Why run a water cooling jacket if you can just use the environment water. Seal the front and back properly and make sure the moving water is guided over the cooling ribs of the motor. its really a 'dificult' decision. as the answer is different depending on what you want to do, and your overall goal. as for a DFM perspective, 4 layer would be a no-brainer for this project. but as you say this is more a DIY (or semi DIY) project. so you don't need to pay for hand labor for beefing...

depends how you look at it. i see a 1,5 dollar raise on a product of 50-100 dollar. that is only 1.5-3% so you add 3% to the cost. but you add value in lower overshoot and more copper for the high power traces. if you can get away without beefing up the traces manually this will save a lot of labor ...

Is this a 2 layer or 4 layer board? If 2 layer, I would seriously consider switching to 4 layer and remove those TH gate resistors. That's really not the place to use leaded (inductive) parts.
Switching from 2 to 4 layer will only add 5-10% cost on the PCB in volume production IIRC.

You don't have to use the standard pin headers. You can use whatever connector you want with 0.1" pitch. You also can just solder wire directly in the connector thru-holes for a reliable connection. while i agree with you partially, and we should not publicly share the keys, i see no reason not to 'unlock' the LCD's by releasing some software that would replace the bafang booloader with our own. this way the warranty is void and we wouldn't cause problems for the manufacturer.

IRFP4468 is not expensive from lcsc. The IRF100P219XKMA1 seems to be a good alternative with about half the gate charge. One more thing I forgot about, when choosing capacitor type is failure modes. Mlcc's are more likely to fail as an short circuit opposed to film capacitors fail as open contact.

X7R does not have a stable capacity under changing voltage. So your filter frequency will change. Not what you want. You could use NP0/C0G. This is a stable material, meant for timing related circuits. But I'm not sure if you can find the value you need at the voltage you need.

Awesome results man!!! I would be really I interested to see if a polymer or ceremic cap with a similar value to the 4.7uf (or maybe even a bit lower) would yield similar or better results.
