Re: Eggrider V2 Display

To get that question answered, join (I hate to say this) the facebook eggrider group. George, who wrote and maintains the ER software, reads it and responds. (It's having to deal with facebook that I don't like. George is okay.)

Re: Wind turbine at 1 m/s

Factlet: 1 m/s is about equal to 1 parsec/eon, which is more cosmic and inspiring.

Re: Eggrider V2 Display

Recent updates to Eggrider app and firmware allow frictionless firmware updates via the app. It used to be a pain. There is one little thing, though, with the iOS app. You must allow apps under Settings/Privacy/Tracking to Request to Track , at least temporarily, so you can grant tracking to the ER....

Re: Eggrider V2 Display

I've been using the ER v2 for more than a year and like it, especially with the latest release which improves both the display and the phone app. When I first got the ER, updating the firmware was frustrating. Now it's much easier to do. ER gives access to the motor parameters, and the latest versi...

Re: EM3ev WARNING - abysmal customer support.

Previously, I thought the originator of this thread was just a difficult and unreasonable person. It appears I underestimated him. He's worse. As I mentioned earlier, I ordered the same battery at about the same time. I am delighted with it so far and with the level of customer service. I expect it ...

Re: EM3ev WARNING - Possible exit scam!

I completed a road test today. Battery is fine. Though it has a smart bms no known iOS app communicates with it. Only Android. So, I don't have a detailed idea of what's going on inside, parallel group by parallel group, temperature, &c. Joseph told me that they are working on an iOS app for it....

Re: EM3ev WARNING - Possible exit scam!

Got the EM3 14s7p battery this afternoon. It was extremely well-packed, and has no apparent physical damage, not even cosmetic damage like Mr Peyote has been fretting over. The connectors are exactly as we agreed. The shipping voltage was 49.9V. I am now charging it up to 56.6V with a Satiator at ~7...

Re: EM3ev WARNING - Possible exit scam!

Just got an email from Joseph explaining what "partly shipped" means. It means that they sent the order to their shipping agent but have not yet got a USA tracking number from them. Likely, the order will be delivered by FedEx (or maybe UPS). It will be shipped by air from China to an age...

Re: EM3ev - Not what I expected & no support.

So, an update on the EM3ev situation. I've still had no replies to my emails & they're still not answering their phone, so the only conclusions I can come up with is that EM3ev have either done an exit scam or are just ignoring customers who's money they have already got - I will update the OP ...

Re: New battery build: one parallel group behaves differently

And I think my bike big at 80 lb. The new battery weighs 31 lb in its polycarbonate box. That too seems big to me. I'm steeling myself for plan two, remove G10 and rehabilitate it. Bypassing G10, while possible, seems cowardly. One must confront the problem. Big, bolt-together batteries sound good n...

Re: New battery build: one parallel group behaves differently

Just back from Road Test 2. Thirteen of the fourteen cell groups stayed close to 4V +/- 15mV; however, G10 apparently stayed at 3.4V. I say apparently because the BMS shut off power after a few miles claiming G10 was under 2.8V. I watched the BMS app, and G10 appeared steady at 3.4V. The app display...

What kind of cell are you using to get 2kWh from 28 cells? They must be big!

Re: New battery build: one parallel group behaves differently

Your math looks good, but I should note that the motor hardly ever draws the full 30A. More typically under load I see about 6A or so, and that explains why the battery's temperature stays close to ambient. I will take the battery (and the bike!) on a longer ride today. If anything interesting or un...

Re: New battery build: one parallel group behaves differently

Correct about Wh vs Ah. My mistake. The pack's Wh capacity is about 2kWh. I did check the resistance added by the pcb. With pcb, 130 milliOhms, without pcb, 90 milliOhms. [edited] Why did I use protected cells? They were cheap, unused, and had wires attached, eliminating the need to spot weld. It is...

Re: No reply from lithiumbatterypcb.com - are they still alive?

Sorry to be so late in replying. I ordered from their web site. I doubt it matters which you order from. I really like having realtime communication with the BMS via a bluetooth app on the iPhone. The bluetooth pcb has a tiny LED that glows blue when connected. Surprisingly, it can be seen through b...

New battery build: one parallel group behaves differently

I just built a 14s16p 40 Ah [edited] battery. When I put it together all cells (18650) were very close in voltage. I randomly tested a sample for capacity and found them close. I found one dead cell, and it could not be rehabilitated. A few cells were a couple of tenths of a volt below the storage v...

Re: No reply from lithiumbatterypcb.com - are they still alive?

Haha! Actually the BMS was sitting in my parcel delivery shed since early this morning. Right after posting the previous note, expressing hope for a delivery sometime, I got a text from DHL announcing delivery nine hours before.

Heat up the soldering iron!

Parcel has been sitting in Denver for while. Probably will be delivered Tuesday, after the Memorial Day holiday.

Still hopeful.

Re: No reply from lithiumbatterypcb.com - are they still alive?

I ordered a BMS with express shipping from them on May 12. Five days later their site showed the order "processing". I emailed James, and he quickly responded with a DHL tracking number, assuring me that it has been shipped and that he is pleased to give me advance notice. DHL says the num...
