Re: Turn My Transformer Spot Welder to DC using Kweld?
afaik the kweld has an 'automatic' mode. it senses for a connection between the weld probes and fires a pulse when contact is made.

just make sure you buy the motor in Europe. nothing can be sold without CE in Europe. if the goods come from china, the importer/reseller is responsible for CE.

Re: 1.7kg 1000w mid drive
Looks intriguing but who knows how refined the torque sensing will be. Seems like there is a wide variation among "torque sensing" drives. Hi Tom, the torque sensor is very refined. Comparing to a bottom bracket torque sensor is a different world. I'm not saying that because we're selling...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)
is it possible to disconnect the pcb track (cut the trace) close to the gate driver and close to the mosfet (ie not traveling on an inner layer). do you also have a solid ground point at the gate driver. if this is the case, i think you will still be able to test these pcb's if you use a twisted pai...

how do you access the TO-220 screws once they are soldered to the PCB? i don't see any holes in the PCB for that or will it not be possible to remove the FETs from the heat sink once assembled? Of course I won't be able to out China China. You can totally out China, China. Just take someones money, ...

same result here. too simple algorithm used with the motor control bench. fine for pumps, fans. not so good for traction applications.

Thanks for releasing this, very interesting read.

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)
if you look at the wiring diagrams for the nucular controller you see he uses the motor winding's. if things overheat he suggests an external inductor in series. i would at least add some input capacitors, but i don't see them in the nucular schematics. theoretically you can use the output caps of t...

depending on the inductance and max phase current possible you *could* use the motor winding's. there are several parameters that need to be considered: pack voltage (given) charge current PSU voltage Inductor value max switch frequency max inductor current (inductor saturation current?) i did some ...

the adaptto controller can function as a boost converter (input voltage lower than min pack voltage) i cant find any documentation on this, but its pretty straight forward. the way they it works: disconnect a phase leads so you have access to the H-bridge battery stays connected in the same way as i...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)
Cool. Really what I'm looking for is field testing in application. The firmware won't need that much modification over the original VESC firmware to be compatible with my hardware. It's just minor tweaks to be compatible with the particular DRV I'm using. Anything else you want to do to the firmwar...

i think he would like to know you you are going to connect the two pcb? the brain and power pcb. atleast that is what i would like to know. Re: 1 number divisible by group of numbers [Excel?]
what you could to next to the sheet you have is the following formula. =number-TRUNC(number) this will give you the decimal part for the cell. next do the formulla =IF(number<=0.01,"OK",IF(number>=0.99,"OK"," ")) in this case, 'number' will be the one of the cells from ...

Re: Low KV 1000W BLDC
Why run a water cooling jacket if you can just use the environment water. Seal the front and back properly and make sure the moving water is guided over the cooling ribs of the motor. With an inrunner motor you will get pretty impressive cooling I think. As the water is in almost direct contact with...

you might be able to get away with a lower power servo motor. and then use it a 1000W.
that is, if you can directly cool the motor with water

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)
its really a 'dificult' decision. as the answer is different depending on what you want to do, and your overall goal. as for a DFM perspective, 4 layer would be a no-brainer for this project. but as you say this is more a DIY (or semi DIY) project. so you don't need to pay for hand labor for beefing...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)
depends how you look at it. i see a 1,5 dollar raise on a product of 50-100 dollar. that is only 1.5-3% so you add 3% to the cost. but you add value in lower overshoot and more copper for the high power traces. if you can get away without beefing up the traces manually this will save a lot of labor ...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)
Is this a 2 layer or 4 layer board? If 2 layer, I would seriously consider switching to 4 layer and remove those TH gate resistors. That's really not the place to use leaded (inductive) parts.
Switching from 2 to 4 layer will only add 5-10% cost on the PCB in volume production IIRC.

You don't have to use the standard pin headers. You can use whatever connector you want with 0.1" pitch. You also can just solder wire directly in the connector thru-holes for a reliable connection. Yes I have considered other connectors but for my newer controller design. Which ones? From wha...

Re: Cheap FOCer (VESC 4.12 based design)
TEK0000.JPG Switch Node @Vsupply = 54V Ok so I fired up the beta version in the lab. @54V there was only a spike of 55.6V at no-load. This is much better than the prototype and is most likely due to the improved layout. The owner of the dyno I was using before is currently using it for his own test...

Just fyi; prio level 0 and 2 are for the softdevice, 1 and three are for application. At work we do not use different irq prio levels, because this this gets complicated rather quickly! Especially with large projects. Better to keep the same level, this way you know the irq functions won't be interr...
