Re: BBS02 Improving Heat Dissipation

I've heard some weird stories about the nylon gear melting on the BBS02. According to this thread https://electricbike.com/forum/forum/main-forum/diy-discussion/6734-karl-was-right the nylon gear gets so weak that it breaks at 60C, that seems really low to me... Seems like the same guy also limited ...

Re: EEB with BBSHD advice

I don't know what controller you got, but the answer is probably no based on how it was when I installed a BAC855 controller on my BBSHD. I setup a bunch of things like hall order and angle, motor resistance and inductance, that it's geared and bottom bracket. Either you could simply use the one in ...

Re: Eggrider V2 Display

I got an Eggrider V2 on my BBSHD that's driven by an ASI BAC855 controller. The good: -The OLED display is great! -Doesn't take a lot of space. -It feels really durable and water proof. The bad: - They stopped pushing updates. I can think of multiple features and changes that would be great to have...

BBSHD ASI BAC855 programming thread

This thread is about programming ASI BAC855 controllers that are paired with a BBSHD motor. Easiest way to program: Use a regular bafang BBSHD HIGO display to USB(TTL) adapter and the BACDoor software. When changing parameters I always press the write button, then I press (Menu->Parameter->Save to f...

Re: Grease for Bafang BBS01 available in Australia

I would just grab some lithium grease from a local hardware or auto parts store. I considered ordering Mobil 28 but then I realized my BBS02 is not a turbine powered helicopter. This is what I used...5 bucks/tube at the local wally world. https://lucasoil.com/products/grease/red-n-tacky-grease Cert...

Re: Grease for Bafang BBS01 available in Australia

I use Aeroshell Grease 22 for my BBSHD. I don't know if its any cheaper than the other high end stuff, but that tube will last you a long time! I've used it for all kinds of stuff but it's literally made for applications like these. Found some au shop that sells it. There might be cheaper sources ou...

Re: ASI Bac855 programming via bacdoor

Thanks for the replys, i will get into the software again tonight and have a poke around armed with that information! Next question, i keep seeing ‘race mode’ mentioned but as i have had no instructions etc whatsoever with regard to actually using the whole system i have no idea how to access it? O...

Re: ASI Bac855 programming via bacdoor

There's this android app called CYC MOTOR (BAC) that might help. I haven't tried it myself yet since I already got the controller going using the official ASI app, which I sadly haven't got access to at the moment. We got the same setup so don't hesitate to reply with any questions you may have, I'l...

Re: Bafang BBSHD "DIY" Speed sensor experimentation

Wow, this post is now over a year old. I'm back to change this thread into something that could help people. I got a new BBSHD speed sensor and the plastic snapped again! I decided to take it apart and see what makes it tick and if I can design something that isn't mounted with a plastic stick. The ...

Re: Bafang BBSHD How I repaired my controller and how you might do it!

I guess my battery can't supply more than 30-35A. If the battery was the actual limiting factor, it would be shutting off due to overcurrent when you reach that, either as a direct overcurrent protection, or as low-voltage-cutoff from excessive sag during those current levels. If that's not happeni...

Re: Bafang BBSHD How I repaired my controller and how you might do it!

You might want to try a regular wattmeter between the battery and controller. Or a clamp-on ammeter on the battery output wires. Then you will be able to see if the current is really still increasing, and the display/controller simply can't provide a reading above the limit you're seeing. Sadly I h...

Re: Bafang BBSHD How I repaired my controller and how you might do it!

How are you measuring the current? If you are looking at the display, it will still be 30A even after the shunt mod, but the actual current will be higher. The current measurement on the display is based on the shunt. I measure current on my Eggrider, Im aware that there's a certain multiplier I ha...

I did this mod and kindof broke my controller, you can read about how I fixed it here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=105837&p=1548984#p1548984 Anyway! I now got two 2mOhm shunts, crazy small I know! But my motor still won't go over what would be about 30 amps. Anyone ...

Bafang BBSHD How I repaired my controller and how you might do it!

Hey guys, this is some kind of advanced troubleshooting guide for the BBSHD controller. :bolt: There's a capacitor that's connected in parallel to the + and - terminals. After the controller has been disconnected from the battery do the following: 1. Turn on your display. 2. Measure the voltage betw...

DIY Speed sensor | Bafang BBSHD sensor reverse engineering

This is a complete repurposing of this thread. Short story, I've broken 8FUN speed sensors in the past and finding information on how this speed sensor works was impossible. This thread aims to provide schematics, simple measurements, sample 3D designs and a place where people can talk about 8FUN an...
