Re: newbie question: Julet connectors
Yes there are two versions of the Higo / Juliet connector. There is a standard Higo / Julet and then there is a Higo / Julet Mini connector which has been available for a short while now and it is just slightly smaller than the standard version. I’ve never personally compared the diameter of these c...

Re: E-Rider 68mm BB spider bolts bottoming out
You are correct. I have also noticed that the spiders that Ebikes.ca supply have changed recently. The result of this is that the spider is thinner where the bolts pass through and it needs to be used with shorter bolts. Ebikes.ca used to supply a spider that has CL47 printed on the back to designat...

I have repaired several faulty Bosch PowerPack 500 BMSs to working order. I am also interested in the Bosch BMS and the CAN protocol and I have spent many hours on google translate! Tomblarom - Did you make your test rig to study the CAN protocol? Do you mind me asking what your intentions are? Swam...

Re: Dual Battery Module
In theory, you would experience a minor voltage drop (0.7V), but in practice, I don't think anyone would notice any performance difference, relative to the benefits of using two batteries. The loss of voltage is less of an issue, the thing to consider is that this voltage drop is converted into hea...

Re: What is the shortest spoke you ever laced or seen in person?
I’ve gone as short at 60mm in radial lacing using Sapim polyax nipples and I was lucky and didn’t have to modify the rim. It was a tremendous PITA to build because as soon as I had more than half the spokes in, even with them only tightened one or two turns, there was such little play in the wheel t...

Meanwhile, if anyone around Cambridge area has one of these new 75100s and is willing to let me probe it with a scope... On the basis of "I break it I'll buy you a new one" it would be pretty interesting to get some double pulses tests, current shunt tests etc done. I might be able to hel...

P.S, as you said, usually everything is rated below what it can actually take I didn't say that! I said that manufacturers of ESCs designed for high voltages will [should!?] have chosen components that are rated far in excess of the maximum voltages they are likely to see in normal use to ens...

Re: Flipsky with 24S?
So I'm left with two questions here: 1. Will changing caps to a higher voltager 150V/200V? be enough to solve the issue? Ultimately, without knowing all the ratings of all the other components on the board, the only way to find this out would be to try it and see what happens. If it has survived >1...

Re: Flipsky with 24S?
The flipsky 75100 although called '75' is actually rated for 20S. Yes, it’s design is based on a controller called the VESC 100/250 which is rated for a maximum supply voltage of 22S / 92.4V. I have left the controller on for hours on purpose fully charged in order to make sure it doesn't fail and ...

Re: Flipsky with 24S?
I presume you mean 24S Li-Ion 100.8V, and not 24S Li-Fe 87.6V? The original VESC 100/250, which is what the 75100 is based on, is specified up to 22S and it uses 200V rated caps, so I think you are quite fortunate that your 75100 with it's 100V caps is working at all at 24S! At steady state before y...

Re: Does my brand new hub motor (Aikema AKM-128CST) have a bent axle? (4K video)
Looking at the picture of the side cover in the vise, I wonder if I can use a small shim to put some pressure just in the right spot to bend the center of the cover to make it perpendicular. The motor shells and side covers are made from die cast aluminium which is very un-malleable and does...

Re: Help UPP 48V 20amp Battery
Hi, The board you have pictured is only there to power the USB port on the side of the battery. It's job is to work as a voltage step-down converter which converts the 48V main battery voltage down to 5V for the USB phone charging port. The battery should function perfectly well with this board disc...

Re: What can a Grin controller + cycle analyst do that KT controllers + KT display can't do?
So I'm not sure if they mean the label on the outside case, or on the PCB. They mean the label on the case. The boards are all the same, but the firmware is different for different versions of the controller that expect to recieve different inputs, including input on pad X4. For example, there used...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release
Hi, In the photo, if the plugs pictured are attached to the CA3, then the 2-pin JST is a duplicate temperature sensor plug You can confirm this by checking continuity with a multimeter to other temperature sensor plug which is part of the same cable as the throttle/ebrake/aux connectors near the CA3...

Re: What can a Grin controller + cycle analyst do that KT controllers + KT display can't do?
It is on the white wire that in theory temperature gets "multiplexed", if the motor has an internal temperature sensor tied in with the speed hall sensor. I believe that my friend, is wishful thinking. If you show me a KT display successfully displaying a motor temp. THEN I'll believe you...

Re: What can a Grin controller + cycle analyst do that KT controllers + KT display can't do?
Thanks--that is useful info. Tells us at least how that specific version of signal muxing works. I suspect they are using the thermistor itself as the pullup resistor for the speedo hall signal, inside the motor (but without seeing the hardware inside the motor, dunno for sure). Hi, The NTC fitted ...

Re: Does my brand new hub motor (Aikema AKM-128CST) have a bent axle? (4K video)
Sorry, I realised I made a typo above, I was *not* able to remove my freehub carrier, so I was unable to tell for certain whether it was threaded in, or pressed in. Well done on making the tool try and unscrew it! I agree, there's really no reason it should be so tight. I tried to undo one with a pi...

Re: Does my brand new hub motor (Aikema AKM-128CST) have a bent axle? (4K video)
I am glad you have been able to confirm the problem as we suspected is a poorly fitting freehub carrier. Judging by the dial-test indicator that you have, I suspect that you might possibly have access to some kind of machine-shop. If you have access to a lathe, and you can unscrew the freehub (I was...

Re: Does my brand new hub motor have a bent axle? (4K video)
Do you know if the circuit components are easy to access after taking off the cover. Yes, they are all on the same PCB which is screwed to the outside of the motor core. Note these observations are for the AKM-100 motor which I have to hand. The AKM-128 may use different size components, screw size...
