Re: Why use a fuse on a pack?

I've always used a breaker. That way I can use it as a switch to take up the energizing spark in the place of the connectors.

...besides it being there as a "back up". It has tripped.

Re: RC Lipo series charging tutorial

I was measuring internal resistance in some packs I just bought. I believe that's measured in micro-ohms? One cell was showing 3x the resistance of all other cells. I remeasured, and it's consistently off. I'm getting .001 in the other 63 cells, but .003 in that one cell. Is that measurement meaning...

Re: Need advice on battery pack build

I just ordered enough multistar batteries to refresh 4 bikes and a stand-up mobility device, for the price of one battery from most places... Hobbyking.

I've never had a problem with them.

Yet.

Re: 12v 7ah batteries barely giving me a mile per charge

I do 16S cell count voltage and I like it. I’ve been using the Turnigy 20C 4S 5Ah hardcase. MultiStars don’t have quite the C rate and I prefer the form factor and added protection of the hardcase. Another advantage is that the hardcase come with 4mm bullet connectors which makes it much easier to ...

Re: Worst Crashes/Accidents/Failures etc on E-bike: Bring pi

Torque twisted the axle out of the forks on a hub motor (before we knew about torque arms).

Fall on outstretched arm. I require shoulder replacement. Lost wages over 1,000,000. Really. No joke.

It was worth it, though. Yolo.

Re: Worst Crashes/Accidents/Failures etc on E-bike: Bring pi

On my first build I rolled on the throttle at a corner, and my front wheel left without me. (front hub/no torque arm) It must have been hilarious to the pedestrians watching. It was a low speed crash, but I still can't lift my right arm, and the bike was done on the spot. I carried it home in pieces.

I think Zenn sources it's vehicles as complete shells without the mechanicals, so they're likely produced and in use somewhere at much higher speeds...should be safe to do. I got to ride in a Mitsubishi electric yesterday. My brother has a loaner/tester. He says that while it's been in testing they'...

Re: Has anyone repurposed an EZ limn with lipos???

The ez battery used a pc board to connect all of the prismatic batteries in series. I'm not sure that I want to just drop them off at a recycle depot, because most of the cells may still be good. The connecting pc board is almost flush with the batteries, though, and may not leave any wire to work w...

Re: Has anyone repurposed an EZ limn with lipos???

I unwrap Xmas presents slowly, too. Ypedal, you're right, it turns out that the wtf port is quite clever, and it IS for diagnostics. I can check the voltage across each battery in the series with it. That's useful because I notice that one of the battery pouches has expanded. Hmmmm... maybe I should...

Re: Front motor on shock fork - bad idea?

It looks like it would be fine for a front motor. I've been running 36v in a front suspension fork for a few years with no issues, without a torque arm. I'm about to change the tire on it, and while it's off, I'll add a torque arm, based on Justin's research. I have some Judys on mine, and I think t...

Neptronix

I may just try to find a resistive heater of some sort for winter, because the coldest weather comes with snow that eats power.

After peeling back the cases and the shrink wrap...so 10s for 36v...and 10ah. I would have expected that connector on the end to be used for balancing... but it's unused with a piece of tape over it.

Re: Has anyone repurposed an EZ limn with lipos???

It looks like li co nanotech 10S from hobby king will run around $300 after shipping to Canada. The old li mn were pretty good in the winter here. Their limitation was in only working 2 years. I'm not sure if the li co will handle the cold, but if I can figure out how to wire this thing, I should be...

Has anyone repurposed an EZ limn with lipos???

The EZ kits came with a great little case that hung off the side of a rear carrier. They had a short life span, but their controller and charger should work with lipos. Don't tell me that I'm going to be the first one to try it.... If someone has done something along those lines, what size of whose ...

It's lovely that simple questions can be ruminated on forever. Wood will not short your battery. You expect to be a regular user, so throttle use will be your major drain. Yahoo! Don't get me wrong...I love the discourse that comes from these questions. For deeper thinkers than me, don't let me stop...

Josh Goldberg EVsolutions.net

He owes me over $1500 (Canadian) and all replys are met with excuses. How many years am I expected to give him the benefit of the doubt. Eventually I have an ethical duty to warn others away from his business, and this is that warning.
