE before gasoline stations were at all corners. News commented that gasoline prices may stay up for two years. That will give EV's a shot in the arm.

Re: gas price thread

Everyone seems confused about diesels. Guessing at why the sales are falling. It's that we found out that the emissions are toxic and can not be cleaned up without turning it into a paper weight.

I'm sure that we heard this before but made the Local news again. Toyota has entered into a joint venture with GM to produce EV's and phase out all ICE by 2035. Last year or two Toyota had not planned to move away from ICE. The pressure must be one.

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I'm thick this morning, not sure what you mean lose? My worries are with anchoring the motor and not damaging the front forks if you try to run to much power. The front hubs or the one that was given away had the old size (smaller) phase wires and they came out the end of the axel if i'm remembering...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Would like to try the ASI 2000 with leafmotor that should get all the performance out of that motor. Have grins 40a running at 72V that does not push the motor and grins Phaserunner can not give all the boost that the motor can take. The cheaper controllers just seem big or huge. Would not like anyt...

Re: Chevy Bolt first drive

I'm sure it's different where you are, more civilized. As for me in South Texas they want big, powerful. Gasoline is normally cheaper here than most of the US.

I see the smaller SUV's on TV not on the roads here. Truck's, crew cabs are popular here too. Just not for sure how far they go on a budget.

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

This is the wall you run into. You can buy the common controllers or dig deep with time and money and buy a higher end controller. An ASI 2000 would work well with the leafmotor. The thing is you move from entry level to the higher end not much middle ground. This is why I went with higher voltage t...

You get it. The crazy thing; how many here live in big cities and get to see the ICE machines sitting or barely moving on the wide freeways. Now just think how much fuel is being used in a 1/4 million machines twice a day. At least get a hybrid. y The Toecutter » Apr 02 2022 10:33pm Infinite growth ...

I'm 6'2" and most cars are to tight. So now my first test is sitting in a car to check the fit. My Ev is great to sit in. Think the ICE machines are cutting space to get the weight down. EV's are adding space. The battery mounted low makes them feel like a go-kart. The prices are moving up on u...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Bought an Edge a few years ago 5T. (have not put it to used yet) Think it is just a modified leafmotor. Think the added weight and and use of FF killed the idea of needing a heat sink. Still a few floating.
