Re: Courier ebike project advice

Do you think a suspension saddle post would help improve your comfort? There are some pretty cheap ones that would maybe help? Suspension seatpost only takes the edge off, not a real substitute for well-engineered suspension. "Cheap ones" even less effective. Dogman dan told something int...

Silicone grease should be safe on pretty much any wire jacket. Or could use commonly available and trusted product made especially for this problem, widely used everyday by electricians: https://www.thespruce.com/wire-pulling-compound-or-cable-lube-1152898 https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/wire-pu...

Re: Purchasing a bike from Alibaba (12kw, 15kw) Leili

It came with a Cycle Analyst display. This i find interesting. Do they get the CA from Grin Tech? - Suspension, especially the front fork, isn't great. It's fine for the road, but this bike is called "Enduro" so I'd expect it to be decent offroad as well. I did pay for the upgraded front ...

Re: Courier ebike project advice

Re batteries, the NYC delivery bike riders surely have some kind of place they stash batteries under charge. Definitely can't be a built in battery. To get through a long day, you'd need about 4 kw of batteries. According to the article I linked, https://www.curbed.com/article/nyc-delivery-workers....

Only thing that comes to mind is possible compensation for dish but .5mm difference seems more like sloppy production line tolerances than purposeful calculation/cut to deal with wheel dish.

Re: Are footpegs superior if you don't pedal?

Question "Are footpegs superior if you don't pedal?" has been answered by the OP, two years after he asked it, back on page one, about half way down. Answered, at least to the satisfaction of the OP.

Anything worthwhile in the subsequent 4 pages?

Re: Courier ebike project advice

Courier to me describes cross-town paper/documents/plans delivery, usually not very heavy or bulky. Most courier delivery bikers I've known use a sling-over-the-shoulder messenger style pack. Don't see them as much anymore. Electronic PDF signing, E-Documents, E-Sign, etc. seem to have reduced the n...

Re: Dahon Folder Grin Kit Conversion

I'm not sure how casually one can remove these types of batteries (Hailong etc) from their cradles. I do anticipate removing the battery to charge and if it's simple enough, I'll toss it in a back pack before my assent. Easily slides forward after unlocking. Bit more force required initially to dis...

Can't go wrong with the largest battery. :thumb: 11 lbs. for 954Wh is not bad. The main thing is that you will be able to avoid the extremes of full charges and deep discharges, which should help battery longevity immensely. Do you have to store it all in your 4th floor apt.? No elevator? Better add...

I thought Europe was much harsher on ebikers. I always see videos of cops stopping ebikes and checking them, giving them tickets.
Europe is a big place. Many countries, regions, municipalities, towns, etc. With varying levels of ebike policing policies.

Re: Optimal Gearing + Cycle Computer Cadence Measuring

my cadence (no clue but guessing its 65-70rpm) This is very wonderfully simple to measure. Requires only a watch with a second hand, and a short stretch with no distractions or probable dangers: When pedaling at your preferred cadence, count how many revolutions your right foot (or left) makes for ...

Re: Does my brand new hub motor have a bent axle? (4K video)

You could run it as is, but it is much better to find the best position in order to have the least wobble, of course. That is a self-help possibility, isn't it? Could try reclocking the cover(s?) to find the smoothest rotational results. Mark one spot on the motor flange next to a cover screw, and ...

Yeah it's gotta be something like 2000 watts when I'm pedaling full burst on this thing. I'm pretty strong and with the high gearing I can really pedal hard especially with the throttle full blast. Good question. From your photos ... the dropouts appear to be in surprisingly good shape given your usage case descriptions.
