Re: Grin Phase Runner / CA3 and BBSHD

Unless you have done some extensive redesign of your bbshd and your driveline there is no way to use regen on a bbshd mid-drive setup, unfortunately.

Re: Parts bin build.... kind of

Thanks guys! I think I will have to make something like the cable protection on the right side axle as well, as they will be perfect for footpegs when I get the cargo rack mounted. I bike was left outside for a few years before left in the shed, so most of the bearings and cables were not reusable. ...

Re: Polaris 6x6 diesel(!) conversion build log

So this thing is almost complete! The 428 chain and replacing all bearings in the gearbox made a huge difference on the noise level. Mppt regulator works great to charge the 12v batteries for the winch. It can tow anything that it has traction for in low gear, and climbs like a goat in the terrain. ...

Re: Parts bin build.... kind of

Did a quick test run with the battery in a back-pack, and I really enjoy the quiet feeling a dd hub gives. The regen was surprisingly stong, almost able to lock up the rear wheel on gravel.

Need to print a case for the battery, and tons of other bits and pieces....

Re: Parts bin build.... kind of

Even though its not much energy to save on regen on an ebike, I like the idea of not just wasting it on burning through brake pads. I have some quite steep hills around here, so figured I would like to use it. I want this bike to be as reliable as possible, so figured I should use some clamping torq...

Re: Parts bin build.... kind of

I want this to be a reliable build, so I need to have a temp sensor so I dont cook the windings. I saw the motor had the standard 9 pin plug (z910 at grin) with really tiny cables, so figured I could upgrade it while I was at it. So I irdered a L10 harness for the phaserunner, and a motor cable. Cou...

After having built a couple of ebikes that I use mostly for exercise, I think I have got a bit of the ebine bug.... First experience with ebikes was not very successful for my likings, but I have this battery that I assembled for that build laying around long enough that I figured I had to do someth...

Oh, well. That sucked a bit, but thanks a lot for the answers! I will trim the holes like Chalo suggested. On the bright side I will have twice the experience in wheel building when I am finished. 😁 I dont think I have the patience to do it before I go for a test-ride, though.... Too curious on how ...

Re: All Mountain trail Bike build and advice.

Great thread! The reason why I never went with a Bafang is the lack of torque sensor. I had another cadence based system as my first ebike, but I just didnt get used to it in the technical bits if the trail. I guess its a personal thing what you get used to. If I didnt find my own solution I would p...

Whats wrong? Wheel build n00b

Hi, guys. I had a MXUS xf40 30h motor with a 28" chinese wheel, and figured I would put it to use an try to learn how to build up a wheel on the way. So I ordered a 24" crystalyte rim and some spokes. I have attached the calculator screenshot and a picture of the wheel. I used 135mm 13/14 ...

Re: Oil cooling a motor with transformer oil/dielectric fluid - the next frontier?

Temperature differential is key. Yes, exactly. Put your hand on a geared hub motor without ATF, and 80C in the windings, then do the same with ATF. With the ATF, the case gets hot, letting the motor dump some heat to the surroundings. You should read the thread where Justin tests oil in a dual redu...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Its like 5 different people experiencing the same here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=98361 . It is all extended axles, so I think the problem is worse on those, but the design is still pretty much the same on the 68mm version. Enduro bikes usually have wider BB than the old 68m...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I'm all up for criticism in its place, but this motor in my view is being unfairly rated at times by posters who are using it in ways it was never intended by the designers and then dissing it because their one example broke for example the crank. Its like 5 different people experiencing the same h...

Hi. The TSDZ2 with torque sensor looks OK. But... What can I expect if I mount it on enduro MTB ? Will it take the hill climbing? I am down to put some effort into the climb. I am just looking for some assistance. Thank you for your feedback. If you are doing enduro on your enduro bike, its not the...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Standard wind on 36v will do about 29kmh in a 20" and about 33kmh in a 24" according to the Grin motor simulator, so no need for the fast wind. A baserunner, cycle analyst and a bottom bracket torque sensor would give you what you want (you can use whatever controller you want with the cyc...

Re: My attempt at lightweight, torque based EMTB

So, not too impressed with the Bafang G370 motor right now. Nylon gears gave up after a few trips. I did have some violent juddering before I got to tune it out, but still.... Running at 35A phase amps, which should translate into 43NM according to phase suite., which is less than what the Aikema mo...

Re: Oil cooling a motor with transformer oil/dielectric fluid - the next frontier?

If I can get tune the printed nylon gears for my g370 to work decently, I would have no problem with testing this. Getting any kind of transformer in my country in a smaller amount than 200 liter is difficult, though. Is there anywhere I can buy this in small amount online?

Could it use the same gears as G310/311? Those seem to be the same 18-33 gears for both motors and available at least on Aliexpress. Thanks! Found the shop on aliexpress. They had measurements for the gears, and turns out tve G310 and G311 uses very different gears. I will have to open up and measu...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

OR.. maybe bathing the gears in that oil actually improves efficiency. Have you ever seen how thin a coating a geared motor has after lots of miles, and most of the lithium grease has been flung off to the sides? Perhaps we're being pessimistic! When I filled the Aikema motor with ATF I noticed the...

Re: Titanium Fatbike - Bafang Ultra and Phaserunner

Nice build! You should try out the electronic freewheel feature in the paserunner suite. It keeps the motor engaged all the time and the responce and smoothness is awesome. Its sort of what you did with the throttle, but it is not active when the motor is stalled. Also much more adjustable (you shou...
