Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

Can you remove the restriction on 8a max charge current so you can simulate two chargers in parallel?

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

@liveforphysics, that was my initial thought too, but I believe the field weakening kicks in at a lower speed than what the top speed would be without it. So that means unless you can change the settings that even if you limit to the same top speed using CA, you would be running at a lower efficienc...

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

Yes it certainly would be nice to enable and disable this feature on the fly. Then you get top efficiency during normal operation and higher top speed when you want it. Two profiles in controller....or...hmmm

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

I have been testing on a crystalyte 405 in a 20" wheel that is running my velomobile. 48v, 30ag three ezee batteries in parallel so I can do close to 15a regen. Haven't had a chance to test it on the eZee or outrider yet.

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

What happens if you increase the field weakening value beyond that 17%, say 30% or whatever? Even faster top speed? Lower efficiency only at those top speeds or across the rest of the range? What are the advantages and downsides of doing that?

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited r

The FOC controller definitely gets noticeably less hot during a normal commute that the Infineon did, especially regen seemed to heat the Infineon up a lot but doesn't seem to as much on the Foc.

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

Tried the Mac version of the profile editor, works great, thanks!

I also tried the Mac version of the firmware updater. Program runs, but then when I tried to load the firmware file (with .hex extension), the file is greyed out and I can't select it. Any ideas, maybe I am missing something obvious.

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

No worries, The only reason I know about that mistake because I made it myself, was wondering why the display was already bubbling up for a few days before I found the plastic protective cover, haha.

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

I agree it would be nice to have compatible chargers everywhere and not have to carry one, but I just don't see it as a feasible reality anytime in the next ten years. Also, I would not want to rely on those chargers, connectors, etc all working when I get there, and would rather know I have a good ...

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

Why so complex, supply public plugins and people should bring the charger for their bike if they want to charge. Nobody supplies public power supplies for laptops at coffee shops, people simply bring their charger.

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

Did you remove the protective plastic sheet over the display before using it, maybe that is what is scratched and bubbled, not the actual display? I haven't had any problems with scratches.

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

I had similar problems in Windows 7, work computer with access restrictions. I got boost rights which is normally all that is needed for any software installs, but maybe drivers need a higher access right. Driver did not install automaticaly, downloaded it, tried to install it manuall but it would n...

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

I had recently charged it, so that should be ok. It terminated correctly on dV, I think max voltage got to 62.5, then dropped, just as pack was starting to get warm. Max charger temp got to 66C.

Ok, I will be watching it carefully for now. Got case temp to 64C so far, with output still at 363W, is that ok, I thought the manual says it scales output back above 60C?

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiast

Got one today as well, feels like Christmas! Tried charging a 48/10ah ezee pack, worked fine although it was 80% to start with. Now charging 48v 18ah older nimh pack. Charger didn't like the thermistor, which is reading 12k at room temperature. Charging without it for now. That charger case sure get...

Does anyone know if an auto tune feature for the speed controller PID would be a future possibility or if it has been considered? It seems like technically it should be possible?

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Just wanted to add one clarification to the translation of Sebba's post. He was referring to an overshoot and large swings in the speed, not a vibration per se. I think that was already fairly clear a few posts later but just in case....

I'd love to hear some details on how you are finding the charging - easy to find? What types of spots are you charging up at? Restaurants? Gas Stations, private homes? Malls? Also have you talked to people while charging, and how has the response been, receptive, ? Has anyone told you you can't char...
