Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

Of course, the reason to write the option byte file at least once is to disable the read protection bit. I had seen that in the stock file the protection was off, but not knowing if it had always been so and if it always will be, I preferred to rewrite it as provided by marcoq. The strange thing is...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

The OptionByte.S19 files, option_no_prot.ihx, stock_36V.hex, with binary comparison are all different, but open with STVP GUI they are the same, I don't see the difference you have reported. Maybe it depends on the version of STVP GUI? I have version 3.2.7, what version do you use? STVP 3.4.1 here....

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

I don't have a problem, but have compared the stock option byte of my backups (different motors and sources) with "option_no_prot.ihx". Couldn't compare the S19 file, because this is a different file. All different stock files are identical, but differ with "option_no_prot.ihx" the third row. I don...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

I have found I think a repeatable problem, I have had on occasion a motor not responding once programmed to the torque sensor. Program the motor and all other functions will work except reading the torque sensor. If you revert back to the factory memory and program files it still will not work. One...

:thumb: Your solution is a good one to see the voltage drop, but as you said before. It works the best if you have a short stop ( >2s :) ) on a regular base.
You don't need to stop but you need to stop pedaling for 2 seconds or more and I think most people do that frequently when biking.

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

An update on the matter of the internal battery pack resistance. Calculating the internal resistance and showing it is very possible, however the value varies as there seems to be a delay in the voltage fluctation when current changes. I actually did some filtering to try to minimize this in order ...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

I did a test ride this morning and nothing seems broken. My internal battery pack resistance seems to be around 170mΩ. It needs some work still if this should be autoadjusting as current drops quicker that voltage so everytime you stop pedaling the number increases but for measuring it works. An up...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

Thanks for your explination. I see now what could be the problem with the calculations inside the software. If I follow your reasoning then it would be better if this will be done for all calculations for a better data reading. Especially if it concerns calculations that require earlier calculated ...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

Do I understand well that it is advisable to setup inside the configurator the wheelcircumfence as precise as possible and the wheeldiameter on displaysetting as high as possible (35 inch) for the best data reading? Correct, however don't expect a major difference (if any). The changes I suggested ...

I may contribute in the future too, but I have not taken a look at the code yet. Therefore the question How is the code maintained? Is this one here (legacy display adaptation) a feature branch? Is code from the original development (main branch?) merged here? Shouldn't your code be done on the mai...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

The low resolution could be a factor for calculating a more accurate resistance. In that case you need an external voltage meter. I will actually have a go at modifying the firmware to calculate the internal resistance for me and display it. I have a pretty good idea on how to do it. I will of cour...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

I never found this resistance important, so have used the default value always. I think there will be no much difference with a full batterie, but maybe with the last bar a bit. I believe the purpose of the internal resistance value is to prevent the battery bars to flash between two states. Let's ...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

That makes sense, and clarifies what mbrusa said before: "With the small battery you can only check the status of the bars" This would mean: Bars behave as they always did, Voltage base (and is not a representation of the calculated % in bars) % which I assume is a number (have not tried the firmwa...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

The new firmware uses a calibration method instead, which should be more precise, and measures consumption, initial voltage and cut off voltage, and has no self learning algorithms. Since it it uses consumption, it need to know capacity. This is use for the % (a number). For the bars (fuel gauge) t...

Of course the lights must be enabled.
Yes, but that I suppose is an error in the code? The auto-display-data-feature should not need external lights to be enabled. I think removing the lines I disabled as described above should do the trick.

Can anyone describe how easily we can save tested files in the configurator as in the exeprimental file area to the proven file area.
Copy or move (and possibly rename) the ini-file from C:\TSDZ2-Smart-EBike-1-master\experimental settings to C:\TSDZ2-Smart-EBike-1-master\proven settings

I have bought a spare controller in mid-may on Pswpower and it still have the STM8 microcontroller I ordered my 48V TSDZ2 (no throttle version) on the 31st of May (from pswpower) and while my VLCD5-display (version 5.0) allow setting max speed up to 60km/h (instead of the 45km/h I expected) it does...
