Re: Upgraded Fat Tire bike stopped running, something seems Burnt!!

If the motor spins easily with the controller unplugged, then the motor is probably OK. You need a new controller. Great, hope so!! I will run a quick test on the battery ASAP, hope it is ok too. If so will order a new controller soon. Any suggestions on which model, maybe there is a better one tha...

Re: Upgraded Fat Tire bike stopped running, something seems Burnt!!

Unplug the motor from the controller and see if the abnormal resistance to pushing backward disappears. If so, the controller is shorted. You can also check the controller with an ohmmeter once the motor is unplugged. Measure resistance from each phase wire to B-. Reverse the meter probes and measu...

Re: Upgraded Fat Tire bike stopped running, something seems Burnt!!

Thanks, its a geared hub. It was originally the 350W version, but I swapped in the "guts" of a new 750 into the case, which is a perfect fit. I will check the cables but I don't think any are burnt or damaged enough to see on the outside, but will disconnect and check today. Not sure how t...

Upgraded Fat Tire bike stopped running, something seems Burnt!!

Hey guys, need some help here!! So, I upgraded my fat tire bike with all new components: 52V 21Ah battery, 35A controller, Color LCD, 750W Bafang rear Hub, throttle, etc. Everything was working good for a month or more across all terrains, no issues! Last ride, I rode in some heavy beach sand areas ...

Re: New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

Good news Update!!! :D So first I hooked up the LCD that was not working back on the other Sondor's bike I pulled it from. Originally it was working perfectly there for months. That is a 36v system still. This LCD does exactly the same thing there, no battery bar, MPH, etc. Tried with the original t...

Re: New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

If you're swapping back and forth between 2 displays, with one working and the other not, with no other changes, I think it pretty safe to assume one of the displays is defective. Agreed, yep thats exactly what I ended up doing. :D Whether its the built-in cabling on that unit or something else, so...

Re: New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

Yea everything should be under warranty, I will verify. The above picture of the green connector is directly connected to the LCD unit, which also goes directly to the on/off power switch and PAS up/down, all of this is a single unit. So by hooking up the non-working LCD multiple times even after th...

How did you determine P5=22? Try 15 to start with.
I had 15 to start with, the vendor asked me to try 22. Will be going out to test a few things now...

Post your parameter settings please. All of them. They can't all be right.
Here is how they were recently. Very much ready to test the controller to LCD cables today, I think that may be it!

Re: New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

I have 2 ideas I am going to try this afternoon... A spare throttle I have to test with, and remove the LCD extension cable (green plug) from the LCD to the controller since it was needed to reach. Maybe there is an issue with it or THAT is the incompatible part! :D

Re: New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

So everything here is new, controller and display (LCD). There is only the "green" connector for that and then the black one for the throttle, right? Today I will test using another throttle I have and see if that works. Were the display and controller come as a set? Yes! At least its com...

Re: New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

This sounds like somebody is trying to install a Bolton upgrade kit (basically a KT control and display with plug and play wire connectors to match the Sonders) on a Sonders bike without reading the directions. Have you made any attempt at setting the controller parameters using the display? Have y...

Re: New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

did the display come with the new controller? or is it original with the bike? if it isn't matched to the controller, it might not communicate with teh controller in the same "language". if the controller and display aren't connected correctly on the two data lines, no data will pass betw...

Re: New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

All of the main components are brand new. The only original components here would be the brakes and PAS sensor. I also tried with these not plugged in, same result. I will try another throttle tomorrow. I think I did try another LCD, but I can try that tomorrow too.

New upgrade, several LCD functions not working properly!?!?

So I have a original Sondors fat bike that I am upgrading. Everything is in place and turns on fine, but it seems like there are a few issues: Process: So the first thing I did was replace the "guts" of this new 750W hub motor into the case of the original 350W hub on the wheel. All went g...

Re: Dengfu E10 ebike full black mat build

Very nice build! If you dont mind me asking, how much did the total build cost? What were the most difficult steps building this one? I am considering the same, I agree I think the frame is a perfect setup for a new eMTB build! :)

Re: Dreambuild EMTB Dengfu M09/Luna X1 Bafang M600 with a slacker fork angle/Increased wheelbase

The E10 as built is a beast of machine with the only downside being the low bottom bracket height made worse by the long 170mm Bafang custom cranks. This results in pedal strikes on every ride so I am hanging out for the rumored Lekkie aftermarket shorter cranks. For me the M600 has more than enoug...

Rohloff hub with a gates belt drive I would be a buyer. Re: Should I add a motor to this MTB bike frame or find another source?

Geared hubs just can’t survive my riding style and power requirements. But it isn't helpful to go to eveyrone's threads simply telling them what *you* need to use, for *your* riding style and power requirements, especially without explanation. You have to help them figure out what *they* need to us...

Re: Should I add a motor to this MTB bike frame or find another source?

So not too fast, 30Mph tops is plenty. I figured the DD 9C RH212 rear hub was a good choice for the speed and terrain i was going to use this for. I think my only concern here is simply the drop outs and making sure whatever TA I would have to use would be appropriate and safe! I know everyone will ...

I see a mac as a toy that is very easy to break and even easier to fry.
Hi... So just curious here... I was actually planning a 9C DD hub but its prob close enough to a MAC, just not geared. Why do you say this about the MAC? Is it due to it being geared or a hub?

Re: Should I add a motor to this MTB bike frame or find another source?

Having said that, I am still not sure if that original hub motor idea was optimal based on the drop out of this frame? Torque plates bolted to the existing dropouts. See the Torque Arm Picture thread, or any of the many posts about torque plates, clamping dropouts, etc. for ideas. (yes, you would h...

Re: Should I add a motor to this MTB bike frame or find another source?

Here, "high power" might be used to describe power from something like a MAC 12t geared hub, which will work just fine on a hard tail. I have several months and a few hundred miles behind that opinion. Yep, a mac is good for that bike, but it is nowhere near high power. Here, the fun begi...
