Re: Daisy chain active balancer

Would be an advantage if it was such (stand alone) that it was adjustable for either bottom balancing, middle balancing, top balancing and/or additional option adjustment for even when the battery is at rest (after bottom discharge or after top charge) . Owner has option which function to use and fo...

How long did you plan to store at 3.286v? What is self-discharge voltage after two weeks?

Re: Parallel balancing 20S12P battery

So long as you do one 4S "segment" at a time only, NP But connecting multiple segments to each other while they remain connected in serial, no of course not, would be creating dead shorts boom bad Thank u for clearing this up for me. I will wire the pack into 4s balance lead (5 in total) ...

Re: 80%, 90% charging?

If your Charger is adjusted to 4.1V/cell how often and how long do you leave the charger plugged in after the green light comes on so your BMS can correct any imbalance or isn’t that practice ever necessary?

Re: Split ebike battery

I've ordered an enclosure from a seller on aliexpress at a custom size, decided to go with 14s5p in the end with Samsung 35e cells. I'll order the cells once i've got all the other stuff in, still need to look for a BMS if anyone has any suggestions on what would be good I'm still tempted to just o...

Re: Bms over current reset

If it were properly protected by the BMS OCP then your cell-level fuses should not have triggered, right? One more thing, my total battery drain is less than 40amp. So I think it (45A BMS) safe. What do you think about my setup? There are good BMSs and not so good BMSs. Next time get a 60A BMS just...

Re: Recommended Cell Supplier from China?

A good BMS means one with fast balance like an active BMS My post about BMS (A/B) was as much tongue-in-cheek as fact. You bring up something that seems to be a mystery to many of us. How does one know if a BMS has fast balance or slow balance? Would you explain what you mean by "active BMS&qu...

Re: Recommended Cell Supplier from China?

Thanks for informations. This manner definitelly does not look good. :? What is also disconcerting is that IMR (Houston, TX) no longer carries LG Chem. Closed out all of their existing LG inventory several months ago. Possibly something to do with the Trump's trade war with China. NKON has new term...

Re: 18650 supplier rant

Could it be that Israel prohibits import due to possible hazard restrictions (e-cig use and vaping)? Have you called NKON to find out why they won't ship Lilo's to Israel or is it that it's just to expensive for the average consumer? There certainly must be thousands of e-bikes in Israel with 18650 ...

This enclosure could work at 280~300mm length if they are willing to sell me one. I'm not sure how much extra height id need 69.6mm might be cutting it close if it works at all. If there's anything with a bit more height then this one, i'm pretty sure it would fit, can use the bottle holder bolts w...

Re: Split ebike battery

There is no advantage to splitting from 10S down to 5S, just for the purpose of balancing. Yes and No! No, if pack is abused, old or you don't have the time (which is true for most ebikers). BMS's for the most part don't balance. Not because they can't top balance, but because it can take hours for...

Re: Split ebike battery

There's a metric ton of info on the internet about wiring triangle packs. T-packs can take up more room than at first envisioned which would be true with my 12S6P layout design. You may want to stick with a 12S5P triangle design to make sure you have enough room for everything in whatever waterproof...

Re: Split ebike battery

I don't have an app - just copied layout from a book, , Canon G10, tripod, kitchen table and photoshop and lots of figuring. It took me quite awhile before I finally settled on the attached cell arrangement. You can make a jig to hold ten of the 6P cells for spot-welding 10 of the 6P connections. Th...

Re: Split ebike battery

40amp controller is about the safe limit. Just to set the record straight i wasn't recommending a 40amp controller for his 48V 750W BBS0B2. My point was that early on LC was looking at a 100amp BMS. Even with a 40amp Controller he wouldn't need more than a 60amp BMS (JMO). These bafang motors have ...

Re: Split ebike battery

So do you basically have 5 speed settings to punch for speed/power as your throttle control? So in 4th with a 12S7P with 80amp controller and the Bfun BBS02 could LC go at least 12km/h (15.5mph) in 4th (and even faster in 5th) ? 5 Levels of peddle assist, it should just cut off peddle assist above ...

I've got a DCP-18 display it allows you to set a speed limit, I'm not planning to add a throttle to the bike now or anytime in the future. Re: Split ebike battery

Being that your primary need is capacity (Ah) for ground covered (km) and cycle life longevity consider 35E (8A). Besides NKON still has inventory of the older 30Q 136 cell with reports of sporadic high self-discharge. Wouldn't consider 30Q until NKON gets the newer 30Q 141 cell. Instead of a 15-20A...
