do you have a pic of the other side? is it set up for a freewheel/cassette (rear), or nothing (front hub)? looks like it's intended to use rim brakes.
its a front hub

Can anyone help identify what hub motor this is?

Picked up a couple motors and have no idea what brand or model they are. Can anyone help identify or point me towards a spec sheet?

I think you might have inspired me to paint the rims on my bike....although unlacing and re-lacing sounds like a pain  Cool project man!
Honestly I was dreading lacing the bike but it wasnt so bad. A couple youtube vids on how to lace properly will help you prep!

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I have a 13s 60A JBD BMS. Cells were fully charged and balanced before and after the the battery pack was made. I left it overnight and noticed that Cell 1 (next to battery pack negative) kept discharging down to 3.2. Pack is made of x11 cells per parallel group. When I charge it cell 1 doesn't seem...

Sorry, my mistake. Thought the add-on was aluminum welded to the frame.
Aluminum would have been my preference too given the weight savings but unfortunately no access to a TIG to get it welded up. The steel pipe i am using now is 20mm OD x 16mm ID, so the frame is pretty hefty currently.

Great project. Frame is aluminum; are you going to heat treat after welding?
The new sections of the frame is made from mild steel. I'm not aware if mild steel can be tempered?
I wish I had a TIG welder so I could make the frame from aluminium

DIY Super73 inspired ebike!

This is my second venture into EV and wanted to document the process as I go along. This build thread is going to be chaotic as I'm working on different parts of the build at different times as I wait on parts to be shipped. Inspiration The style of the Super73 bike frame caught my eye. I liked the ...

Re: DIY Onyx style build advice

Thanks appreciate the feedback.
To get started I was thinking about the voilamart 1500w kit and slowly upgrading over time.

Would you recommend any other hub motors below the £200 mark?

DIY Onyx style build advice

Hi all, Ebike newb here, but with experience in electric skateboards. I am looking to build a DIY Onyx style moped like the image below to carry two people (roughly max 170kg combined) and will be used for a runaround rather than anything major. https://electrek.co/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2019/02...
