Re: wiring 3 horns in series

when I connect my 42 V Li ion battery to the buck converter, I get a nasty spark, until its caps charge. How can I prevent the spark?

Re: wiring 3 horns in series

yes I have a DC DC converter but I read horns can pull allot of amps. I guess I will go with the converter; Im using it for my lights

I was thinking 12V dropped across 3 horns would divide up the V but yeah, 42 V is still across the button with whatever amps that would be at

wiring 3 horns in series

I have a fully charged 42 volt 8P10S Li ion 18650 pack, and I want to add a 12V scooter horn, to my bike. Problem is, the pack is @ 42 V fully charged so putting that much V into one 12V rated horn is problematic. I know they make 36 V+ horns but I dont have one. So, I was thinking about putting (3)...

On a Chinese motor I had, all the magnets came loose, they were held in by some epoxy they use over there. I reset them using JB weld

Re: Controller MOSFET replacement

Yes that makes sense because most of the mosfets were once again blown, so the drivers must be defaulting to on or high to the gates. I was thinking mosfet shoot through also, but could not figure out why they would default to ON. I cant test the drivers because upon connecting up to the battery, no...

blown controller

awhile ago, my controller got wet, powered it up, then blew the fuse from the battery (30 AMP). some mosfets were blown I tested and replaced all the 3508 mosfets. there were some resistors on the board measuring 0 ohms. I dont know what they are used for. The gate surface mount resistors were at ab...

Re: mosfet transistor testing/replacement

Thanks very much for the reply and detalis. So how does that work; a halls senses where one top coil is at, fires one top and bottom pair of N mosfets, current flows through the mosfets to the top coil, then through the bottom mosfet, then through the bottom coil? Why have one high, one low? So that...

mosfet transistor testing/replacement

I have an old Chinese 400W controller It has 6 IRF 3205 225X mosfets, one is blown so I would like to replace all So after looking at the data sheet and testing with a diode checker from S to D and getting a .500 drop, it seems they are all N type mosfets Is this correct? I thought the controller ha...

used sanyo 18650 cells at 2.0 AH capacity

I have been given several panasonic ebike li ion battery packs, and have capacity checked the cells using the TEC 06 capacity checker, and about 1/2 of the cells are all at 2.0 AH being that the spec sheet says typical capcacity at 2250 AH, seems 2.0 isnt that bad? Does this indicate lots of capacit...

for the .430 mA current discharge, how did you get that # from the .2C discharge rate?

These cells are quite old, from a bike shop who gave them to me. I opened the case, and some were reading 4 V so I kept them, and now doing the discharge test

TEC 06 LI ION 18650 DISCHARGE DATA

I have a TEC 06 Li ion battery capacity checker, I got on ebay. I set the V cut off at 3.00 V, Discharge current at 1000 mA These cells were initially charged to about 4.0 V when testing 4 cells, I got the following data: 1.069 AH capacity 546 mOhms internal resistance .849 AH capacity .086 mOhms in...

Controller MOSFET replacement

The inside of my controller got wet, and after testing the MOSFETS with the DMM, I found 2 of them to be shorted out. The ID # on them are F101DE IR 251H 2D 71 I cannot find any spec sheet or replacement. These are driven by gate drivers, not logic level driven, so I would need that type of replacem...

I ordered the li ion cell discharger from ebay, awaiting its arrival

best I can do now is charge ride check

Re: Acceptable Battery Sag

No. Are these scrapped secondhand cells? yes They are not Chinese though. I have the data sheet it seems the discharge rate is 2.15 A, so 4 of these 18650 Sanyo in parallel, would handle 5 amps, I measure them off the charger with BMS, all balanced at 4.2 I will do another ride, and check the balan...

Re: Acceptable Battery Sag

ok after another ride I will check the cells balance voltage again, for any duds or out of balance. I checked my phase wires to ground, all at infinity so nothing leaking there.

is 1 volt an acceptable number for out of balance tolerance? for example most cells at 4.0 and one at 3.2?

Motor jitter on initial throttle, later disappears

During an initial throttle from stop, my motor jitters until I get up to speed, then it disappears

as the motor smooths out, was wondering if this is a halls problem, or controller

I tried the halls LED tester with 9 Volt battery; all halls were firing during a wheel spin

Re: Acceptable Battery Sag

at about 5 amps Im sagging at 3 volts, and loosing about 1V per KM Im using a watt meter to monitor this as for measuring each cell, I just use a DMM to do it after a ride. The BMS cuts out the pack at anything over 37 volts or so, so I am not using it except for charging. After a ride, the cells ar...

Acceptable Battery Sag

I have a 10S4P pack, and my sag is averaging 3 V (ex. 41 no throttle, 39 half throttle) on even terrain. was wondering is this is average, or quite bad. The cells are a bit used Also, Ive read that most BMS start to balance at 4.2 V, but its best to charge to 4.0 for battery life extension how do we...

Re: BMS balance time

I have added another 2P10S set, parralled all the cells, and noticed a considerably longer charge and balance cycle Im guessing this is normal? when I took off the charger at 0.0 W and 42V, all cells were balanced, but when I placed back on the charger (no use) the watts reading jumped back up to .1...
