Re: Looking for a street legal Electric Scooter/Moped

While not being a big player like Vespa, CSC is the most established importer of Chinese scooters/motorcycles in the US. I think you shouldn't have a problem registering a bike from them. Also they sell something nearly identical to the flux, so if you want that style I would go with them. Also the ...

FWIW I had a custom made 48v17.5ah battery from UPP and it took a lot of abuse. Not expensive. I wouldn't hesitate to go with them again.

Re: Quick test for solar range extender

It looks a bit funny sticking off a regular bike, but on a longtail cargo it would be more at home. For touring it could be mounted on top of a bicycle trailer cargo box, which you could prop up at the correct angle whenever you get to camp or stop for a lunch break...

Can you provide info on your temporary motor setup? What voltage, what batteries? And what motor is that exactly?

And maybe I missed it, but what is the permanent motor setup going to be?

Re: 30Ah to 20Ah!?

First, it's not good practice to post the same topic in multiple places. I'm not familiar with Daymak, but first thing to check is how many connectors are leaving your current battery. If there's just two big cables it's easy to fit a different battery. If there are also smaller signal wires/connect...

Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox

So what are people’s recommendations for the front and rear sprocket ratios for this motor with the built-in gear reduction? Am I correct that QS says 1:3? I’m looking to use the QS138 70H in a vintage scooter, with a 12” wheel. Scooter will probably weigh around 130-140kg (285-310lbs). Scooter wou...

Hey can you share what pully and jackshaft system you used to create the gear reduction? Or was it all custom made?

Battery box plug / connectors?

So I am designing a simple weatherproof metal battery box enclosure for a 60V, 150A continuous/200A peak discharge battery. All sides of the enclosure will be exposed to rain/splash. The only thing that needs to exit the box is the two 1/0 power cables. Design goals are easy to disconnect and imposs...

A very standard "17mm splined shaft" 420 or 428 sprocket will fit. I may have found a source for a 520 sprocket... I will update if it comes to pass.

Mine came with a 15T 428 sprocket, with retainer plate/hardware.

qs138-with-gearbox-photo-labeled.jpg So as I understand it the correct orientation is: #1 - vent, ideally facing downward. #2 - Drain plug, ideally the lowest point of the fluid housing. #3 - Fill plug.
