Re: Does my brand new hub motor have a bent axle? (4K video)

They are very easy to replace it yourself and if the motor is brand new they probably won't require any special tools. Before you email TBK about it, first make sure you can unscrew the side cover youself. Remove the locknuts and try and unscrew the whole side cover anti-clockwise. Yes, it is a AKM...

Re: Cycle Analyst - still solid choice?

BTW, here is a project that integrates a RaspberryPi with Ant+ so the interface and low level stack is not completely unknown. https://bin.re/blog/track-your-heartrate-on-raspberry-pi-with-ant/ Looking at the code, it does look like the RaspberryPi is the client that listens to events coming from a...

Re: Too thick cable

Using a water based lubricant (so it doesn't have oils that could damage insulation) to help get a tight fitting cable thru the axle can help. I never tried this, but I would imagine that lubrication should make a HUGE difference when pulling a cable. Silicone grease should be safe on pretty much a...

Re: Cycle Analyst - still solid choice?

a receiver capable of taking the BTE or ANT+ signal then outputting via wire to the CA3. I would guess that your pedal pushes out a signal say every few seconds. It might sample much faster internally, and output an average value every say 5 seconds. I would guess that by design there is no way to ...

has a little power meter and it shows it still has 2/4 (50%) lights on That little power meter measures no load voltage. Under load your voltage drops below the preset. The higher the load the higher the drop. Cheap or bad batteries can't tolerate high loads so they sag. Ease off the throttle and i...

Re: Battery pack from a prius cell

Like I mentioned earlier, these cells are designed to operate between 40% and 80% charge, ONLY . The hybrid system will not let them get outside that range. Ever. More realistically they live most of their life between 45%-65%. This is a narrow range, which might be the reason why balancing at cell ...

Re: Battery pack from a prius cell

Each battery "cell" (which i think is what prius defines them as) contains 6 1.2v cells so in reality it will be 30s1p however you cant access the individual cells. If they are used, you might be getting 30-40% less than their original 6.5aH rating. At this point you might be better off b...

Re: Battery pack from a prius cell

I plan on a 36v 5s1p configuration if its of any help. How exactly do five 1.2v nimh cells = 36v? Or you meant 5 whole modules? They are 7.2V @ 6.5aH @ 1kg. So a 13aH @ 36v battery would weigh 22 pounds at the minimum. So like 3 times heavier than a typical li-on bike battery? I own a hybrid that u...

Re: What can a Grin controller + cycle analyst do that KT controllers + KT display can't do?

I believe that my friend, is wishful thinking. If you show me a KT display successfully displaying a motor temp. THEN I'll believe you. I have a bench signal generator and I should be able to easily simulate this "multiplexed" signal to test it out. I'll return to my workbench in early De...

Re: What can a Grin controller + cycle analyst do that KT controllers + KT display can't do?

You're referring to the signal from the controller to the display. I'm referring to the signal from the motor to the controller. Put another way- Lets say you take the time and trouble to install a temp sensor in your motor. Kindly show me where you hook that temp sensor output to a KT controller s...

I read the manual where it says to hold both the up and down arrow buttons at the same time for a few seconds until it changes, but nothing happens I just read the manual for a KT-LCD8, and it explicitly says to press up+down within 5 seconds of powering on to get into settings. SW900 looks similar...

I don't see any more vibration than if you had a slightly out of balance tire mounted on the wheel.
It's not the vibration I'm concerned about (at this point at least), it's the bending action that the motor would exert on my dropouts.

Re: What can a Grin controller + cycle analyst do that KT controllers + KT display can't do?

Regarding the KT display potential to read motor temp, agree the displays are able to display it, but I've never seen anything anywhere on where or how that temp is input. There are no specific/dedicated wires for that purpose anywhere on the controller. The white wire coming from the motor is from...

Re: What can a Grin controller + cycle analyst do that KT controllers + KT display can't do?

The CA is NOT a display. (just to make that absolutely clear to any readers now or in the future) It is not designed in any way to communicate with any controller in any way other than sending it a throttle signal. It can only display the information that is monitored or created within the CAv3 its...

How's it look on the dropout on the other side of the wheel?
Other side looks much better. There is wobble, but based on the amplitude I think it is just transferred from the other side. That is if the cassette site didn't wobble, it would be running smooth on both sides.

Re: Does my brand new hub motor have a bent axle? (4K video)

If the wheel rim is true it will not be bending the dropouts back and forth. That's the part I don't understand. If the bending comes from the axle mount point, which is somewhere around the base of the cassette mount, nothing except making the axle perfectly parallel to the axle on the other side ...

Keep in mind that that is the wobble at the hub, not the rim. If, after the wheel is built up you still see that sort of wobble it's unacceptable. However that's not a given, especially if the wheel is hand built. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. It seems like you are saying what the AKM &q...

Re: What can a Grin controller + cycle analyst do that KT controllers + KT display can't do?

But as has also been stated, the CAv3 is not just designed for Grin controllers, nor v/v. CA works with any controller, including KTs It might work with other controllers, but it does not appear that it will program controllers, since say KT uses a proprietary protocol. So if someone buys a KT cont...
