Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
If you've barely used the brakes and then lock them up there should be almost no heat. Obviously what creates heat is rubbing/friction between the pads and the rotor and if the pads are clamped hard onto the rotor in the case of a lock up there's no friction there as it's transferred to the tyre ski...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
To all those out there that swear the Sur Ron can't compute with "real" dirt bikes! This guy took first place in an open class race! Cool. Though to be fair it doesn't look like the other riders were trying too hard - most he overtook were just putting around. Bummer about the key-off del...

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics
Thanks CD. I'm making it a mental health priority to make time for more rides! you going to make a video? Would like to see a couple of more close up pics of both sides. Thanks. I could make a video but it probably wouldn't be very exciting as I have to take it real easy. Even with the suspension se...

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics
Hey guys, I've been out of action for a while with health dramas and then trying to get on with things, but I've FINALLY finished building my beta after 2 years! (this is why I had to give up building bikes for other people!) This may be my last ebike for the forseeable future, and if so, that's OK!...

Sevcon size 4 - 48v - 450A
Hey guys, I've got a 48v (69.9v max, so 14S lipo) sevcon size 4 controller. These spit out huge power for their size, 450A and 540A peak! This is technically used but has barely been off the bench. It was fitted to a motorcycle conversion that was never finished, let alone registered, so it's only d...

Re: Coast -> throttle apply -> dead. KT72SVPRK + KT-LCD3
I'm experiencing a similar thing after coasting and it's not the battery causing the power fade. I've tried it with a fully charged lipo pack so there's no way it can't deliver the power a small controller is asking of it. When trying to configure the motor P settings it would also cause a dimming o...

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics
Nice work CD. Are you printing with ABS ? It'll be interesting to see how it holds up - it looks like that narrow section where it bolts to the mount is a weak spot, though I guess if it's solid it'd be strong enough. I use a topeak front mudguard cable tied directly to the shock mount and find it's...

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics
Where is Jay at? He reads my pms but no responce Sorry I've been sick on and off for the last few months and haven't been online much. I read your PM in bed on my phone but had to wait until I was in front of a PC to look up the shipping. PM sent. Cheeko, likewise sorry for the delay in getting you...

+1 to post pics!
I've only seen this pic on their facebook page of the blue X model. Looks like a bigger sprocket and different graphics on the battery and controller but otherwise largely unchanged.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Yeah I'd say just rebranding - can't really be illegal as car manufacturers have been doing it for years. They went to a fair length though, even putting a little carbon sticker over the speedo display so you can't see where it says surron! I'm guessing they also painted the machined face of the con...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Well was that mythbuster site really put up by Luna? Why didn't they host it on their own domain if it was their write up? The articles alternate between 1st and 3rd person when talking about Luna. LOL Obviously not openly declaring they are Luna is to hide the bias so people who stumble upon the s...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I am not bashing Luna here, I got nothing but respect I just think some of the mythbusters might not be bulls eye dead center. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems electricmotorcycle.com is Luna up to their old tricks again - making a website thinly veiled as independent journalism when re...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
This Model X seems to have a different motor as well because they declared 5400 rpm against the 4500 rpm of the standard model. Yes most likely just field weakening as the others have said. It's well documented you can make a motor spin much faster with the same input voltage and current with field...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I just can't believe such tiny rubber hairs cut through the aluminum! Wow! That's pretty crazy. As you said it must have been transferring grit than than just the straight rubber. Who'd have thunk it in a game of scissors, paper, rock, rubber, aluminium  Does it have around a 1in ground cleara...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Wow that's super impressive. Hard to believe such a little motor rated at 3kw can handle peaks of 10x that. Especially when Artur claims he overheated an early version stock bike. Given the abuse I've hurled at mine with no issue I found that hard to believe. It must have had some shocking tuning or...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
How's the colour in person ? Is it powdercoat or anodizing ? It looks fairly thin in the pics but I guess it's hard to tell. In the pedal kit tutorial video posted ages back the swing arm and main frame are a different colour which looked pretty average. As for the battery charging thing, as I alway...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Ah crap man! Don't you hate those innocent looking silly crashes that bring you unstuck. Thumbs up for good protective gear, but as you've found it won't stop blunt force trauma! I had a good stack last year where I hit the ground so hard I got a black eye right through the padding in my full face h...

pEwmKHFf_ew Tacticool Alpha Cool! Is this part of a bigger video to follow ? I see you had a camera man, with a gimbal, so I'm guessing there could be a bigger vid to follow. Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Incredible it was so well matched with a 450, was he giving it everything the 450 had? These are no where near a 450 in any aspect - at least not for general use. The only place you'd keep or up is on a tight twisty track where the 450 can't get the power down. I rode my surron and a ktm 450 back t...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Next will be a 52 tooth and I will do 22 pcs. 52t could be the pick of the bunch I reckon. Talking to Adam he hasn't measured the top speed with the 58t yet but he said it's quite noticeably less. It sounds like it could leave the top end a little too light on for general riding, which I don't thin...

I thought the same fechter but I googled it and apparently there is an "air type" circuit breaker, meaning to creates a physical air gap between the contacts when the breaker is open (vs a solid state type?) https://www.elprocus.com/air-circuit-breaker-acb-working-principle-application/ St...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
the RST's are $50 more from the factory I'm still not sure how this adds up. I dont know what the forks cost from fastace but I do know how much the RSTs are wholesale. And I know that what surron charges for a set of the fastace as a replacement spare part is twice the wholesale price of the RSTs....

The response from luna was : We will do nothing for you until YOU prove the battery capacity is low, and you will also pay to ship it back. Wow, those were their words ? That's a nice way to treat someone who's actually benefiting them with free product marketing from your youtube vids. I suspect y...
