A noob question on electrical circuits and polarity

Context is I'm trying to rig up a relay for my TSDZ2 motor system to power a front light, and I realised how basic my understanding of electrical circuits is so please bear with me... 1. If you're connecting two batteries in series you connect the +ve of one cell to the -ve of the other. 2. b...

Re: TSDZ2 + front light relay mod, will it blow up 860C?

I can't answer your question, but this works great with my 860c https://www.electrifybike.com/store/p163/Roxim_X4EB_6-90v_headlight_and_taillight.html#/ I've got that exact light, and it blew up my previous controller when I was running a VLCD5, hence the lighting relay mod I'm doing now. Did you m...

TSDZ2 + front light relay mod, will it blow up 860C?

Hi fellow ebike tinkerers, I'm planning to do this mod to my motor to enable a higher power front light to be directly driven by the UI and also don't need a separate battery for the light any more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuHUcbF1ClE&t=1s In summary the stock lighting circuit on the con...

Re: TSDZ2 OSF for all displays, VLCD5-VLCD6-XH18, LCD3, 860C-850C-SW102.

Can I get a fact check on the process to calibrate the torque sensor: 1. Right crank horizontal, zero weight --> get value for "Torque adc offset" from "ADC torque sensor" from the Technical page. 2. Right crank horizontal, full rider weight on crank --> get value for "Torqu...

860C display for TSDZ2 - ANY 860C will do?

I've got the OSF firmware with the stock VLCD5 display right now but is eyeing a display upgrade. I was about to click Pay Now on Aliexpress for a 860c when I saw a comment on this video by Eco Cycles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDDcVlEzjSg It is mentioned, "Not any 850/860c will work, we ...

TSDZ2 have I damaged the controller (too high wattage light)?

I think, I've installed a light that's a little too much for the controller's light circuit. :? The light is a Roxim X4 and it's supposed to draw about 1A at 6V. I've now realised the TSDZ2 controller can only give 500mA or so according to some forum post here. When I installed the light it worked p...

Ursus jumbo kickstand and TSDZ2

Does anyone have both of these installed on your bike? I'm really interested in this kickstand but it's hard to figure out how they fit on my bike, so am hoping for a photo of them together. Cheers.

There is also no spark suppression so plugging it into the battery often triggers a massive zap.
Do you still get the spark if you turn on the charger before plugging in the battery? That solved the problem for me.
Yes that's what I do and I'm still getting spark. :(

Re: Hardware temperature control tsdz2

Maybe nice for some people. Was searching in old posts, I saw also an idea for improving heatconductivity mentioned by hefest A lot of layers of aluminium foil until it fits snug. The original source I found on German Pedelecforum . Guiri claims a better heat dissipation. https://endless-sphere.com...

Re: Adjustable voltage Li-ion battery pack chargers - why uncommon?

I've been looking around, and there seems very few of those. I found this one on Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001152342980.html?spm=2114.12057483.0.0.4d6637fcAdRARY For anybody interested I did end up getting this charger. It seems to work as intended, or at least things hadn't caug...

For anybody else running into this, running things in the administrator's account (Windows 7) solved it for me. :thumb:

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

I do not have access to the java configurator right now so I cannot check the ini-file. Your config.h could help. However my guess is that you accidently blanked LIGHTS_CONFIGURATION_2 in the java configurator. I think if that is not set to anything this would happen when you try to compile. Got it...

Re: Adjustable voltage Li-ion battery pack chargers - why uncommon?

In Australia, basically everything is shipped in from overseas, so we get smashed with freight costs (particularly from USA), and ridiculous shipping delays (particularly from China). Often the "quality" gear from USA is way out of reach. I've already checked the US stuff, the ones I foun...

Re: Adjustable voltage Li-ion battery pack chargers - why uncommon?

Thanks for the reply @amberwolf. The battery I've came from a local reputable supplier with warranty and explicitly specified the cells used so I feel assured to a certain extent. I'm not sure whether the cells are matched when the pack was built. I'm not sure whether the BMS does load balancing if ...

Adjustable voltage Li-ion battery pack chargers - why uncommon?

I just built up my first ebike and want to find out how to maintain that massive AU$500 battery properly. I read in various places, to extend battery life, I should aim to keep its charge between 20% and 80% at all times. Now considering the length of the commute I built the ebike to do in this COVI...

Troubleshooting TSDZ2 Open Source Firmware for stock display compilation

Hi all, First post here. I just got my TSDZ2 kit and am trying to work out how to put the open source firmware on it (stock VLCD5 display). I followed the instructions here to the letter (as far as I'm aware): https://github.com/emmebrusa/TSDZ2-Smart-EBike-1/wiki Step 3: "The file STVP_CmdLine....
