Re: KT controller defective, but why?

Hi. At the time the controller failed completely, the battery was about half empty. I routinely use the brake the first time after charging around 150m from home when I cross an intersection. Then the battery would be almost full, but full in my case means that the A123 cells are only charged to aro...

Re: KT controller defective, but why?

Hi Amberwolf, thanks for your quick answer. Thankfully, no wiring issues are possible the way my harness is designed. The motor has bearings with a very large inner race, so the aluminium spacer between the axle and the inner race has 4 separate holes for each of the individual phase wires and the 5...

KT controller defective, but why?

Hi guys, I believe that my KT controller gave up the ghost today, but I do not know why or what exactly happened. Maybe you can help. First, the details: I have a 20" bike, running on 16s A123 (~50V), with a Heinzmann motor (rather large direct drive). Gallery: https://imgur.com/a/tTuFe I have this ...

Re: Questions concerning S12S / S06S controllers (options, current control, etc)

Meanwhile, I solved practically all problems. I soldered 4110 100V Fets in the controller. I desoldered the linear regulator and bolted it to the inside of the case, to make it run cooler. I also exchanged the Caps against 100V Low ESR 5000h types, just to be on the safe side. I cleaned some excess ...

Re: Cop proof throttle

I do not think there is any law that forbids to use a grip that can be turned, but does not do anything. Add a secret switch or a jumper that disables the throttle function, so that only PAS is left to activate your motor. Tell the cop that you used the throttle grip to test the motor in your baseme...

Re: meanwell hlg-185h-54a power supplys cc/cv lipo bulk charger

Hey guys, could someone test for me if it is possible to open the case and access the voltage control poti? I would like to bridge it with another poti and a cable with a switch, so that I could switch between two preset voltages with an external switch. Thanks!

Re: Verified information about Puma winding number <-->RPM relation needed

Hi, I do not plan to tear my working stator apart as of yet. I asked the local Puma distributor if they could order me a "naked" stator a few days ago, but the answer is still pending. Changing the battery is out of the question, as it is a custom built of 64 single A123 cells.

Verified information about Puma winding number <-->RPM relation needed

Hey guys, I recently finished my ebike. It's a Giant Revive with 20" wheels, a 16S LiFePo battery (51V) and a Puma (with 225RPM/36V). This setup is a bit too fast for me, I want the freewheeling RPMs of the motor to max out <25km/h. Right now, the freewheeling speed goes up to 34km/h. A Motor with 1...

Ok, so there's one wire of which I don't quite understand the function: https://i.imgur.com/KRwSa10.jpg The last item on the list: Regardless if connected or disconnected, I don't see any change in behaviour. I set my speed limits for PAS and throttle to 40kph, and the motor electrically maxes out a...

Building a 2-stage LiFePo charger, good / feasible idea?

Hi guys, I'm starting to finish my second e-Bike, and I still have the charger left over from my first one. I modified a Meanwell power supply for 3A charge current and an adjustable voltage. The pack I'm going to charge will have 16s5p A123 cells. The BMS I have is the one in the first image here: ...

Re: Drill battery build help - Noobie seeking direction

Hi! I finished a very similar project a while ago: https://imgur.com/a/GBcvW https://i.imgur.com/OOtcS2Bl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VGjf8Eul.jpg I also had the problem that the BMS cut out prematurely under load. A test revealed >100A are possible at full throttle. So I bypassed the BMS for discharge....

Re: Questions concerning S12S / S06S controllers (options, current control, etc)

Ok good, I think I have a plan then. I will just use 3 10k trimmers in parallel, and adjust each of then to a different output voltage. Depending on what throttle% I want the controller to see, I will connect them individually to the throttle sense wire. Concerning the current reduction, What I had ...

Re: Questions concerning S12S / S06S controllers (options, current control, etc)

Thank you very much for your answers so far! Concerning the "stuck throttle" problem, I'm planning to to add a switch on the handlebar anyways, with which I can activate full throttle. Is a hall sensor neccessary or can I simply connect 5V to the throttle signal wire for permanent full throttle? As ...

Questions concerning S12S / S06S controllers (options, current control, etc)

Hey guys, I'm planning to build another E-Bike for several years now, since the last one I built was stolen. The complicated setup of the controllers I knew back when I started the build has always been a bit of a mental demotivation. But today, by chance I read about the S12S and similar controller...

Re: Oil cooling your hub- NOT snake oil!

Hi guys, I just glanced through the thread, but I probably oversaw this information: Why do you prefer ATF to regular mineral oil? Is it because mineral oil is usually thicker and therefore would produce more drag? If this was the case, have a look at Pentosin LHM+ http://www.pentosin.de/shop_produk...

Re: Current Limiter design for HP server PS - DPS-600PB

Hi! Thanks for this extremely useful thread. I want to use 2 of these supplies in parallel to power my RC chargers. As I understand it, the mx. voltage one can get out so far is 13.8V, but sometimes under high loads the overvoltage protection is tripped, so 13.5V might be the maximum. I find this in...

Hi, thanks for your answer. It works exactly as you described. Both PAS and twist throttle work independently. Re: New Crystalyte Motor series (HT35 / HS35 and HT24 / HS24

Hi Spacey! I think I have figured it out how to make Crystalytes waterproof. First thing, apply a drip loop to the cables. http://freshaquarium.about.com/od/equipmentquestions/f/driploop.htm This means, if possible, install the axle in a way that the cable slot faces downwards. Otherwise, the water ...

Hi guys! I just read here about these very interesting new types of motors, and fortunatelly, the rear HT3525 will be perfect for my planned bike with a 20" rim and a 16s LiFePo4 battery . I currently use a Crystalyte 408 motor on my push trailer: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=216...
