17 inch motorcycle rim with bicycle hub
I’m building a reverse trike. I want to lace the 36 hole bicycle hub with a motorcycle rim. The plan is to use bicycle spokes for the rim. I know from searching this forum that i need to have some spacer to get the nipples to seat properly in the motorcycle rim. But I can’t find info on the length o...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers
I want to make the correct settings. what do these parameters mean in each window? how do they work? 2.jpg I do not know what F, U, and D are, but i have figured out the others through testing. IO sets up the assigned function/wire for Output only, like the hall or RPM line. The SW sets the assigne...

Re: Help with stray voltage
Thank you for your reply. I’ve tested the resistance between the frame and the battery, the resistance is 0.5 to 0.6 mega ohm. I have not connect the controller or the hub motor. Is there anything that should be fixed? Not really. That sounds pretty normal. You could try hooking up the controller a...

Re: Help with stray voltage
Maybe it's a stupid test, but if you take the batteries out of the frame and put them on something next to the bike, is the voltage still there? Thank you for your reply. My battery is placed within the frame and also have 3 different place that is connected at every parallel cell group, so it beco...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers
This morning something marvelous but mysterious happened. When I import new parameters file to the controller, all pf the sudden the bike is normal again. Even though all the parameters match the previous setting. It’s weird, but i’m glad that it all worked out. Has anyone here ever experienced some...

I have a problem with my Votol EM100 controller. When I give it a full throttle, the throttle open up just a little bit, or sometimes it starts normal for a few second and than the speed goes down to a very low speed. My setup is qs205 2000w 72v with votol em100 I have check the throttle voltage, ha...

Re: Help with stray voltage
Try measuring resistance between the frame and battery negative. If you see a low reading, like ohms, you have a short. If the meter shows high, more than megohms, then it's good. Your meter is very sensitive and you can get stray readings like that just from moisture or stray resistance in the con...

Re: Help with stray voltage
The bms is not mounted on the frame and it is well insulated. The contactor is mounted to the frame, but when I dismount the contactor, the voltage remained the same.
I don’t use ground on the frame.
Sorry for the double post.
Thank you for your reply.

Re: Parallel battery charging with different bms
Are you planning on creating a relatively permanent pack from the two sub-packs, keeping them in parallel during use most times? Yes, that’s the idea. Then connect the 1S cell-level groups between packs, and just have one BMS manage it as one integrated pack for monitoring and balancing if you use ...

Re: Parallel battery charging with different bms
id adjust my charger voltage to 4.15v/cell. 20s would be 83v instead of 84v or 4.1v/82v and charge both packs while theyre paralleled together. that way the bms wont become an issue while charging you can always balance charge the packs separately once a month or whenever, are you still using the r...

Parallel battery charging with different bms
I’m sorry if this is a newbie question. I have 2 li ion battery, 20S9P and 20S12P. They have a different type of bms. The 20S9P battery have a common - for charging and the 20S12P have a different - for charging. If i parallel the 2 batteries, how do I connect the charger? Because if I parallel the ...

Re: Charge controller for li ion 20S
I use a "Hawkeye 808" to monitor the input current and stop the charge at undercurrent ( of the line) or overcurrent ( of the line). Trips a relay disconnection at a certain mA adjustable. Does it work for DC ? The datasheet doesn't say. Seems to imply AC (since it is line powered by indu...

Re: Daisy chain active balancer
I believe the problem with these switched inductor and capacitor balancers is that the balancing current is proportional to the voltage difference. So my understanding is that the balance current tapers off and it gets quite slow as the cell voltages get closer. I think so too, just like a charger.
