Re: Changes in the Endless Sphere Community

I have been reading here for many years. The change? Money got involved. It changed from a hobby to a business. Some have been influenced, some have been bought, some have been scared. Several whose character I did not question, I learned I was wrong. I have seen payment rendered for work done, and ...

Re: Ebike orders not filled or very late

You did not buy an e-bike, you threw money away on a lottery ticket. You spent money on a hope and a dream, a marketing pitch which might be sincere, but likely from an inexperienced person with no clue how to run a business. OR, it could be a deliberate scam from a con artist who makes his living o...

Re: Diy build. Questions questions, so many questions

48V battery usually has 13 cells in series. 13 X 4.2 v per cell = 54.6. if you have 12 cells in series, 50.4 is fully charged. 48.6 would be 4.05 for 12S, a bit low, but workable. 13S the motor spins faster. Voltage is speed regulation, essentially. Controller should have LVC, low voltage cutoff. Va...

For what Possible reason would you do such a thing? Well, first, you are going to need to find somebody who is not an idiot. No...

First, laboratory testing is a wonderful thing and can provide much information. However, very, very few products are exclusively used in laboratories. Another way to look at this - if the weatherman says there is a 5% chance of rain, do you take your umbrella? How about a 5% chance of severe lightn...

Re: What could be the cause of a tripping bms

First wild guess - somebody fed the BMS some really good LSD? Second wild guess - you live in Canada, and the battery was stored in extreme cold? As repeatedly stated, those extremely low cells constitute a severe risk and should be replaced. That vehicle should not be anywhere within 50 feet of fla...

So, you have blown one controller in less than a month, and the first one lasted an even shorter time. Both happened AFTER the wires were all replaced and re-soldered into the motor. Describe the events surrounding this incident. Powered on when the wires were ripped, perhaps? HOW LONG DID THE CONTR...

Re: observable symptoms as cells degrade

Along with a great majority of the user base, I do not possess any device to detect or measure Internal Resistance. I have four, red, LEDs. I know how far I can go, on both medium and high speed settings, for each light, and I know both data points back from when the battery was new. That is all I n...

Re: BionX refuses to connect to connect to BBI or BigXionFlasher

IMO, Facebook in general is a useless, worthless, total waste of time that I have spent virtually no time at all looking at. It is, to me, a near-perfect example of the garbage produced by much of modern "social media". Unless you really want to know who just farted at taco bell. In terms of ESFB, a...

Sorry I missed the update. Just wanted to note the value of the response, and kudos to the OP for verifying a solution to the problem. So many fail to do this basic step. A collective memory of what went wrong, without the workable solution, has little value other than detailing what did NOT work. W...

Re: is a motor dedicated to 36v or 48v

The motor, no. Just varies speed, as mentioned, within reason. The controller, however, has programmed LVC limits which often cannot be changed, and also usually physical limitations in the capacitors, ie., Some 36V controllers can do 48V just fine, and Some will pop their caps. Some can do 48 but n...

Re: observable symptoms as cells degrade

I am going to disagree with the last quoted paragraph. The difference in storage capacity, available wattage, between 4.2 per cell and 4.0 is not a "surface charge", there is significant wattage which should be available there. A small amount, such as declining from 54.6 to 54, or 53.8 or so, is not...

Re: Parallelling 2 Li-ion batteries with different internal resistance

Keyboard cable would not have enough wires, a VGA cable would. Looking at the amount of work required to parallel as you are suggesting, and considering the issues involved, might it not be more beneficial and not very much additional work to just recell the pack, and have a battery which would last...

Having dealt extensively with proprietary hardware in another industry, that is why I avoid it like the plague and heinous evil foisted upon mankind that it truly is. Re: Parallelling 2 Li-ion batteries with different internal resistance

Does your system REQUIRE the Bosch BMS in order to be functional? You have an old, tired, formally 11 ah pack which now has a much reduced capacity. You plan to get a new, 20ah pack, and combine the two. The original pack will likely supply about one-quarter the range of the new pack, which amount w...

Curtis - Hub motors do not come in wheel sizes, they are HUBS. Rims come in wheel sizes, and spokes are made to fit between rim and hub. Ebikeling simply does not offer the service to build a motor into a 27.5" wheel. Take apart existing wheel, get spokes made to order to fit rim to motor, build a n...

What is it you are trying to achieve? More speed, range, hill-climbing? Current plan seems unwise, though doable. That thing about not using full throttle, well, that just never happens. The big DD rear hub is a good choice in many situations, weight and unpowered drag are the drawbacks. Simply maki...

general thoughts - 1. They are heavy and awkward to carry around. 2. The connectors often have a limited cycle life. 3. Forgot to ask if the delivery address is specifically identified as a place of business. This is very important.

Also very important is to verify tracking info and open a dispute with the shipper. Basically, they will do a lot of the required legal legwork for you.

Did you obtain a specific Return Merchandise Authorization from the vendor? Next, when you ship a valuable item, spend a couple doll...
