As smug as ever, I see. The government, rather than breaking up the internet monopolies, is pushing them to censor speech. This is appallingly dangerous, and stupid.
Should Facebook carry any content it wants?

Or should the government tell them what they should carry?

Re: Can voltage drop damage a lithium battery?

Lets say I have a Li-Po cell rated for 2.2-4.2V, if the cell drops below the 2.2v minimum while under load and returns back to a 3.7v nominal when the load is removed, can this cause damage to the cell? Yes. In addition you are likely exceeding the rated discharge limit for the cell if it's droppin...

How about an axle that can accommodate big ass phase wires with better wire routing to the outside.
I would think you would NOT want wiring routed through the axle. It's more prone to damage that way.

Re: Charging an Electric Battery with Gas (a car does this)

Generator = motor, so this is added either way Nope. With direct drive, you only have one generator/motor - the bike's hub motor. It's not more efficient, hence the adoption of series hybrids. There are very few pure series hybrids. The Prius line are all parallel. The Volt claimed to be a series h...

Re: Help confirming Pre Charge Technical

Does the resistor come before the switch? Battery>Resistor>Switch>Controller. Resistor goes ACROSS the main power switch. You then have a second precharge switch (usually a button) that you push to charge it up. What switch is suitable. What specifications should I look for. (I have blown up 1 in t...

Re: Charging an Electric Battery with Gas (a car does this)

This would be terribly inefficient and subject to failure. ?? Would be way simpler than adding a generator and charge controller to the mix. Gas engine driving a wheel is something that go-karts, mopeds and motorcycles do every day, and they are pretty robust. The design is, as they say, mature. An...

Re: Charging an Electric Battery with Gas (a car does this)

I wonder if I could find a 52v configuration like this, that would allow me to essentially not have to worry about range but not have a gas motor just a gas generator. Gas motor on a trailer is a lot easier. Trailer pushes you, and you don't need any extra connection to the battery. Regen charges t...

I forget if i alluded earlier but the reason for this is i want like 200 mile range ebike at 25+mph, which is not possible without a generator. also, a engine powered bike is illegal in my state so i had to make a hybrid. Is that a 120V light switch to switch DC? (very, very bad) Or is it connected...

I think overall, ridiculous. Agreed. But there could be worse things he could be doing. Heck, if it distracts him, and he stops (say) smoking because he's distracted, it may even do him some good. My suggestion is to drive the trailer wheel directly with the gas motor. Pretty much every DD hub out ...

Re: First Ebike: Too much Battery ?

I’m a total beginner here working on my first build. The bike is complete and I’m so far happy with the motor setup. I wanted a light, small motor that could accept a Shimano 1x11 drive train so I purchased the Bafang G310 (250w nominal) rear hub from Grin. I paired it with a Grin C-4820-GR_Higo 36...

Re: How to charge bike battery to only 80% ?

Most of the common chargers can be adjusted (with a screwdriver) via a trim potentiometer inside: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViORzKrOfHU Note that reducing charge voltage accomplishes the objective of reducing max charge level nicely. However, terminating early (i.e. at C/4 instead of C/10 or ...

Re: Wh/mile vs. riding range for a battery

I have a bike with TSDZ2 running OSF that graphs out running Wh/mile on the display. My battery is 14s/52v, 12 Ah which equates to 625 Wh. On a recent ride I started out with a 85% soft charge to about 56.6V, rode about 35 miles and finished with an unloaded voltage of about 43V. I repeated the sof...

I'm excited to see what Toyota does when they enter the full EV arena. They are simply waiting for better battery (or other) tech and then they will swoop in when it makes financial sense to. Perhaps. But Tesla is able to make good EV's with the batteries that exist today - and that is going to giv...

real car companies are finally coming for Tesla Good! More competition = more choices and lower prices. Good to know. Among the chief benefits of electric vehicles are clean, dry, simple, and low-maintenance operation. If my controller is 50A can I use a 60A battery on it? Will it effect my controller? The controller, not the battery, sets the current. Thus a 60A capable battery will only deliver 50A into a controller, since that's all the controller will pull. (Note that if you exceed the current rating of the b...
