Re: Best Motor for friction drive

For friction drive, the size of the tire doesn't matter.. the wheel is acting as an idler gear, transferring the surface speed of the motor to the road. In other words, the road speed will be the same as the surface speed of the motor (or drive roller) regardless of wheel diameter. You can work out...

Best Motor for friction drive

What is the best motor for a friction drive for a 27.5in 2.25in tire? I am planning to use a 6s3p battery pack. I am currently looking at these two: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-aerodrive-sk3-6374-192kv-brushless-outrunner-motor.html https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-aerodrive-sk3-6374-149k...

Re: New battery pack buid -- cell questions

At the top side just don't push voltage too high, nor hold Absorb/CV too long. Stopping at 4.1V should be low enough. Actual usable SoC sacrificed at that end is likely low single digits. Sacrificing range at the bottom end buys more lifecycles for sure, up to you where to draw the line. What would...

Re: New battery pack buid -- cell questions

I am not sure if you are going to gain a lot more battery life charging to 3.93. But charging to 4.1 definitely gets you more battery life. Why did you choose 3.93 by the way? I read it from a article on battery university . You can read more from the link I have provided. In terms of longevity, th...

Re: How to determine the current required to balance battery pack?

All balance current is is the amount of current the balancer can bypass on full cells, while still allowing that same current to flow into non-full cells. So the "right amount" is determined by how quickly you want balancing to finish. Which itself is determined by how poor quality or poo...

New battery pack buid -- cell questions

I am planning to build a 3P6S battery pack. Right now I use LG MJ1 cells. I always charge these cells to full. With the new pack I will be charging only up to 3.93V to increase the cycles I can get out the pack. How should I size the new pack? Also, I read that it is optimal to operate the battery i...

PAS using VESC

I am trying to build a PAS on my ebike which uses a VESC controller. I stumbled upon two great projects by https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=84042&p=1231237#p1231237 https://www.pedelecforum.de/forum/index.php?threads/elfkw-umbau-mit-programmierbarem-arduino-controller.1...

How to determine the current required to balance battery pack?

How do I determine the right amount of current to use to balance the battery packs? Should I go with Active Balancing for small battery packs or should I just stick to passive balancing?

Thanks

A123 systems Batteries

I read somewhere that they got bankrupt.... Is that true? Where can I buy their cells from? Question to those who have experience with a123 systems: I know A123 systems batteries are highly tolerant.. Just want to hear from those who have used them.. I am planning to charge those cells ~3C-4C, max d...

Re: Help me choose the right learning path to building my own Battery Management System

Well looking at the existing related Open Hardware / FOSS projects out there would certainly be a part of it, the goal being reverse-engineering their design process, figuring out why **those** components were selected. Or a shortcut being to start with one and "fork" it to meet your need...

Help me choose the right learning path to building my own Battery Management System

Hey there! I am from a completely non-technical background. I decided to build my own e-bike and this month has been a lot of learning... I learnt many new things calculating power requirements, mechanical calculations, battery pack sizing, motor controllers, etc. I am now in the stage of selecting ...
