Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

I originally was going to go with https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcTZM_fbSxaMH4y9X60uRQWn0Nyzq3pZV05NqA&usqp=CAU But they aren't available anymore, unless you pay big bucks online. If I could come up with about eight empty (cosmetically good) 'Full Throttle' cans I would ...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

All that remains is to weld on the shaft collars. I think one on each side of the hub. Two set screws being better than one.... “Set screws” ?......for brake hubs ? That isnt going to last.! Keyways and keys needed Why dont you just use Kart components ?....they are readily available and ch...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

The weather in the last couple of days has been super. I have been energized to get out in the shop and work on something, anything. I chose to make the hubs for mounting the rear brake discs, and here is some progress. But first When your cutting discs get too small do you throw them out? If so, yo...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

From experience with SB Cruiser, this isn't necessarily true of a heavily-loaded-rear long-wheelbase trike (or quad). The rear brakes are actually the main brakes on my trike because while the front brake will stop the trike by itself, under various conditions it cant' be used at full strength with...

Finally got 'undepressed' long enough to work on the brake foot lever. From an old Gannon fork tine, back when I had a garden tractor. DSCN4790.JPG Cut angled welded drilled and semi ground smooth. Still have cosmetic holes to drill out and trim to length. DSCN4791.JPG Trial fit of mounting hardware...

That looks pretty good. At least you can adjust it so they are both engaging at the same spot. Use Loctite.
Thanks fechter. Loctite for sure. Also some lock nuts as well.

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Isn't it just a standard flare fitting? You can buy a cheap HF tool that makes the lines or do what I usually did and just buy already made up brake lines. I wished it would be flared fittings. I have the tools for that. But the kits I bought have banjo fittings on them. All the lines have banjo fi...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Ok, I'm convinced. I came here for advice, and it's been great, so thank you. I will work on hooking up just one MC first. Give it test and see how that will work. If not I can always hook up the other MC. So now I need to find the right 'T', that doesn't ship from China, and take two months to get ...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

I'm not sure why you feel you need 2 cylinders. They use them on cars for safety reasons. One brake cylinder will stop your cart just fine. Just like on a bike the rear brakes don't do much for stopping power anyway. Like they do on cars, you can use a hydraulic proportioning valve to fine tune fro...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

No Ed, With the dual system master cylinders the two brake cuircuits are completely separate other than a common top up reservior . If on circuit leaks or fails completely, the other system still functions normally. That is the whole reason they were developed. The video is quite clear on that. Poi...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Thanks for the suggestion Hillhater. Looking at the video, it looks like the cylinder he is using is a single piston dual line cylinder for two brake lines...right? That may be OK, except (correct me if I'm wrong) my cylinder has two separate chambers, (3 ports) thus if I lose one line, the other li...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

If you had a bar that goes across both actuators and push on the middle of the bar with a pivot, the force would always be equal on both actuators. If the pivot was off center a little, you could have more force on one side than the other if you wanted that. In your case, I think equal will be good...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

There might be a tendency for one cylinder to travel a bit further than the other resulting in uneven force. I guess cars with dual cylinder brakes are like this too and they work, but I was thinking you might want some kind of linkage that applies equal force to both cylinders. If there is some ad...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Got my second brake kit. It isn't 'exactly' like the other one. A bit of style change, even though both sellers used the same picture. It's not going to be a problem. The only big difference is the fluid cup is larger, and the brake switch connections are different. But neither one is a problem. I'v...

Part of my nonproductivity has been a lack of knowing which thing to tackle next. Well, I finally made a decision and now it's 3/4 speed ahead. Can't go full steam. :) I wasn't sure how I wanted to finish the rear brake issue. Since I only had one caliper/disc, it really didn't give me the braking a...

Sweet! Have you been able to test drive it yet? Looks like the brakes are mounted. No, not yet. I wish I was that far along. The steering is so easy, it's like power steering. I need to source some different brake lines. The one that came with the 'kit' isn't really to my liking. My son works for a...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

It's coming along nicely! You are getting pretty good with body work. The body lines are pleasing too. It's probably just me, but I'd get rid of the Budweiser cans or maybe paint them. They look a bit tacky to me. Let Budweiser pay for their own advertising. They can afford it. Not advertising beer...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Steering wheel position does look less far away then it first appeared without you in the Hot Rod. How does it feel though? Wouldn't it be a more relaxed driving position with the steering wheel tilted a little more towards you and maybe a bit higher? I think that when you unbolt the steering wheel...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Nice. I would prefer a solid top but that might be an issue for the ejection seat. I don’t see any brake hoses yet so I guess too early for a test drive. You might want to periodically check your battery voltage just to make sure it isn’t slowly draining. It should stay ok for a long time without c...
