Try looking for 19" BMX trials rims and tyres.
I found that a winner.
They are for people who hop up and down on the BMX balancing like a unicycle.

Re: How Will Electric Vehicles Be Modified in the Future?

In the leaf people are adding faster onboard chargers Some people are adding active cooling or heating. Everyone uses obd2 to monitor battery status. A few have added extra batteries with limited success.

Maybe the ultimate modification will be battery replacement with oem or 3rd party.

old motors inefficient?

Do motors loose efficiency with age?
I have a 15 year old crystalyte 406 that still works!
But it seems to drink the juice twice as fast as it should.

Is there a way to refurbish it?
I have checked the halls and they're all working.

That looks so good you could get mass market appeal.
You should put a solar panel on one and do the sun trip!

Have you looked at the sun trip ebikes? This is exactly what you are thinking about. An ebike you can cross continents in. The are some in the build thread section.

Re: UK ebike law.

Sorry to drag up an old thread. But I've been thinking about this a lot lately as i have built some street legal ebikes for my family. The lawyers who drew up the UK rules on this didn't know the difference between a motor and a controller. They are used to engines! Therefore when i see: "motor must...

mislabeled BMS ! what to do?

Hi I'm repairing a bike for a friend. He has given me all of the components including this BMS which seems to be mislabeled. Normally i would expect to see connections for B- (battery -ve), C- (charger -ve) & P- (controller -ve). Sometimes there is only B- and -ve. On this board there are three sold...

I used to have a 55mpg diesel. If anyone here swapped a 30mpg fossil burner for their EV then they would win i think. I do 20k miles too tho.

How much did you save driving your electric car last year?

Hi i saved £1800* (2400$) last year by driving a leaf24 instead of a diesel ford focus.

Is this the highest or can anyone top that?

*My number includes: taxes, fuel, depreciation, electric but not insurance or mainance. I assumed they were the same for both cars.

Re: recharging in the field - the ultimate!

Think about it this way john. The bike i ride is illegal on UK roads and look it! I have very little free time nowadays (kids) so ild rather not waste time and energy on the stuff i don't like (roads) and instead focus on the fun stuff. I see your point and in the past i would have agreed with you. ...

Re: recharging in the field - the ultimate!

I charge my bike in the back garden in case it catchs fire. The batteries on my rucksac are in a biscuit tin and i have thick packing material to protect me. I ride motocross and have fallen off about 10 times this month. All low speed tho 'drop the bike' type stuff.
....But your right.

To do this right you need an electric car. Because you don't need to leave the engine running and the cars battery will last for days!

recharging in the field - the ultimate!

How about this idea? You drive your car to the trails with your electric bike in it. You ride round for an hour and flattern your first battery. Then you swap over to your second battery in you back pack and ride back to your car. You then plug your first battery and charger into an inverter run off...

Re: Opportunity Charging in the UK/Belgium/Holland

So you can use the all the ev charging network if you have the right cards and aps. Tho your probably not supposed to use adaptors on outdoor chargers incase it rains.
some ev drivers might get irate and complain tho.
