Thanks to all for the input.
I did have some errors in the voltage readings which made the calculation difficult.
Now resolved and that bit works OK.

Re: BMS Canbus data
The delay at the beginning is the time between me pressing the capture button and me twiddling the knob on the variable output dc power supply. The ramp up and down detection is real time when watching it live. The delay was mine.

Re: BMS Canbus data
I thought it was more useful that it was all together in context and in the zip file, or perhaps you hadn't seen it. Of course I don't expect people to dig around to help if they can. 30v = 3v per cell = 756,75C,75A,75C 75C,75E,760,761 76B,764, 40v = 4v per cell = 9DD,9E2,9DF,9E2 9E4,9E3,9E5,9E7 9F0...

Re: BMS Canbus data
On a slightly different theme when i connected the BMS board to a fake battery it gave cell voltage readings in the CAN data. The BMS reads ten cells per board and is based on the common LTC 6803/4 series chips. Attached are the csv log files from the canbus with several voltages and variations. I l...

Re: BMS Canbus data
Perhaps I mislead you then. Apologies. It's not the actual raw canbus bits crc, but a crc or security check related directly to the 8 data bytes. One or more of the 8 bytes (i.e last two being a security/crc byte/s) I suspect the last byte is a data bytes CRC. The penultimate byte may be a security ...

BMS Canbus data
I'm working on a microcontroller project that might eventually get transferred to a micromite but I am struggling to understand a CANBUS crc and security type code formulae. I sampled some repeating CANBUS data from a working BMS system. I'm wondering how the two bytes at the end of the packet are g...

Re: Shunting power between packs Ideas.
Thanks for the comments. OK a few more details.. This is a Honda Insight MK1 project. Pack A is 50S Lithium supercaps. It's operating range is 110-190V (3.8v per cap max) Pack B is 50S (7-8 year old) A123 pouch 20ah cells. Highish IR. It's operating range is 110-180V approx. (3.6v per cell max) I do...

Shunting power between packs Ideas.
Lets assume we have two 180V ish battery packs A & B that we want to connect in parallel but in a controlled fashion. They won't always be at the same voltage and I want to control; the power flow back and forth between them as they fluctuate. A will sometimes be higher than B by say upto 50V an...

Re: LIC Lithium Supercapacitors
Probably not is the simple answer. But... I had access to the caps at zero cost. I'm interested in them as an experimental base for further research on the Insight IMA/Capacitor/Battery systems. I enjoy tinkering and learning about stuff. I might combine the caps with that old A123 50S pack i used b...

Re: LIC Lithium Supercapacitors
The insight Mk1 gets a lot of it's fuel efficiency from the lean burn engine system. The IMA side makes only a relatively small contribution to the total. However when you consider the appalling SD rate of older nimh cells and the fact in average terrain you don't need long bursts of assist/regen. (...

Re: LIC Lithium Supercapacitors
The manufacturer says 0.5ohm per cap so that means 25mohm for my 50S pack, but i was erring on the side of caution and rounding it up..
I probably don't have the equipment to measure the ESR for the whole package inc contactors/fuse etc. But I might look at that..

Re: LIC Lithium Supercapacitors
It's <50mohm for the whole pack (50 caps in series) not counting interconnections.
It's actually probably less than that. The quoted esr for a single cap is 0.5mohm.

LIC Lithium Supercapacitors
I thought this might interest members on here. I'm not aware of any other supercapacitor equipped road going vehicles in the UK apart from my MK1 Honda Insight. The ageing old Nimh technology hybrid battery pack has been replaced with a Lithium Supercapacitor pack made up of 50 x 2200F Capacitors. T...

Which BMS for 50S Lifepo4 pack.
I'm interested in BMS options for a 50S Lifepo4 pack. Nominal 3.3V per cell. Now I must make it clear. I am not interested in any BMS with a bunch of large mosfets on the board, as I do not want the BMS directly controlling the load/charge current. I want simple signal/logic high low outputs/or seri...

Speaking as a UK PO and past owner of electric bikes/Ev's I would say if you take the Pi55 then the legislation will inevitably be tightened up. If I see anyone on an obviously (special ebike) ;) i would likely have sensible words of advice for them. 30mph without pedaling is clearly OTT. I'm no sai...

Re: Considering buying a '99Prius for $1500, comments pls.
IIRC they use the same battery cells/sticks as the Honda Insight G1 and HCH1 Civic, so new battery sticks are available and you could repair the battery if that is bad which is likely on such an old car. Go for it.

Re: Dr.Bass Steveo found 7s3p Module! Awesome Price!!
I agree we all knew they could have issues when we bought them and the provenance was unknown.
I've used mine for two years I think that's a reasonable test. Perhaps I got lucky.
