Re: (mini) Jump Bikes Review

Semantics... But sure I agree.

I have been renting Jump Bikes... Even tho I have two perfectly good personal ebikes.

I like not worrying when I reach the end of the "last mile"... As opposed to the weight of protecting personal property.

Re: (mini) Jump Bikes Review

Step one is sparking interest in ebikes.
Charge station, swaps, pickup program... Matters not.

This early.. . they need to pick them up just to assess wear and service mechanical parts.

Santa Cruz now has a generation who think power assist rocks.

WOOOHOOO Finally got the controllers re-flashed for pure current mode. .... And the best news of all, the bike runs straight and true .... Wow...I'm just elated. And a huge huge shoutout to Fany and Kelly Controllers. ... Kelly is a good company. They treated me well over the years. They make good ...

Soooo much information. Thanks for posting. Let me read through this and I may have some questions. In the mean time, thanks for sharing all this knowledge. Re: Spot welding fuses to individual 18650 cells?

Yes yes but I want a 80amp pack 120peak like a 20s8p of Samsung 25r. But what buss bar systen can supply that and fit on a bike. Keep your fuses. Hey Zip Its ok... I want a 100A/200A peak :P For my ebikes I still run pouch cells Their roots are in RC flight and that aligns perfectly with ebikes. I ...

Re: Sevcon Gen 4 Errors and Solutions thread

To be clear If nit picking In this very particular case It is more reliable to run a coil that is of a voltage that is close to your pack This lowers the stress on the PWM fets (one top that stays on, but the bottom nchannel switches) They are small fets and ... if they fail... your system will fail...

Re: Sevcon Gen 4 Errors and Solutions thread

That means over current on your contactor coil This is because the Sevcon is PWM'ing your pack voltage and sending that to your coil. If it is a raw coil... it works... as say your pack is 100V and the coil is 24V you send a 25% duty cycle... you get ok voltage Your contactor has built in supression...

Re: Domino throttle

I have seen them overseas but they are more a company that you spec and order batches from... So from the supplier I am sure you could get sample batches out of them - 5 could happen but 20 is where I usually start (Enough to convince them that you are doing an engineering evaluation) Zero specified...

2008? Zero Wheel (rim laced to hub)

I have on my KMX trike a rim I think it came from a 2008 Zero... so that would be a 17" motorcycle rim? I used to adapt (lace) all bike rims to the special KMX hub... which takes a funny shaft size... but that got old. I had an adapter machined with the ID of the KMX shaft and the OD to fit this par...

Re: Spot welding fuses to individual 18650 cells?

Kit for 30 cells = $1 a cell
So - 10*14 = $140

For that.... You could build a kit which is sound (in an engineering sense) and safe.

Re: Spot welding fuses to individual 18650 cells?

So back to the OP Back on topic Using the legos provided (I have mine) I wish to build a pack which can be serviced and rebuilt I believe the best method to do this is to spring-load We know from our proofs above that should a single spring fail it will not fail our pack (Proof, we build P then S, p...

So looking at these Lego cell combiners (thank you to OP... you are RAD for sharing this) Mine have channels built in for strips right out of the box My caliper says they are 0.300 inches across Obviously this was the original intent Run strips across the parallel tracks Go over the top of that (or ...

A quick note: 1) My "lego cell holders" came in from Amazon... They are GREAT! My Accountant ordered them as a surprise for me They were DIRT CHEAP They hold together well They grasp the cells well They are the only way to go IMHO - as they keep an air gap between the cells (Please new folks - never...

Re: 2WD trike pulling left when accelerating

P.S. Most people running dual controllers are doing so in a tandem configuration. Speed mode is a confusing mode for many people. It can be visualized in 2 ways 1) Big difference in current speed vs demanded speed This is like flipping an OpAmp into saturation - the current limit dominates 2) Tiny d...

Keeping away so as to bring the different perspective: Started reading a few pages back Skimmed the last page or two ... I saw a side by side freewheel test... Re: 2WD trike pulling left when accelerating

Well, looks like the hub motor is the culprit. I swapped controllers side to side, reran the Angle ID program and took it for a test ride. Pulls hard left, just as before. Anyone have ideas for troubleshooting at this point? Good troubleshooting I was going to suggest: 1) lift and listen... Is eith...
