Has anyone upgraded a Segway x160 battery? I'm buying one tomorrow. Need to know before I buy.
Its about $1900 shipped for a bigger battery and matching charger. What sort of killer deal are you getting on a X160?!?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The pictures of the 2021 I can find have a top clamp that droops down at the tubes vs the older flat one I have. You want it to go up? Can you just flip it over? You want low stack height on top or bottom (or both?) The upgraded taper bearing adds nothing to the bottom as it fits inside the head tub...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I don't mean to argue either. I meant can't hurt for anyone to try. A bottle of Stans is cheap. It would be good to hear more feedback from users doing it I've ordered 17" supermoto wheels that I'm going to put dirt tires on and see if I can lower a SurRon enough for my kid to ride (sort of a D...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Terrain is different? Some trails here I never have a problem. One had little root bits sticking up that are fond of messing up tire beads. Running across a creek, clipping a small rock, and getting dirt in the bead wsa a fun one too. Though by in large I mostly get flats in wrecks where I slide. St...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

What is possibly not OK? Pulling the tire off the rim enough in a corner for it to go (nearly)instanly fat. I run a Tubliss system on the motorcycles and SurRon but I run Stan's tubeless on my mtbs (29ers w/ 2.35" tires so ballpark SurRon sized.) Anything below 12-ish psi on those and ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

asin() is correct as acos(~0)=90deg. Big difference. SOHCAHTOA Trail is as big a factor as head angle so don't discount that. Early 29ers w/ 26er low axle offset steered like crap until new high offset forks came about and reduced trail back to a reasonable number. Not sure which downhill forks have...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Can anybody tell me the head tube angle of a stock Sur Ron? Per sur-ron.ro/.it/etc its 26deg (= 64deg in common head angle terms) https://sur-ron.ro/project/light-bee-x/ https://www.aebikes.com.au/specifications.html But there have been a couple different forks on the front (26 & 27.5) so who k...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

A) I can skip the primary belt w/ Nuc24F w/ accel set to very high default. Toning it down a hair fixed it. The stock controller could never do it. FWIW, Belts often have MORE teeth engaged since they are smaller pitch. For example, I think the OEM motor pulley is 23T and even w/ a #219 chain conver...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

It doesn't matter who makes them for lightspeed. Its the size of the batteries themselves. The stock SurRon doesn't use staggered cells. https://www.electricbike.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/SurRon12.png So one assumes that lightspeed does stagger and makes room for the extra 16 cells to go from 1...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Ok, I see that down the page now. The Samsung 35E is 3.5Ah but with only half the discharge rate (8A vs 15A of 30E). They say 16S 304 cells so thats 16S19P. Edit: I has 26650s on the brain. How do they fit so much more than everyone else? Stock is 11p? Litespeed can pack 12P. How do they squeeze 60%...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Bad connection (power or ground) that goes loose when you shove all the wires back in place?
EMI is another possibility. The LED likely has a switching power supply and maybe not a lot of input filtering. A capacitor and/or ferrite bead would help if that was the case. Is it CE/FCC listed?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I've figured out more about the X160. Will dump here in case it helps someone else out: 1) The X160 battery really isn't 48V nominal. Its really 52.5V nominal (using the same 3.75V/cell nominal the X260 is calculated with.) Its 14S (vs 16S SurRon/X260). So a X260 battery would yield 16S/14S=1.14x sp...

Segway X160 vs X260

Is there a motor & controller different in the Segway X160 and X260? Anyone here have a X160? I've been looking for a bike for the kid and I might have a line for a local X160 thats for sale. I know the 48V vs 60V battery and suspension/wheel differences. Some marketing info says the X160 has le...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

This is normal as the Nuc comes. You don't need to change any wiring - you need to change the 'Disable button' setting in 'Controller - Extra Parameters' to Switch (make sure to not set 'Button', otherwise you may not be able to re-enable the controller without some shenanigans). The key is already...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

I installed my new 24F in my Sur-Ron to get it running again (the oem controller died.) Having a great time so far! However, The control comes on w/ the battery breaker and not the key. Is that normal? Any way to change it? An interesting observation. I can ride it around w/ just the breaker on (as ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Got the Nuc24F installed over the weekend. Oh wow, its a blast! :D Great throttle response! I had trouble getting the larger 3x3 connector seated all the way. Brand A female vs Brand B male don't mate perfectly. TIGHT fit. I trip the oem battery BMS at 120A but not at 110A. Those are the only two da...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Thanks! Thats the 70/100-19 Maxis IT? Could you take a pic? Does it get narrower at the bridge? My tire is probably similar width as yours but will be ~1" closer to the bridge (25" vs 27.1" OD spec) DVO got back to me quickly but they aren't used to those sized tires/rims so couldn't ...

Anyone have the DVO Onyx DC fork option? Wondering if it has as much clearance between the legs as a Fox 40. Wondering if my 2.75"x21 wheel/tire will also fit in the DVO fork (fits the Fox but does NOT fit the stock RST Killah fork.) I sent a support email off to DVO but not sure how quick they...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Check out @surronshop on Instagram / Facebook. They have 60v/52ah packs that can ship globally. Looking for someone to go in on 2 packs with me. $1600 per battery, $800 shipping. It gets cheaper if you buy two... They say it can pull 250 amps. Their videos seem to prove it as well. Super interested...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I have a Nucular 24F coming soon and I've been looking at the Lightspeed batts. I'm leaning towards the 60V/42Ah as it fits stock. Would make swapping back/forth to the stock battery easier - could just program one of the modes to have less current. The voltage limits don't change. Shouldn't give up...

DIY X160?

Has anyone thought of building a DIY X160 for a little kid? My kid is 10 and is riding an OSET 20R now. Its small for him riding trails w/ the seat and top speed is low. He rode a friends KLX110 last weekend and loved it. Though he can't shift it, kick start it, or pick it back up when it fell over ...
