Re: Exhaust fan on velomobile doubling as propulsion

So? & You seem refer to a ducted FAN Ducted props avoid vortex losses at the tips. propfan2_1.jpg The propulsive efficiency of a propfan engine is increased by the high bypass ratio achieved using external fan blades. The efficiency boost is maintained even at high speeds because the fan blades are ...

Re: Exhaust fan on velomobile doubling as propulsion

You seem to equate 'fan' and 'propeller', fans are far less efficient than propellers under most conditions. At equal power: A large diameter propeller will produce more thrust, a fan, less because of the protective duct that surrounds the fan. Propellers are ancient, like Archimedes Screw, yet effi...

FWIW: Aluminum extrusion AKA "Raspberry Pi" fins WITH thermal contact adhesive ( and extra adhesive fillets ) are working on my BBS02 Each fin unit is relatively small and can be applied like tiles. Not pretty or 'bolt on' like the bespoke Grin unit, but readily available and inexpensive. Good luck ...

Schwinn Twinn Crazy FAST & terrifying either pushing or steering A thrill ride by design. For paired racers, there is less wind resistance per set of legs. For the average couple, you can maintain a conversation while you pedal, plus if one member of the couple is a strong cyclist, the weaker cyclis...

Re: Old GT Full Suspension - The Perfect Road Build Platform?

The Specialized "Epic" FSR had a rear suspension design that caught my attention for a possible hub motor build, because it does not interfere with 'the triangle'.

Bike has potential, I think, do you have a G T that fits? A Vintage Hydraulic brake maybe an option, Your pictured triangle looks bigger than the specialized = knock off? Imagine rocks like this GT winner vid, with power instead of pedaling. https://youtu.be/IZ0fsxv-KNw?t=112 Since the v-brake would...

Hi, Yes, I considered that model, LTS and your hub motor plan reads well to me. The bike looks good and linking the spring in that manner maybe superior to other designs. Articles I read about the GT indicated a good ride, maybe one of the best, a winner Complaints included squeaking which is effect...

:flame: Strips FWIW, solder is usually the worst (short of adhesives) way to bond stuff together, because it usually isn't as strong as a crimped (or bolted) connection, and has higher resistance, too. Where solder wins is in having a much larger wetted area than the area making firm contact in a ty...
