Re: Increasing top speed by overvolting?

That looks much better suited for speed than most fatbikes I have seen. Decent fork that probably has good enough damping, through-axle hub that should be able to take a beating. I have tried a similar tektro hydraulic brake though, and no way could I lock the front at high speed with 180mm rotors,...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

That can be your no pedal motor to use on a bike. lol, right! I'm in such a low gear there's really no point in pedaling. I hate going 3mph. I just pedal real slow so the pas kicks in and so people think I'm uber fit. Love seeing their shocked faces, until they see the giant hub motor, if th...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

Ok in time if I rummage through my garage and find a cover I can send it to you of course you have to pay the postage. I have other projects right now and you're my priority sorry but I'll get to it because I have to clean my garage 8 bikes instead o my one car garage. Plastic kill my vacuum gaster...

Re: Increasing top speed by overvolting?

You can get a little bit more speed by using a controller with field weakening capabilities. I have no experience with this so I dont know how much speed you can gain but it might be worth to dig for some info on it. I would definitely not feel safe going 40 mph on a fatbike though :D They are usua...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

Where you live. If near by you can bring cover plate and see if you can match it as there are many different types. So Cal between la and San Diego. I live in Texas but I appreciate the offer. I used epoxy to put the cover back together for now. Put it in the lowest gear to reduce tension and just ...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

no puzzle, its simple. if you drop the return and change the feedback you lose all leverage. tell the seller you wont do it until you have the new plate in hand, and if he wants it changed sooner then he better send it faster, otherwise youll just return it. which ebay will most likely let you do, ...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

I did find this. https://www.ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/motor-hardware/side-plates/mxus-side-cover.html The diameter of the cover seems to be the same along with the bolt pattern. This one comes with a cassette instead of a free-hub which could be nice since the bike originally had a cass...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

In theory I should be able to contact any vendor that sells this motor and ask to purchase a replacement cover. I do not know ebay sellers work like that, I bet they drop ship and they wouldnt have any cover plates laying around, and I'd bet the ebay seller would have a hard time getting it from ye...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

Start googling how they repair engine blocks, I remember I took a cyclinder head to a guy who explained how they drill the cracks out and do their magic, I had too many cracks in the cyl head. The problem being with the cover plate is the torque and stress, welding it may work for awhile, could may...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

Getting a new drive side cover plate from the vendor will be doubtful as the seller wouldnt have it. How would you go about even getting a cover plate that you know fits, thats an issue too. You need to start the process in getting your money back, ebay, paypal and credit card, do it by the book, m...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

Yes, there have been several cases of this happening. Would not call it common, but it in not unknown. Unfortunately, over half of them used externally hosted pictures which are no longer visible as the hosting site closed down. So detailed analysis is impossible. Difficult to see exactly what is h...

Re: Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

Sounds like the best choice is to return the kit and look for one that comes with a cassette hub.
I was only using a 7 speed when it broke and my bike is a 10 speed. My 10 speed freewheel is still enroute from China. If I keep this kit I will probably break many more covers with a 10 speed.

Motor cover split around freewheel while pedaling.

So, I was biking in a park today with lots of hills. I had my motor off and was pedaling my bike myself to be conservative since my friend who I was with had an electric bike with much more range than me. Next thing I know, I hear a noise and it feels like my chain has fallen off, only that it hasn'...

Re: Increasing top speed by overvolting?

Cool, thanks for the info. I guess I can use a voltage regulator, I wanted to avoid that at first so the voltage at the display isn't held constant making it easier to tell how much range is left and have the controller cut off under low voltage. I suppose I could just wire up a voltage divider to a...

Re: Increasing top speed by overvolting?

I think I'm just going to order a 72v kt controller and reassemble my battery packs. Only problem I have now is my kt lcd8h display is only rated for 36v/48v setups. I don't know if I can directly hook up 72v. I could use a voltage divider/voltage regulator to power the display but then I'm not sure...

Re: Increasing top speed by overvolting?

What if I connected my two 48v batteries in series? I just came across this link. https://electricbike.com/forum/forum/ask-lunacycle/ask-a-question/80151-overvolting-a-48v-1000w-motor-with-96v-10ah-battery What would I need to look for in the controller to see if it can handle 96v? Capacitors, and w...

Increasing top speed by overvolting?

Hello, I recently converted a fatbike to a fat-ebike. However, top speed isn't quite where I want it. My top speed is about 27mph on flat ground. I don't think there is a speed limiter, When I lift the motor wheel and hit the throttle, the speedometer shows about 34mph, so unless watts is being limi...
