Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Oh o! I tried to flash 1.13b but something went wrong with my cable mid flash, and now instead of a boot screen i get just blank screen when I turn the CA on. How do I go about recovering it? You can always always always just apply power to the CA after you have clicked the "update firmware" button...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Ok I have updated and things are much better. Couple of bugs to report (this is under high power calibration): 1. If I set 2A in the Fast Ramp Threshold, on the device it looks like its actually sets 20 Amps. This results in a very jumpy DD hub bike in PAS mode, not very safe :) (I fix it by settin...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

OK I see, I was under the false impression that if I saw the capital W that means the limit was hit. Well it is, in that the watts limit is the lower of your maximum watt setting, or the watts that is commanded by the PAS control system. The flags are there mostly to give insight into what is contr...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Adjusting wheel sizes to scale the motors to the same no load speeds Ah no, you can't do that for a fair comparison because you are then comparing the motors at different rpms and torques. The smaller wheel size almost always has the advantage since it needs to produce less torque for the same thru...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I am assuming what happens is that CA notices that power is dropping and because my PAS is set to power mode it ramps up the out throttle to full trying to get more power. When I release the break throttle the CA is outputting fully open throttle 4V so the bike jumps. Exactly. What you need to do i...

Justin 470 uf across ca input wire fixed it ! Like u said maybe low caps on controller was causing interference??? Glad to hear that was all that was going on. And I would definitely take this opportunity to open up your motor controller and see if the main bus capacitors might need replacement. If...

You seriously never cease to amaze me with your unyielding dedication to the craft Justin! 50% increase is significant! Thanks Grindz, I almost forgot to post the updated results! I've now run the experiment at up to 50mL, but the 50mL test had a problem in that with the additional thermal conducti...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Cool! My goal of running 1200W through this motor might be achievable after all :flame: At high speeds (50+ kph) it's actually pretty realistic to continuously do ~1200 watts of input power, ~1000 watts of output power, with the motor in the 20-22 Nm torque range. 1200 watts at lower speeds like 25...

Justin, let us know if you have any new information regarding oil cooling. I suuurrrre do. Was running tests all day saturday and sunday, adding 4mL at a time while running the motor from 50 to 350 rpm at 5-35kph wind speeds, and really not seeing much improvement at all. It was actually pretty dis...

3) Does question 1 actually answer question 2? (In other words, is the throttle connector just being used for the 5V supply to the PAS sensor? And if so: Exactly, except that this was meant more to plug into the Aux input instead of the throttle input. We figured more people these days are u...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

But does low volts cause CA to shut down and reboot ? It has a throttle plugged in and that does not cut out hence i thought its the cav3 ? Do bms cut out so quick ? Everything in the video sure points to and looks like your BMS circuit is tripping and then resetting. And yes BMS circuits do cut ou...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Perhaps i can use the low power calibration if this shunt can take 100amp for a few mins. It's 1mOhm. So at 100 amps you are putting 10 watts of heat in a small piece of metal about 1cm x 0.5cm. That will get hot, but being metal the shunt itself is not going to be damaged. I would suggest using he...

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Is there any specific reason why the default 100% charge profiles for a 48V lithium battery have the max voltage set at 54.5V instead of 54.6V? Wouldn't 54.6V be better for balancing the battery? Technically you're right that 4.20 * 13 = 54.6V, not 54.5V. But in practice that's all within the margi...

How'd she do with ferrofluid, Justino? Re: High speed geared hub motor noise.

FWIW, this is a case where one of the magnets has become unbonded from the rotor and at high RPM's the centripetal force throws it against the stator where it scrapes around, and not related to the gears. When the motor is spinning more slowly, the magnetic force holding it to the rotor is strong en...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Is it possible to put a temp sensor in this motor? There's an easy way to do this if you're willing to forego the internal speedometer sensor. Just open up the motor and remove the white wire from the speed sensor PCB, and instead wire it up to a grounded thermistor or other temperature sensor. Or ...

I did this a little while back with an older charger and a little plug in timer, but is there any way to get the satiator to do this? Not at the moment. But, if you wire up a 10K NTC thermistor between pins 2 and 3 of the XLR charge port on your battery (or at least such that a thermistor becomes a...

Really liking the charger with my only concern being how hot it gets. How hot is acceptable? IIRC Justin stated waaay back in this thread, that the internal components of the Satiator are specified to 100°C. Actually, the Satuatore 'cares' for it self. At full power, when the temperature will rise ...

Cooling Effect

Here's another thing that we can see and quantify from the log data, and that is the increased solar output we get on the panels from the cooling effect of passing air as we're riding. When you stop to take a break, you get some advantage that you can then perfectly orient the panels towards the sun...
