Again, a pull suspension makes a ton of sense if you want to use rubber bands as suspension element.
Cheap, easy, somewhat tuneable, actually works fine - you only need some topout bumper.
Otherwise, why reinvent the wheel?

Re: Simple, open source middrive anyone can build
Hi Balor, I think we’re heading in slightly different directions, but I see what you mean. It’s great to see someone else using RC kit. I’m most interested by your comment about it having no torque from a standstill. What ESC are you using and is the motor sensored? I do plan to use a production Ne...

Re: reversed suspension, pull suspension, is it a thing?
The shock is called 'snipped motorcycle inner tube' :) There are quite a few DIY projects featuring those. No sticktion, some damping, nice progression, infinitely fine-tuneable by varying 'preload' and number of 'rings'. You do need some sort of stop in suspension to keep the o-rings from falling o...

Re: Simple, open source middrive anyone can build
I already did that, sort of. I think using a custom laser cut 100+ T 6.25mm pitch chain cog (will NOT cost much) on with 12T or whereabouts (10T is a bit noisy) will likely work for a single step reduction for a middrive that is regen brake capable, coupled with 6384 120kv motor. A HDT5 belt drive w...

Re: What does overvolting mean?
Since '20amp' controller (when it comes to battery amps) will usually push more phase current though the motor with a higher voltage battery, 'overvolting' is also 'overcurrenting' the motor, unless your controller allows to control phase currents as well. You get higher torque and higher top speed ...

Re: Secondary friction motor for increased voltage
Just like other people said, a friction drive with low turn count CAN allow you to reach higher speeds from same battery, provided it is powerful enough to overcome air resistance it that speed, and your battery can provide it. Otherwise, indeed, this is just a perpetual motion machine you are tryin...

"You need to furiously pedal for 30min in order to drive the electric motor for 3min" Could you post data to support that, please. It doesn't seem to align with the statement made about the 200 watts out can be had with 250 watts input. Not trying to be confrontational, just would like to...

Re: Thai drag bike tires.
Well, in F1 racing if they could have got away with bicycle width tires they would have done that, right? No aero nightmare to manage... well, obviously they did not. Things, of course, are more complex than that: F1 tires are literally 'flypaper full of glue', have rolling resistance of a piece of ...

Re: eMTB with Custom Build Drive Kit
Nice build; nice to see a DIY mid drive setup. Why did you go with a single speed setup? I plan to use the bike on flat, off-road terrain. The thinking behind using a single speed was that I would have a lot of power to my disposal to accelerate to 20/25kmh and can then pedal with constant high cad...

Re: eMTB with Custom Build Drive Kit
Nice build; nice to see a DIY mid drive setup. Why did you go with a single speed setup? I use a similar sized motor at about 2,500 watts and drive directly to the rear wheel with a separate #219 chain (more like the China gas bikes at 50cc) and you just don't need gears except for when you hit a h...

My point is you don't need to understand these things to buy them, you don't need much knowledge to assemble them, and you don't need anything at all to have an opinion. But you have to understand what you're doing at least relatively well if you are to build a unique thing from scratch and get it ...

The fact remains that any fool (besides yourself) can tell you that a linkage steered bike doesn't steer as well as a direct steered bike. But maybe if we all just give it more time.... Well, I have to agree that it does not HAVE to be that way. Making something linkage-steered is harder than direc...

Re: Want suggestions for cargobike with large mid-mount motor
Well... I've ridden linkage steered bikes from Bullitt, Cetma, Human Powered Machines, Virtue, Bilenky, and a couple made by friends of mine here in Austin. They were all fine, and they all had hinky steering that felt better going slow. I've built some linkage steered trikes, too, that (unlike bik...

Flux weakening is good on IPM motors where a considerable portion of the power is made using reluctance torque anyway. https://www.automate.org/industry-insights/interior-permanent-magnet-motors-power-traction-motor-applications So, SOME motors paired with SOME controllers (middrives, basically) are...

Re: Motors - state of the community
I am doing an electric conversion on a 1980 Yamaha SR250. My wish is to be able to cruise at 140 kph. Emptying your battery pack in a few minutes isn't "cruising". My back of the envelope estimate suggests you'll need about 30 kW at the wheel to hold 87 mph. At very high speed, and lackin...

I'd say a nice grocery getter in foul weather, especially with some sort of roof.

To be fair you do is simpler, ehehe.
What kind of VESC is that anyway? What is 'HI200'?
