Litespeed 72V 32Ah molicell 21700 batt is 373mm tall. The cables glands sticking out the top are taller.

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

i think 20kg is a "Good" Battery weight. "We" want a "bigger-surron" and not a full size MX Bike. so Ending up with 75Kg should be the target. I don't think 75kg is achievable. A stock SR is about 55kg? fork: Fox40 2.8kg, CR85 10kg = +7kg wheels/tires: 8.8kg oem (no sp...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Haha, OMG, and that's exactly why they're out of business, that must have cost a fortune to do.... Likely not the reason. KTM/Honda/SurRon/etc all go full custom. That casting wouldn't have been too expensive. If you are going to hit those performance/weight targets there is no other choice. CR85 f...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Everything on the Alta is custom (of course.) Here is the cutaway diagram: http://www.mcnews.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2019-Redshift-EXR-Dual-Sport-7.jpg No one says you can't make the battery compartment bigger but at a minimum it should fit a SurRon battery. There have to be more of those ...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

The idea with using a Surron motor was that they are widely available in bikes already, so the idea would be, people who have a Surron already would just transplant all of their components into this new frame. But yeah, still trying to figure all of this out. So thoughts and feedback are appreciate...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Forget using the surron motor. If you design something go with a proper motor like 3kw qs motors. Which model do you recommend? The biggest one you can fit. One of the 3kW QS mid-drives has the reduction gear in it (edit: see the one posted above) so you can't do the concentric pivot jack sha...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Anyone ever tried to pot the motor windings? (Warning: I'm thinking out loud :flame: ) We were thermally potting some inductors into an aluminum casting at work the other day in a prototype charge controller (we do this in production a lot.) I had recently been viewing a thread here w/ the SR motor ...

Looks nice! Case looks very professional.
What cells are you using?
Do you have a picture of the 72v installed? I'm wondering how much taller it is.
What is the approximate shipping to USA?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I lowered my SurRon (sort of a DIY X160) to make sure my son was big enough to ride it. The test was a success so I put another one on pre-order. Well, a local X160 turned up for sale this week and I bought it. It has the same brake and kick stand interlocks as my SurRon but they don't do anything. ...

Re: Nucular Electronics owner's thread (setup infos, FW updates, links etc.)

Ok, I admit defeat:( I have a 24F but can't figure out how to turn on a little regen when I'm off the throttle. I want a little bit of 'engine' braking like a gas bike so I can give my poor brakes some rest. I thought I read somewhere it could be done but I can't find it in a search now. I've fiddle...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Those w/ the BAC8000/Nucular 24F, how may peak phase amps will the motor take? I got my litespeed battery in this week and tested w/ my Nuc24F. It's set to 400A which is a blast but wondering if more peak is safe.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I probably had it sitting around. You can get it from places like McMaster or your local plastics distributor. Below is the link to McMaster. Notice they also carry 90deg angles. These can be glued onto the edges of sheets (on the inside or out) to help form strong boxes. https://www.mcmaster.com/po...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I've looked. I don't think anything exists. I've thought about putting some aluminum through the brake and then welding the two halves together to form the rectanglular tube but that is beyond most peoples equipment. Even if you could 3D print something, you want GOOD impact protection which I don't...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Wh (energy) is what provides range. You can't directly compare Ah of two different battery voltages. Your desired spec of 72A * 40Ah = 2.88kWh. W/ a 60V battery you will need 2.88kWh/60V=48Ah to get the exact same range.

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Not sure if it's what the storm bee uses but surron makes a SP180-C2 twin motor drive. Much too wide for a light bee frame though. https://evnerds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/SUR-RON-C2-SERIES.jpg https://evnerds.com/electric-vehicles/e-motorcycle-news/sur-ron-power-systems-for-diy-and-electric-m...

Will the light bee motor be ok with 24S battery?
The motor limit is a power (thermal) one. Increasing voltage yeilds higher max rpm. If the current is limited, the power can be the same.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

And were does the extra room needed come from? Flexing open the swing arm? There are a couple mm avail to move the chain over towards the swingarm. I fit a SR241 3.50x19 which is ~4.1" wide at the knobs. I know someone else who fit a Michelin Xlite 4.0x18 (but I haven't seen it yet.) I didn't ...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Uhh, Woody has been doing high end wheels for ages (prob longer than I've been alive.) His reputation is fantastic. I suspect the super thick spokes you're crapping on are real 8-10ga motorcycle spokes since he says he has to drill the hub. The nipples don't look like the hybrid ones I have from Wic...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Yes. Most all 20mm hubs have spacers to adapt to the forks. The ones for the front SurRon hub are sold separately via Luna. Guy might have used them for his SM wheels or they just got lost. They are only held in via o-rings. You need 2 of these: https://lunacycle.com/segway-sur-ron-x260-missing-axle...

Its about $1900 shipped for a bigger battery and matching charger. What sort of killer deal are you getting on a X160?!?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The pictures of the 2021 I can find have a top clamp that droops down at the tubes vs the older flat one I have. You want it to go up? Can you just flip it over? You want low stack height on top or bottom (or both?) The upgraded taper bearing adds nothing to the bottom as it fits inside the head tub...

I don't mean to argue either. I meant can't hurt for anyone to try. A bottle of Stans is cheap. It would be good to hear more feedback from users doing it I've ordered 17" supermoto wheels that I'm going to put dirt tires on and see if I can lower a SurRon enough for my kid to ride (sort of a D...
