Re: E-bike Achilles heel?

Disc lock (w/ loud alarm) + quality u-lock seems to do pretty good. Although u-locks are quickly and quietly popped by a small bottle jack. Thinking about two disc locks, F/R. They are small and easy to carry. My best e-bike was stolen from a vestibule within about 60 seconds. ALL the homeless encam...

Re: Purchasing a bike from Alibaba (12kw, 15kw) Leili

What battery cells are likely to come with the one I linked in the original post? What brand controller/motor? If they're no-name, is that bad? Are these bikes generally someone reliable? Only the vendor can answer those questions. Have you asked them? If the answers are evasive, ambiguous, or othe...

Just make a lifesize cardboard cutout of the battery profile (to include the mount and attach/detach clearances) and hold it in position on the frame, see if it physically fits.

Is that really a moped? Or is a moped supposed to have pedals? Hence the name moped.

Re: Help with battery size fitting for a merida big seven

I just did some more measurement on the frame after taking the water bottle holder off, It appears it's might just fit the jumbo shark. Just. With about 10cm to play with on both directions. I'll need to go back and check the location of the bolt and reconfirm You can add rivnuts to the downtube in...

It's like; why is it on sale? Is there something wrong with it? Was I being overcharged before? Who knows... Maybe they have to pay rent, maybe the market changed, maybe they are overstocked, lots of reasons. You could ask them. If you are in the USA, dealing with a USA vendor can be more at...

Even old and abused, 40 $ bearings set and 15 minutes of work are making it just as new.
Is this for sealed bearings or does it apply to [race, loose bb, and cone] bearings?

I liked forum member geosped's method of folding over slack wires and compressing them in a length of heatshrink tubing:

I'm not mechanically illiterate - I'm reasonably confident I could do any of the assembly required eventually. Ok, sorry (I'll apologize for the others too), it's just that many of your previous questions threw us. So you are mechanically literate as you say. Successfully putting together a reliabl...

Re: trunk mounted bike carry racks

Also not a fan of trunk or hatch mount. I have carried plenty of multiple heavy bikes on my Allen brand 3 bike hitch mount carrier. Thickwall steel channel, overspec'd fasteners. Biggest/heaviest was a 65-70 lb. Radpower Radwagon longtail utility e-bike. No problem at all.

Re: Help decide between All-Axle and GMAC

I also wanted any opinions if it's possible to have a Hybrid as an ebike or if I should stick with converting the MTB. Depends mostly on the quality of the roads in your area. Poorly maintained, numerous potholes, R/R tracks, etc. strongly favor at least front suspension and wider tires. It becomes...

Re: High performance & durability Cannondale Semi Recumbent

For a FS, there's a lot of room in that (not quite a) triangle, a definite plus.

Have you ever ridden a headshok? I have one, wouldn't classify it as "squooshy ." It was a good option in its day (strong and lightweight), but telescoping fork performance has long surpassed it.

Another option: You could relieve the plastic in the cradle where it hits the rivnut. (Large diameter drill bit or dremel tool, etc.)

How can I protect it? I was thinking to wrap it with something like a 'big condom'. You can search on shock boot, they are commonly made of neoprene, fits over the shock with velcro. You will want to open it up and inspect after wet/muddy rides because, as MadRhino stated above, dirt and moisture m...

Re: Issue with the rear shock on my Recumbent - new setup

There is a massive nut on top of the spring, but I cannot unscrew it. I could adjust it in the past but now it is stuck. From your photo it looks like the adjusting nut has rusted to the top of the spring (not sure, it could just be dirt) so yes, try a good rust penetrant over several days, giving ...

Well OK, you got er done, good, but you struggled with those screws unnecessarily the hard way. What you described is known as security hex screws. Bits for those screws are easily found, here is an example that maybe? is convenient to you (no idea where you live): https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwau...

Torque arms: If you choose a direct drive motor, and the kit doesn't include a torque arm, you should purchase one (or two). Don't cheap out on torque arms, they must fit tightly to be of use. Threads: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=93562&hilit=torque+arm+photos https...
