Re: New York DMV Abandoned vehicle/vessel

Don't know if you are still looking at this but, coupla things. The letter you got from the police saying it is not stolen. Good, but NOT what the law specifies, "have no interest". That is a very different thing, and specific wording is important. Just off the top of my head, "interest" would inclu...

Re: New York DMV Abandoned vehicle/vessel

Almost every US jurisdiction has a similar 90-day, abandoned property law. Go to your local Courthouse, Clerk of Courts office, BE NICE, BE FRIENDLY, BE POLITE, and they will direct you to a terminal where you can read and print out, for a moderate printing fee, usually $1 per page, the entire law. ...

So, you are currently in possession of a car valued at $6,000, you are aware of and have spoken to the registered owner, and intent to part it out? That is grand theft auto, hope you get a good cellmate. You do not ask them for help, you offer to help them. "You have a car under your ownership, for ...

As above, the sensor must be Extremely Close to function.

Good you found the test, now you know. There is a way to reduce the combinations you need to try, this you should locate for future reference.

Describe the events surrounding blowing the controller originally. It failed IMMEDIATELY after replacing the controller? Ran for, .....what? Seconds, minutes? Is each run time roughly similar, or very closely the same? Have you tested several hours after failure, 1 day, 1.5 days, 2, etc? Are you tes...

If you wanted the chainguard, you bought the wrong motor. Hopefully the battery including the mounting bracket, which attaches to the water bottle mounts. If your bike does not have water bottle mounts, then looks like you are 2 for 2. You can have the mounts installed, if you are willing to drill h...

That is now two new posts in a row that have been deleted. Interesting. Posted by others, there for at least a few hours, nothing controversial, gone now. The last referred to a new construction method for the gears, it is important to note here that the gears themselves or the grease does not reall...

Re: Hub motor not turning

When you say you changed the "Battery Attachment", are you referring to the electrical connector as opposed to the attachment to the bike frame? And, IMMEDIATELY after changing this attachment, it stopped working, and BEFORE changing this attachment, it DID work, and NEVER worked after changing this...

Just want to make sure I got this right. So, you ran the wires, for the lights, thru the frame, and, um, you THINK you MAY have shorted these wires, when running them. Lights meant to run at full pack voltage, by any chance? Then, after connecting everything, and KNOWING, that you may have shorted t...

Re: Brainpower controller and s866 display ,problems

Number 1 thing to check, ALWAYS, for nearly any problem, is loose connections, check individual pins, everything, more than once. Connectors are not solid, pins can get loose, wires cut or frayed, Chinese quality control is minimal to non-existant. Not familiar with that controller or display, but d...

Re: What gearbox choices do mid drives have?

There are specific models of Alfine and Nuvinci hubs that are recommended, and apparently most Rohloff hubs, these are well out of my price range. Some newer models are actually warranted for electric drives. For the vast majority, the warranty is void if used with a motor. Chris, which model of Stu...

Re: What gearbox choices do mid drives have?

You have the gear cluster on the rear wheel or you can use a good quality IGH, are you looking for something other than what normally mounts on a bicycle? If so, then not too many at all as the existing options seem to work for most.

Health and Fitness, I want you to read this AGAIN: As for the rolling backwards issue, occasionally when I rolled it backwards it wouldn't turn. Canbus is just communication, if it works with the replacement battery, that indicates you should be fine.

Possible some of the BMS protection features depend on it, not likely, but possible. Germans.

Run it till it drops.

It sounds very much like what would happen with a controller which could operate on EITHER 36V, or 48V, with a corresponding low voltage cutoff. If the voltage is not selectable, you have verified battery voltage readings and their is no problem with your meter, then either the controller, or the di...

Interesting. NOT being "Canbus enabled" is a good thing. Charging thru the discharge ports usually does not involve any overcharge protection from the BMS, and SFAIK balancing functions also not active, though not sure on that. How many pins on the battery, the bike cradle, and the charging cradle, ...
