Yes, I heard that about the front fork three years ago and changed it around.

Thanks folks for all the advice on battery.

Currie Ezip SLA Battery life

I cannot tell if my original Currie Ezip battery is now dying earlier because of cold weather here in Dallas this week or if maybe now it is finally time to replace it. I've had the bike three years and I guess I've probably recharged it now beyond its life. Any suggestions? I did buy a second back ...

Re: Being interviewed for local TV...help!!!!

Here's a good source for driving costs - breaks down ownership, insurance, maintenance, gas, etc for cars: And since it was done by AAA I would hazard to guess that it's a reliable an relatively accurate study. http://www.aaaexchange.com/Assets/Files/20073261133460.YourDrivingCosts2007.pdf . Re: Being interviewed for local TV...help!!!!

Again, I wouldn't confuse the viewers with facts, but with nuggets that hit home: "I like the 1600mpg, but I love the freedom" "I still drive a car sometimes: but it's really boring to be locked in a box... a bike gives you more options" "I prefer working to support my family, not big oil companies...

Re: Being interviewed for local TV...help!!!!

1600 MPG makes for a great sound bite. If you have the time you could figure out some numbers based on total costs. Car = payments, insurance, maintenance, plus fuel. E-bike = parts, maintenance and electricity. And you can't put a price on "the grin". :D Yeah...these mainstream media Baribizon Bar...

Thanks DCM! You think it's safe to go with 1600 MPG???? Sounds about right to me from reading his post.

Being interviewed for local TV...help!!!!

I am being interviewed shortly in Dallas about Ebikes and our mass transit, etc. Has anyone really seriously figured out what we get on these things MPG? I was trained in classical music, not math and physics. I have heard it's absurdly high like 1800 MPG. Would love to say that but it sounds very e...

Re: Shockdyno's solar E-Zip trailer

Wow...I want one! This is quite wonderful. Your fifty dollar panels make me really want to pursue the idea of a solar charge station awning at school. A science project for the middle schoolers. I really need a "battery info for dummies" book. I still don't understand how much solar power I need to ...

Contacted the sellers today. Also sent this to my auto insurance guy and he said forget it...they won't insure it, and you cannot get it tagged, at least here in TX. Pity...it's a for real Ecar right now.

Re: Toyota's new electric powered people mover

This has to be the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. This is the best the minds at Toyota can come up with? 3.7MPH and a 3 mile range. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080801/ap_on_hi_te/japan_toyota_robot_2 I don't think Segway has anything to worry about. That thing is so pathetic, it's almost a ...

Re: Saw my first Smart Car Today!

Yeah...because of shit drivers, our cars are all required now to have extra crap in them to save our lives. Maybe if there were more cops on the highways pulling over these idiots who are texting and applying mascara while doing 80 mph, maybe we would not need the crap they add. In ten years in Dal...

At a party last night, in Dallas, I heard someone say that "whew gas is dropping again...I think I will get that Escalade afterall." A mere twenty five cent drop down from 4 dollars had this asshole thinking already about a big new car. Until gasoline hits 25 bucks a gallon, American drivers will co...

cI too am a motorcyclist and am thinking of making the switch. I rode for part of the summer here and didn't quite enjoy stepping into work all hot and sweaty and having that same feeling back home. I have some hills to climb too, but only a relatively shallow one at 5% for about 1.5 km. due to the...

Re: Saw my first Smart Car Today!

I did some checking today because I was curious. Seems like real world gas mileage for the US version smart car is about 36 MPG. The car LOOKS like it should get 50MPG though. My 1984 Honda CRX got that kind of mileage. What gets me, is some of the cars from the early 1990's, like the Geo metro, an...

Even if nuclear were totally safe, it is yet another finite energy source. We are running out of uranium, too. As far as wind power killing birds, is it really a lot of birds? I mean is a species extinct or even reduced because of wind farms???? We either give up all energy sources and use horses or...

It would be far better if we just lived in mud huts and did not commute at all. You know, just be happy where we are. Or.....even better maybe the earth would be better off if we all died. We are nearly there. We are not ready to face the end of oil. And there are predictions of major world chaos w...

Sorry but the fat, lazy American will not change his habit until gasoline hits $20 a gallon. Watch Exxon-Chevron-Shell get us leveled nicely at $5 per gallon for a coupla years and watch us go right out and buy Hummers again. Fantasy? I lived through this in 1973. Oh sure we all had Chevettes and li...

If you allready have a bike, I think $150 more for a WE hubmotor kit is money well spent. But for those with really short rides, but maybe with a nasty hill, like dallasfoto, the zip bikes are perfect. They certainly are a bargain. Maybe the one I saw was poorly assembled and make noise it shouldn'...
