Re: Stack-able Low Cost Balancing BMS

To the "Quiescent current" part - it is a more thoughtful approach to introduce a configurable disconnect timer, rather than than pinch pennies trying to extend a shelf-life of a battery with a hooked-up BMS, IMHO. What is BMS going to do if it senses a battery voltage going down ? Zilch, because it...

Re: $35,000 Tesla Model 3 confirmed - Preorder opens in Marc

Not so easy to achieve (<0.28) drag efficiency and still have room for five people and a battery pack in a sub 30K car. The whole "looks thing" is very subjective, to me Tesla looks like a stepped on Viper. Once you learn of Leaf's "peculiarities", it is actually alright and at 45mPh it can go above...

So anybody with success wiring any CA to a Leaf?
In summary: Shunt is a no-brainer, but Voltage Divider with a shared ground is a complication, right?

Nice one. Thanks.

Any leads on the good high voltage DC-DC boost converters (36v->400v, 300w)?

Solar charger integration :) the roof has enouph space for 500-600 wh Wp of panels, considering Leaf is burning 3 kw per mile mi/kWh, it is not a lot, but would be supernice

Phoenix Brute (5305) - Crystalyte 4840 or Mini-E?

The bike has been parked for a while, wiring got chewed up. The motor is a first gen, no frills, no disk brake plate. Now that I have to rewire most of it, should I use the old upgraded 4840 (traces, shunt, MOSFETs, regen button, CA tap) or switch to the Mini-E? Why? (a link will do) :) Planning to ...

Not to the beat dead horse, but all that "check, check, check" is pure BS. With all do respect :D Average life expectancy is 70 years in Russia. Just so you know. Re: The most advanced Adaptto Mini-E Controller + BMS

I explored this idea as well, and I noticed that the price of a MAX-E in USD has not changed since last summer. The fact that Adaptto is dealing in an international market with customers paying in somewhat stable currencies is likely saving their butt right now. What this allows them to do is keep ...

Re: EVG Global 24v ebike controller failure - help please

Test your brake connections, look at sensors, should be no continuity when idle (lever not pressed).
Both of them inhibit controller's output when applied (continuity). If nothing works contact me directly, I might have a spare 24v controller on the shelf.

Re: EV Global charger smoked, MOSFET replacement questions

One thing that I've noticed, the new MOSFET "bled off" the static charge from the gate fairly quickly, performing this test: TEST #4 Check Drain-Source junction for proper conduction. make shure that you have not touched the Gate lead since you turned the device "on". probe with the RED (+) on the D...

Re: EV Global charger smoked, MOSFET replacement questions

So I replaced the MOSFET with the FCPF22N60 and it does not appear to turn on. The charger turns on, but does not push any current. I've compared the Vgs and the values seem to interlace (not identical though). This is the datasheet for the original one, btw. The circuit of the charger is very simil...

Re: EV Global charger smoked, MOSFET replacement questions

Understood, and I'm balancing them once a month (used to be once a week). The cells are lipo.
We digressed, this little charger can run a 10s pack (lowest settings) or a 12s (highest), got me going many many times, really want to fix it, any ideas on the MOSFET replacement strategy?

DOGMAN,

I respect you for your valuable input on the topic of EVG and such, but it is a CC/CV charger with three adjustable ranges, coming in a neat "always there" package, how is it not suitable for lithium?

Is blue disk a polyfuze, if so maybe it is not the FET that released the smoke? How do I test?
The chip is:

w9965002

another one: sd3843a

My original question still stands, which values should I be comparing MOSFETs by for this application?

Sorry, this is a pic of a charger from the other thread. You must be talking about the pink 1/4w resistor. If I adjust the current handling levels, don't I need to replace the FET still to match the power levels? http://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=19836&t=1&sid=524ff51f32717732aaa...

EV Global charger smoked, MOSFET replacement questions

I'm using original EV Global charger to charge the 12s4p LiPo pack that I stuffed into a factory box. Turned it up to 50.2v and 3A (by adjusting VR1 VR2) - was running fine for a while, then I removed the cover (which hosted a fan) and turned the VR2 all they way up - got almost 3.3A out of it. The ...

Okay, all emotions aside, how do you "properly" restore a diminished LiPo cell? I left a pack with a 2s-6s monitor for week, the whole pack got ridiculously unbalanced. Seems kind of crazy, since both items are being sold by HK as a symbiotic pair with no fine print. Anyways, I could spring A123 18...
